It might have something to do with how much I love Everybody Wants Some, but I’m still thinking about Richard Linklater and his career to date. Yes, I touched on that a bit last week, and previously in 2014 when Boyhood was making its way through the awards season, but I’m not quite done just yet. There’s something about Linklater that has me constantly thinking about and re-evaluating his films. Interestingly enough, his flicks tend to be ones that lend themselves nicely to introspection/retrospection. In doing this, one of the things I’ve actually come up with is that he’s actually yet to make a bad movie, despite having a nearly 20 deep filmography. As such, it made perfect sense to rank his films today, showing you just how varied yet consistent he is as a director. It’s really quite something to behold, at least in my eyes…...

Here’s your first look at the new trailer and posters for Richard Linklater’s college-theme movie Everybody Wants Some. This follow-up film arrives more than 20 years after the original and is the “spiritual sequel” to Dazed And Confused.
The movie will make its World Premiere on Friday, March 11, 2016 during the 23rd edition of the SXSW Film Festival.
Linklater says of his new film, “If you look at Mitch, Wiley Wiggins’s character in Dazed who pitches in that pony league game, this is him, four years later, going off to college. Say he got better at baseball and he’s off to college. It would be right then — 1980.” He adds, “I’m reclaiming songs like ‘Rapper’s Delight’ and ‘My Sharona’ – you know, songs from ’79 and’80 that people have been making fun of for a while. I’m back to the original intent of those songs, like what they felt like then.

After the release of “Dazed and Confused” and “Boyhood,” it looks like director Richard Linklater is down for some more nostalgic trips down memory lane. Linklater’s new film “Everybody Wants Some” looks like “Dazed and Confused” set in the 80s, but instead of following high school football players, it follows college baseball players. It looks good nevertheless, but you be the judge with the new trailer far below. Set in the 1980s, the film follows the lives of college freshmen who are also baseball players. The new movie stars Blake Jenner, Temple Baker, Ryan Guzman, Tyler Hoechlin, Wyatt Russell, Zoey Deutch, Glen Powell, Will Brittain, and Forrest Vickery. “Everybody Wants Some” [ Read More ]

With a streak like few other directors, Richard Linklater will be following Bernie, Before Midnight, and Boyhood with a “spiritual sequel” to one of his best films, Dazed and Confused. Everybody Wants Some follows a group of college baseball players. Set for a premiere at South by Southwest Film Festival on March 11th, then a release about a month later, Paramount have now provided the first trailer.
“You show up at college and you’re listening to Van Halen, but you go to discos to chase women, but then you end up at a punk club or a country bar because Urban Cowboy was big at that time,” Linklater said last year when discussing the film. “All that stuff was on the table, so it’s an interesting cultural moment because they go to an art party and they’re listening to the Talking Heads, so it’s a cultural moment where I’m like,...
