Toni Collette (The Staircase) has been tapped as a lead in The Power, Prime Video’s 10-episode global thriller drama based on Naomi Alderman’s feminist sci-fi book, while The Good Wife alum Josh Charles is set for a key recurring role in the series from Jane Featherstone’s Sister and director Reed Morano. They replace Leslie Mann and Tim Robbins, respectively, who both exited the series in May.
Additionally, Raelle Tucker has signed an overall deal with Amazon Studios. Under the pact, in addition to developing new projects, Tucker will serve as showrunner and executive producer of The Power.

Jessica Jones is having blackouts and doesn’t know why. Matt Murdock is pressuring her to help a former victim of her arch nemesis, the Purple Man. Hammerhead and his goons are squeezing the owner of her favourite coffee shop for protection money and that’s just for starters. In court Murdock is trying to help Maria Snyder convince the judge the Purple Man told her to burn her house down (with her family still inside) and Jessica learns that he may still be just as much of a threat to her. And then multiple variants of Jessica turn up!

This post contains spoilers for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Hawkeye
The Man Without Fear’s world will officially get a little more frightening! When Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk appeared on the Disney+ series Hawkeye, just one week after Charlie Cox’s blind lawyer Matt Murdock showed up in Spider-Man: No Way Home, rumors immediately began swirling about a showdown between the two. The Netflix Marvel shows may have a mixed legacy, but the clashes between Kingpin and Daredevil remain fan favorites. The Hollywood Reporter has now confirmed that both characters will be in the upcoming Hawkeye spin-off Echo, meaning the two will finally meet in the MCU.
Outside of a rebooted Daredevil series, Echo is the most sensible place for the two to resume their hostilities. Played by Alaqua Cox, Maya Lopez aka Echo may have shown up on TV screens hunting Clint Barton in Hawkeye,...

It's happening, Daredevil fans!
Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio have joined the cast of the forthcoming Marvel series Echo, a spinoff of Hawkeye.
According to THR, sources allege that Daredevil's Matt Murdoch appears on the series in search of a former ally.
The Weekly Planet reported that ally is Jessica Jones, who was played by Krysten Ritter in her own Netflix series.
The reports are exciting, especially when you consider the way the Marvel series concluded on Netflix.
Many of them didn't get an ending, and now, enough time has passed for Disney+ to be home to the shows.
Cox reprised his role on the 2021 movie Spider-Man: No Way Home, while D'Onofrio reprised his villainous role on Hawkeye.
The move would leave Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Punisher on the bench, but given that the other superheroes appear to be popping up in other projects, we should expect more from everyone else.

Disney+‘s Echo series starring Alaqua Cox‘s Maya Lopez will feature two familiar faces from Marvel’s former Netflix series Daredevil. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio will reportedly reprise their roles as Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil, and Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin in the Disney+ series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel hasn’t commented on the casting news, but it shouldn’t come as a major surprise. In 2021, Cox and D’Onofrio made their Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debuts when Matt Murdock showed up in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Kingpin played an antagonistic role in Disney+’s Hawkeye series. Until then, their characters hadn’t been seen since Daredevil was canceled at Netflix after a third season. Alaqua Cox in Echo (Credit: Chuck Zlotnick/©Marvel Studios) Daredevil recently joined the Disney+ library along with its other former Netflix companions like Jessica Jones, The Punisher, Luke Cage,...

Marvel Studios has some devilish plans in store for Echo, the upcoming Disney+ series currently filming in Atlanta.
Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, who portrayed classic Marvel Comics characters Daredevil and The Kingpin, respectively, have joined the series, which stars Hawkeye breakout Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez. Marvel had no comment.
The move is the latest sign of Marvel Studios’ efforts to weave in popular characters from Netflix’s now-defunct Marvel shows such as Daredevil into the fold. This is one of those books that knew it would be taking our money from the very start. Firstly, its multiverse stuff. That’s gold at the moment. Secondly, it’s got everyone’s favourite bad girl Jessica Jones as the star. I suspect we’ll be seeing her show up on Disney Plus in the not-too-distant future, so Marvel have a lot invested in her, and this book is a decent start. Lastly, what a great creative team. Gail Simone, who has never met a female character she can’t write the hell out of, and Phil Noto, who uses such beautifully clean lines in his art. This is a triple home run in theory, but is it in practice?
So, the main premise here is going to be seeing Jessica Jones through a prism of multiple universes.

Emma Roberts has been cast in “Madame Web,” the latest movie set in Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters.
The actor is joining a star-studded ensemble, which includes Dakota Johnson as the title hero and “Euphoria” breakout Sydney Sweeney in an undisclosed role. As previously announced, Celeste O’Connor (“Ghostbusters: Afterlife”), Isabela Merced (“Dora and the Lost City of Gold”) and Tahar Rahim (“The Mauritanian”) are rounding out the call sheet.
“Madame Web” serves as an origin story for the comic book character, a clairvoyant whose psychic abilities allow her to see within the spider world itself. In the comics, her abilities prove to be greatly beneficial to Spider-Man and his fellow arachnid allies but given her condition she’s never battled villains herself.
S.J. Clarkson, whose Marvel bonafides include “Jessica Jones” and “The Defenders,” is directing “Madame Web.” Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, who previously collaborated on Jared Leto’s vampire thriller “Morbius,...

