Exclusive: Angela Bassett and Courtney B. Vance’s film Heist 88, which had been earmarked for Paramount+, will be moving to Showtime, Deadline has learned. Additionally, I hear the network has made decisions on two of its three comedy pilots, handing a six-episode series order to Seasoned, starring Mandy Patinkin and Kathryn Grody, and passing on The Wood, based on the 1999 feature film. Showtime also has opted not to renew Ziwe, hosted and executive produced by comedian Ziwe Fumudoh, for a third season.
Paramount Television Studios, which produces The Wood, will be shopping it elsewhere.
Original movies were a staple on Showtime in the 1980s, 90s and 2000s until the network shifted to original series. The network recently returned to the genre after a14-year break with Ray Donovan: The Movie. The Oscar-winning writing-directing unit of Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, whimsically known as Daniels, have yet to trade in their golden chit and announce their next project. But with 2022’s juggernaut “Everything Everywhere All At Once” winning Best Picture, Best Director(s), Best Original Screenplay, Best Actress (for Michelle Yeoh), Best Supporting Actress (for Jamie Lee Curtis), Best Supporting Actor (for Ke Huy Quan), and Best Editing (for Paul Rogers), plus four additional nominations, on top of being A24’s most successful outing at the box office with a $107 million worldwide gross, you can imagine the sky’s the limit for these two.
Wisely looking to alleviate some of the “what’s next??!” pressure, the pair already have their next credit in the pipeline, at least according to the trades. Similar to a recording artist following up their career-making hit album with “a live one,” Daniels has (have?) already completed...

Winning an Oscar can give you quite the career bump. Just ask Brie Larson or Mahershala Ali who went on to win further awards and land major roles in huge movies (“Captain Marvel” and “Blade”) after their respective Oscar wins in 2016 and 2017.
This year’s winners already have some tantalizing projects lined up. Here’s a rundown of every major Oscar winner’s exciting next projects (note: Best Adapted Screenplay winner Sarah Polley is not included as there is no officially announced project on her slate at this time of writing).

Exclusive: Showtime has opted not to proceed with a third season of Kevin Iso and Dan Perlman’s praised comedy series Flatbush Misdemeanors. The news comes three weeks after the show’s second season ended its run on the network. There is no decision yet for the future of Showtime’s other current comedy series, I Love That for You, whose first season led to Flatbush Misdemeanor’s Season 2.
While Showtime is known mostly for its hourlong dramas/comedy-dramas, the premium network has consistently taken shots at — largely offbeat/irreverent – half-hour comedies that fit its brand. It recently greenlighted pilot Mason, from comedian Nathan Min, who also stars, Daniels, the team behind Everything Everywhere All At Once, Steven Yeun and A24.

The Daniels are transporting viewers to another dimension. Showtime announced Aug. 1 that the Everything Everywhere All at Once writers Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan, a.k.a. The Daniels, are directing and executive producing the new half-hour comedy Mason. Steven Yeun will star in the titular role, alongside comedian Nathan Min. The series is based on Min's real-life experiences, with Showtime describing the show as a "surrealist comedy about a quiet man named Nathan, often misheard as 'Mason,' seeking connection in a loud world." Get ready for Daniels to be behind everything, everywhere all at once.
The directing duo that helmed A24’s record-breaking multiverse film “Everything Everywhere All At Once” officially confirmed an exclusive five-year deal with Universal. Their producer, Jonathan Wang, is also part of the partnership.
Daniels, comprised of Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, similarly followed in Jordan Peele’s footsteps after the “Nope” filmmaker inked a five-year deal with Universal in 2019 after working with the studio for his Oscar-winning directorial debut, “Get Out.”
IndieWire previously advocated for more first-look deals akin to Peele’s arrangement in editor Eric Kohn’s weekly column, which mentioned the Daniels’ existing first-look deal with “Everything Everywhere All at Once” distributor A24, though that deal only extended to TV projects. The structure of the new deal with Universal enables the filmmakers to develop projects with studio resources and would likely also allow them to produce...

Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, the directing duo known collectively as Daniels, signed an exclusive five-year partnership with Universal Pictures.
The agreement, which includes their producing partner Jonathan Wang, comes shortly after their latest film “Everything Everywhere All at Once” cleared a major box office milestone, crossing 100 million in global ticket sales. It’s the first A24 movie, as well as the first independent movie in pandemic times, to hit that box office benchmark.
“Daniels are creators who have evolved their craft with a distinct vision and singular voice that is unmistakable across the spectrum of content vying for viewers’ attention,” said Donna Langley, chairman of Universal Filmed Entertainment Group. “Their films are remarkably theatrical and with only two original projects under their belts, they’ve merely scratched the surface of what they are capable of as filmmakers. We’re grateful they’ve chosen to go on their journey with us.

The filmmaking duo known collectively as Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert) struck rhetorical gold with their multiverse-spanning A24 outing "Everything Everywhere All At Once." The film, which just became A24's first film to cross the 100 million mark at the global box office, had remarkable legs — alongside strong critical acclaim — for a mind-bending feature about a woman who starts jumping through her alternate universe lives while struggling with taxes. It's a wonderful surrealist comedy with action and sci-fi elements, showcasing the directors' creativity and talent in one of the best movies of the year.

TV Cancellations Photo Gallery: Shows Ending In 2022 & Beyond
The 11-minute series launched in 2018 started as an animated short, followed by a live-action short. Its third season aired between November and December 2021.
It follows the mild-mannered Pera as a fictional version of himself, living in Michigan and teaching choir at a middle school. The lo-fi series sees him talk to the audience – Mr Rogers- style about mundane subjects such as breakfast and ironing.
“The more I learn how TV works, the more I realize that it’s kind of a miracle that our quiet, 11-minute show about rocks, beans, grocery stores, and breakfast crews got on the air and lasted as long as it did,” he wrote.
