Next stop: Tokyo! In just a few weeks, the 2020 Olympics will introduce the next generation of great American swimmers. While the 53 athletes selected to compete on Team USA is comprised of a hefty handful of Olympic vets, the majority are newcomers—and 11 are still only teenagers! Following Michael Phelps' retirement, all eyes were on Ryan Lochte and Nathan Adrian to continue the United States' Rio 2016 winning streak. But when they failed to make the cut at last month's Olympic trials, swimmers like Caeleb Dressel, Simone Manuel, Ryan Murphy, Allison Schmitt and Katie Ledecky emerged to carry the torch. And speaking of five-time gold medalist Ledecky,...

Nathan Adrian's baby nursery is built for a champion. Before officially becoming parents, the Olympic swimmer and his wife Hallie Adrian made some final touches to their baby girl's nursery and playroom. With help from Pottery Barn Kids, the couple was ultimately able to create spaces grounded in modern furniture, but still filled with plenty of warmth. "For the nursery, we wanted a comfortable/cozy space because it creates an open environment for people to spend time together in," Nathan explained. "Especially for the playroom, we wanted it to be a space that was functional. We wanted that room to be a place that baby Adrian goes to actually play and that we read/spend time together...

There are probably as many stories about the Olympic Village as there are athletes who stay there. The accommodations, which house the competitors at the Summer and Winter Games, include a bank, a salon, a post office, a massive cafeteria and — yes — a McDonald’s.
It’s part dormitory, part dining hall, part lounge; a place to prepare for the defining moment in any athlete’s life and a place to unwind or people-watch before or between competitions.
Despite its sprawl, the village remains off-limits to basically everyone in the world, making it the persistent object of fascination from Olympic spectators every two years.

Standing next to 4x100-meter relay teammates Michael Phelps, Nathan Adrian and Caeleb Dressel, the 21-year-old broke down when "The Star-Spangled Banner" played as the American flag was raised in the Olympic Aquatics Stadium. The Olympic swimming pool in Rio will operate under the careful watch of official lifeguards - because, you know, Michael Phelps might need to be rescued while working on his butterfly. "I don't think they'll need us, but we'll be on the lookout just in case," Anderson Fertes, a Rio Olympics lifeguard, told The New York Times. It's actually a law in Rio de Janeiro to have lifeguards present at swimming pools larger than 20 by 20 feet, according to the publication. So, 75 lifeguards will be on site to monitor the various facilities for swimming, diving, synchronized swimming, water polo and white-water kayaking.