Ever since the introduction of Echo in Hawkeye, fans have hoped that Daredevil and the Kingpin would once again do battle on screen. While Hawkeye did eventually give us the return of Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin of Crime, Charlie Cox had only a cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, sans red devil horns. But if a costume designer’s resume is any indication, the two arch-enemies will be clashing again soon.
Along with clips of her excellent work on films such as Speed Racer and Thor: Ragnarok, Stacy Caballero includes a description of her work on the upcoming Echo series for Disney+. The resume indicates that in addition to designing costumes for lead actor Alaqua Cox, Caballero also worked for two others: Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio. If this is accurate, then we...

When Marvel fans noticed that scenes from The Falcon and the Winter Solider were edited down from the original version, many wondered if the streamer was quietly censoring more violent content on the platform.
But it looks like that alternate version was uploaded by mistake. Sources tell TVLine that those censored scenes were published accidentally as part of a version control issue. Disney+ is working on fixing the problem as quickly as possible.

Disney+ on Wednesday morning suped up its slate of Marvel fare by adding 20 total seasons of TV, including Netflix’s inaugural street-level hero series, Daredevil, and the five that followed it, plus ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Oh look, it’s another ‘event’ book. Soon monthly books will probably cease to exist, considering how many of these event books both Marvel and DC pump out these days. Not a criticism, as publishers will just follow what the consumer wants. In the early days, mini-series were a nice side dish, a treat, to have alongside your monthly fix of Spider-Man or Batman. Now, monthly books seem very much secondary, with relatively low readership figures. Big event books, however, always get a readership bump, and therefore the publisher makes money, and everyone’s happy. The only problem for me with that model is you have to keep upping the ante with each mini-series, or finding some angle that’s not been explored, and that gets more difficult every year. Will this be the event that jumps the shark?...

Game of Thrones is readying a return to Westeros in 2022 with House of the Dragon. Set around 200 years in the past, during the height of the Targaryens’ incestuous, dragon-riding royal reign, the series is the first of HBO’s ongoing prequel pursuits. However, it also represents an enormously expensive mulligan, since it arrives in the aftermath of an extravagant pilot produced for a completely different prequel project, which was not picked up and still languishes unseen by audiences. Interestingly, new details have surfaced regarding the nixed project’s price tag and how it directly led to the prequel series that will ultimately arrive.
While HBO’s initial Game of Thrones prequel attempt never bore an official title, reports revealed it to be a story of ancient proportions, set thousands of years earlier, which—based on the elaborate history in creator George R.R. Martin’s literary lore—earned it de facto...

"Set in the Pacific Northwest, The Girl in the Woods follows Carrie’s escape from her mysterious, cult-like colony that guards the world from monsters hidden behind a secret door within the woods," reads the logline.

"Jessica Jones" may not have the instant name familiarity compared to other Marvel heroes like Captain America or Spider-Man, but after three seasons of a series over at Netflix, star Krysten Ritter managed to drum up a loyal following. Fans were devastated when Netflix canceled the show citing low-ratings as justification, but few were more heartbroken than Ritter.
As reported in an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Ritter was asked about the possibility of returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While she couldn't confirm if we'll be seeing Jessica Jones any time soon, she expressed a great desire to return to...

I almost didn’t pick this up, as all the advance blurbs I had seen seemed to be promoting yet another ‘event of the month’ type thing. There’s only so many times you can go back to the well when it comes to universe/ world/ reality shaking events. The trouble with continually raising the ante is at some point there is nowhere left to go. What hooked me in was the fact that Tom Taylor was writing it, always a positive, and the cast of characters looked interesting enough to carry pretty much any storyline. Plus, I’ve always loved any story featuring The Watcher. Yep, I know, I’m weird. So I’m going in to this with an open mind, albeit with a dash of weary cynicism. Let’s see what Taylor and Coello have for us.

There aren’t a lot of MCU titles that received more hate than Iron Fist, but the fact that the show did receive so much negative feedback is amazing since the character in the comics is actually pretty cool even if he’s a bit self-righteous at times. It’s kind of interesting how Daredevil, Luke Cage, and even Jessica Jones gained such a great following when they came to the MCU, while Iron Fist, who had the opportunity to become yet another great addition, kind of mucked up his own show to start with and made The Defenders appear a little less

Marvel just opened up the multiverse in a massive way in the first trailer for the studio’s first animated series, “What If…”
The anthology series imagines alternate timelines for MCU characters, including Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) taking the super-soldier serum and becoming Captain Britain, and T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) getting picked up by Yondu (Michael Rooker) instead of Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) and leading the Guardians of the Galaxy.
It will debut on August 11. Watch the trailer in the video above.
The animated series features the voices of many MCU actors reprising their roles, including the late Boseman, in one of his last performances before his death from cancer last year.
Jeffrey Wright will star as “The Watcher” an omnipresent being who is watching over the multiverse. Ashley Bradley is the head writer and executive producer.

