Gen Z drama Bluish (bläu) by Lilith Kraxner and Milena Czernovsky has won the Screen International Award at the C EU Soon work-in-progress programme at Rome’s Mia Market.
Bluish casts a tender look at two young and disoriented characters struggling with their daily lives and is produced by Lixi Frank and David Bohun of Austria’s Panama Film.

A romantic comedy about an Israeli-Palestinian couple based on the real life story of creators Nayef Hammoud and Gal Rosenbluth, the development series “Non-Issue” won the Paramount+ drama prize at this year’s Mia Market, which wrapped its ninth edition on an optimistic note. Of course, well before Friday’s closing award ceremony, the heartbreaking crisis in the Middle East cast a heavy pall over an otherwise ebullient audiovisual market, often informing conversations professional and otherwise.
While a number of industry execs were unable to travel from Israel, and though slated speaker Ari Folman was even forced to cancel a remote interview, attendance was otherwise up across the board. The films selected for the Berlinale Co-Production Market (February 22-26) have been revealed and top 50% by female directors in the official project selection for the first time.

A total of 36 features from 34 countries will be showcased by producers seeking co-production partners through one-to-one meetings with distributors, financiers and sales agents.
For the official project selection, 21 projects with budgets ranging from €750,000 to €5m were selected from more than 300 submissions. With 11 projects by female directors, the proportion here has exceeded 50% for the first time.
