Jessica Alexander, who starred in the recent psychological horror movie A Banquet (pictured above) and the dystopian thriller Glasshouse, is now playing the lead role in Fallen, a supernatural series being made for the Brazilian streaming service Globoplay. Fallen is now filming, and given the fact that most of the cast are not Brazilian I have a feeling the show is going to be available on other services than Globoplay at some point.
Alexander’s co-stars include Alexander Siddig (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), Sarah Niles (Ted Lasso), Gijs Blom (The Letter for the King), Timothy Innes (The Last Kingdom), Josefine Koenig (My Name Is Josy), Lawrence Walker (The ReZort), Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness (Days of the Bagnold Summer), Laura Majid (Five), Courtney Chen (FBI: International), and newcomers Esme Kingdom, Maura Bird, Samantha Bell, and Julian Krenn.

“Shantaram” star Alexander Siddig is set to lead a supernatural series for Brazilian streaming service Globoplay.
“Fallen,” which has begun principal photography, will star Siddig alongside Sarah Niles (“Ted Lasso”), Jessica Alexander (“Get Even”), Gijs Blom (“The Letter for the King”) and Timothy Innes (“The Last Kingdom”).
Produced by Silver Reel and Night Train Media, and co-produced with Globoplay, “Fallen” (8 x 60′) follows the story of Luce, a young woman who is sent to a cult-like rehab facility called Sword & Cross to serve time for a crime she can’t remember committing.
Among the other residents, she encounters the enigmatic Daniel (Blom) and exasperating but irresistible Cam (Innes), all of whom are under the watchful eye of the sinister chief doctor Howson (Siddig), and devout twin sisters Miriam and Sophia (Niles). Luce must untangle the mystery of who she is and why she has a connection to Daniel that goes far...

TheWrap has partnered with Canvs, the emotion measurement AI company, for a weekly look at some of the characters and personalities that have TV viewers the most worked up on social media. The data below covers Sept. 5-11 and is drawn from the most emotionally reacted-to television programs, including broadcast, cable, streaming and PPV.
The Green Bay Packers quarterback, a tennis star and an ex-boyfriend had viewers talking passionately on social media over the past seven days.
NBC’s broadcast of the Chicago Bears vs. Green Bay Packers NFL game sparked 180,050 Emotional Reactions (ERs), with Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers driving a ton of the emotional conversation. Rodgers sustained a knee injury in the second quarter, which had fans worried he wouldn’t return — and may in fact be out for the season. But he limped back on the field in the second half (when the Packers were trailing 17-0) and orchestrated a stunning comeback,...

Insecure's third season premieres on Aug. 12, and we're looking forward to getting some of the questions we're left with after the finale of season two answered. From questionable pregnancies to even more questionable relationships, season two left us reeling from a whirlwind of emotions. But there's one question everyone had after watching Issa and Lawrence tearfully say goodbye, a montage of what could have been still burning in our brains: is that really the end of the couple? Are we officially saying goodbye to Lawrence Walker and everything that came with him? Do we really have to say goodbye to Jay Ellis's beautiful face?
Sorry to tell you, Team Lawrence, but the finale of season two is officially his swan song. The rumors surrounding his appearance in the show began after Ellis revealed that he hadn't been involved with the show since production began filming season three. When the...

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: What is the best will-they-won’t-they couple ever on TV? (Current and past shows are fair game.)
Eric Deggans (@deggans), NPR
This is tough. The will they or won’t they trope is so pervasive in television, picking a “best” is like looking for the shiniest grain of sand on a beach. The classic duos are obvious: Sam and Diane, David and Maddie, Carrie and Mr. Big, Ross and Rachel, Kermit and Miss Piggy. They’re the backbones of some of the best shows on television, but they’re also tremendously obvious and discussed to death. So my picks are going to be extremely personal and super specific.

“Step one is realizing you have an issue. Step two is trying to fix it. So Molly’s going to try, but you know…” Yvonne Orji tells Et about Molly Carter, the ambitious young lawyer and best friend to Issa Dee (Issa Rae), who audiences saw scare off man after man on season one of Insecure.
Co-created by Rae and Larry Wilmore, the HBO hit comedy about the two women navigating work and relationships in south Los Angeles explores the black female experience not really seen onscreen since Upn’s Girlfriends.
For Molly’s part, that means trying to carve out a place in a largely white, male law firm and setting standards, albeit way too high at times, for her friends and would-be suitors. Set on finding a man, she eventually crashed and burned while coming to verbal blows with Issa over her relationship with Lawrence Walker (Jay Ellis), which also came crashing down by end...

“I’m a lost boyfriend,” admits actor Jay Ellis in an interview with Gold Derby (watch the exclusive video above) about the status of his “Insecure” character Lawrence Walker. He plays the boyfriend of protagonist Issa Dee (played by co-creator/head writer/executive producer Issa Rae), and reflecting on Lawrence’s arc, Ellis says, “When you meet him, he’s […]...

Post-apocalyptic zombie movies are ten-a-penny these days, it often seem like we get a new one every month, thankfully The Rezort (also known as Generation Z) gives us a new spin on the familiar story… Following a near-apocalyptic zombie outbreak, humans are once again in control. If an occasional rogue zombie finds its way into everyday life, it is quickly disposed of by the authorities. In this day and age, people know how to handle “Zee’s”, so much so that it has become big business to hunt the undead.
The latest craze is the Zafari. Part blood sport, part therapeutic revenge following the losses suffered during the outbreak, the zombie safari is a chance to shoot and kill the un-dead out in the wild on an island resort.

The Rezort feels like a Saturday Night SyFy Special with actual funding, which is a compliment in my book. As most good zombie flicks do, horror is used as a means for social commentary. Kills and gore chew through fleshy characters, but writer Paul Gerstenberger’s survival scenario speaks to human instincts through genre exploitation. You’ll get an open-world safari element that’s all about hunting preserved dead-heads, along with powerful quips meant to explore dealings with grief, guilt and post-war desensitization. It’s nothing Earth-shattering, but director Steve Barker’s zom-dram is vicious enough to support astute observations about zombies and humans being equally despicable creatures. Even with a cheesy “Z” title insertion.
In a post-outbreak world where almost 2 billion people were killed, containment is key. When citizens turned into zombies, a war broke out, but somehow man won. Now, with airtight regulations in place, zombies are a...