This article contains The Falcon and the Winter Soldier episode 5 spoilers, and possibly more for future episodes and the wider MCU.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier episode 5, “Truth,” is another somewhat transitional episode for the series. Big action at the beginning, some heartbreaking reveals in the middle, and then plenty of bonding and moving pieces around for the finale for the rest of the episode. Oh yeah, and one absolutely awesome use of The Meters’ “Hey Pocky A-Way.”
Anyway, let’s dig into the MCU and Marvel Comics references we’ve found so far. And remember, if you spot anything we missed, let us know in the comments!

The episode title is taken from Truth: Red, White, and Black, the 2003 miniseries that introduced the concept of Isaiah Bradley and told his tragic story. It references those events extensively, too…

Exclusive: Netflix’s multi-camera comedy series from Jack Dolgen, Doug Mand and Kourtney Kang has rounded out its lead cast with the addition of Olivia Macklin, Michael Hsu Rosen and Cinthya Carmona. They will star opposite Emily Osment and Gregg Sulkin in the project, created and written by Dolgen and Mand and directed by Pamela Fryman.
The Untitled Dolgen/Mand/Kang Project centers on a snooty, self-proclaimed intellectual (Osment) forced to move in with her carefree sister and her sister’s lovably eccentric friends, played by Sulkin, Hsu, Rosen and Carmona.
Macklin will play Claire, scatterbrained optimist and the world’s worst waitress (although the customers love her). She lives a carefree life, surrounded by her best friends. Claire is excited at the prospect of finally bonding with her older sister, Chelsea. Like, really really really really excited!

Paramount is expanding its “Transformers” business.
Marco Ramirez (showrunner for Netflix’s Marvel series “The Defenders”) has signed to write a script for a new, standalone “Transformers” movie based on the Hasbro toy brand, with “Charm City Kings” director Angel Manuel Soto attached to direct.
The project is still in its earliest stages, with Ramirez taking a fresh approach that will not connect to the “Transformers” movies directed by Michael Bay or the “Bumblebee” spin-off directed by Travis Knight. That series remains alive and well, however, with Steven Caple Jr. (“Creed II”) directing a movie set in the “Transformers” Bay-verse that is scheduled for June 2022.
Like practically every other studio in the streaming era, Paramount is clearly invested in growing its “Transformers” franchise to feed the relentless demand for marquee content. The Marvel Cinematic Universe doesn’t exactly have a great track record with female characters. There, I said it. Because despite the fact that these films feature some of Marvel Comics’ most recognizable women in Natasha Romanoff, Carol Danvers, Gamora, Janet Van Dyne, and Jane Foster, too many of these characters are often still stuck languishing on the sidelines, serving as love interests or plot devices, and sometimes both, if they’re lucky.
The various Marvel television series have made much-needed progress in this area – thank you Netflix’s Defenders universe and ABC’s Agents of Shield – but there’s still plenty of work to do. Out of the twenty-plus Marvel feature films, only one has been headlined by a female character (Captain Marvel), though that number will rise to a whopping two whenever Black Widow manages to get released. Most early photographs look haunted. Perhaps it’s because we view these images with the knowledge that the people inside them are already ghosts. In some early photos the subject had actually already expired at the time of their capture. Photography was expensive and the first and best occasion for many families to pay for a portrait was recently after a loved one died.
But some old timey photos are just ineffably creepy beyond any easy explanation. Consider this snapshot of a surgical operating theater in 1890.
Boston City Hospital operating theater, circa 1890 | A. H. Folsom of Roxbury
The experience of seeing primitive surgeons dressed in angelic white, surrounded by seats of mustachioed men wearing their Sunday best and staring down at a lifeless body is so intensely bizarre. Photos like this are dripping with a grim atmosphere that very few documents or art can really capture. One recent entry into the prestige TV canon,...

A “Constantine” series is in early development at HBO Max, Variety has learned from sources.
The search is currently on for an actor to lead the series in the role of John Constantine, with Guy Bolton attached to write. According to sources, the show would tie in to the “Justice League Dark” series that is currently at the works at the streamer with J.J. Abrams executive producing via Bad Robot.
The show would reportedly follow a younger version of the character and focus more on the horror elements of the comics rather than the religious ones.
HBO Max declined to comment.
It has yet to be officially confirmed which DC characters would factor into the “Justice League Dark” series, but Constantine was a part of the team in the comics as were heroes like Swamp Thing, Madame Xanadu, Deadman, and Doctor Mist, among others. Most likely the principal characters on...
