Members of YouTube’s maker community have continued an annual holiday tradition. Creators like Colin Furze, Emily the Engineer, and Look Mum No Computer (pictured above) built gifts to give to one another as part of a ten-person Secret Santa exchange.
As part of the exchange, all participants uploaded behind-the-scenes videos depicting the construction of their respective gifts. The results of the Secret Santa vary wildly depending on which creators are involved. Some of the presents are flat-out ridiculous, others encourage creativity, and some even seem helpful. Emily the Engineer made This Old Tony a third arm to help him with his productivity. That sounds a bit more useful than Furze’s gift: The inventor helped the children of Kids Invent Stuff improve their fart jokes by building them a rear-powered flamethrower.

Marvel Studios are hard at work on bringing Wolverine into the McU, but it’s going to be a while before we hear that familiar *snikt* in a film. That doesn’t mean we’re short of claw-related badassery to enjoy though, as YouTuber James Hobson (aka The Hacksmith) has just proved. Now known for his recreations of various pieces of movie hardware, including Batman’s grappling gun, Thor’s Stormbreaker, Star Wars’ lightsabers and Iron Man’s Gauntlet, he got his start recreating Wolverine’s claws from the X-Men movies.
His first set of claws were built in 2009 as part of an internship but since then, his construction skills have vastly improved. So, to mark more than a decade of doing this, why not go back to Wolverine and try again? But there’s a twist, as this time he’s doing the ‘bone claws.’

You can bet that a lot of people would step into line to try this out if the cost of the fuel and the experience wasn’t bound to be so insanely high. Those are actual jet engines, resized of course so that Colin Furze can actually wield them after enough practice, that are propelling him off the ground. While the whole thing feels a bit impractical, especially since it would take hours to train every single person and the unit costs would probably be way too high to make this available for the average consumer. British television presenter Rick Edwards attempts to levitate in the trailer for “The Edge of Science,” a new YouTube Original that is the first by BBC Studios for the platform.
In the special, Edwards and his team embark on stunts and carry out experiments to try to explain levitation, speaking to scientists, inventors and experts along the way. “I’m about to do something I’ve always dreamt of but never thought would be possible: levitate,” Edwards says in a darkened studio at the top of the clip.
The presenter said the show was a great fit, given his scientific leanings. “I’ve always been fascinated – fine, obsessed with – science, so I’m delighted that YouTube is letting me explore the mad stuff happening at its outermost reaches,” he told Variety.
The on-screen team on also includes plumber-turned-inventor and YouTube star Colin Furze, MIT physics graduate Dianna Cowern (Aka Physics Girl), Ines Dawson,...

After announcing plans to make all original programming free next month, YouTube’s content head in the Europe, the Middle East, and Africa -- Luke Hyams -- acknowledged that the company’s content strategy is in a transitional stage.
Hyams told Deadline that the company is not looking for scripted projects, but is setting its sights squarely on non-scripted shows. Reports first surfaced that YouTube was pulling back on premium scripted series stateside last November. Deadline reports that three of the service's hallmark programs -- Step Up: High Water, Wayne, and Dark Cargo -- were looking for distribution elsewhere.
Deadline reports that non-scripted content will continue to focus on music, education, and native personalities. To this end, YouTube has ordered three new series. BBC Studios’ The Edge Of Life, starring U.K. presenter Rick Edwards and YouTube inventor and stuntman Colin Furze (pictured above), will put bizarre science ideas to the test.

YouTube is in a “little bit of a transition” in terms of its original commissioning strategy, according to its European content exec Luke Hyams.
Hyams, who is Head of Originals, YouTube, Emea, confirmed that the digital platform is not looking for scripted projects and has commissioned a slew of non-scripted projects.
This comes after Deadline revealed that it had stepped up its scripted pullback in the States, with three projects previously earmarked for its YouTube Premium service, Step Up: High Water from Lionsgate TV, Wayne from Endeavor Content, and Dark Cargo from Entertainment One, looking for new homes. The pullback is part of a programming strategy shift for YouTube as it is moving from an Svod (subscription supported video on demand) to an Avod (ad-supported video on demand) model with a focus on music, learning and personalities fare.

Colin Furze has done it again. The British garage inventor keeps on coming up with the coolest and least safe inventions; we didn’t think he could ever out-invent himself. That is until he makes a voice-activated flamethrower. That’s right. It’s also for absolutely no other reason than the fact that he is Colin Furze and he absolutely can. This video shows Furze building the flame-chucking gadget from scratch, Furze-style of course—with all his bits of comic and crazy. To get started on the gadget, Furze had to ironically obtain an empty fire extinguisher canister to be used as a gas

YouTube is adding to its portfolio of family-friendly Red originals alongside the prank maestro-turned-daily vlogger Roman Atwood, who has amassed more than 23 million subscribers across his two channels to date. While Atwood’s content has ignited controversy in the past -- including several prank videos in which he has pretended to murder his children -- the 34-year-old father of three has now abandoned his prank channel (10 million subscribers) and settled on family vlogs (13 million subscribers).
Roman Atwood’s Day Dreams will see Atwood, his family, and a team of volunteers staging extreme projects to make people’s wildest dreams come true, according to a release -- including creating a monster truck playground in his backyard and attempting a tricycle backflip at Nitro Circus. It sounds vaguely similar to Furze World Wonders, another family-friend YouTube Red series from backyard inventor Colin Furze, in which he puts his invention skills to good use to help other people.

Colin Furze is one of my favorite YouTube personalities. The guy is completely nuts in the most awesome of ways and he spends his time building some of the coolest shit ever! We've posted a bunch of things that he's built in the past and in his latest video we see him race around in his latest project. He's gone ahead and built the world's fastest bumper car! He revamped a 1960's bumper car slapped in a new 600cc engine and made the car capable of doing over 100mph!
As you'll see, he's crazy enough to drive this thing at top speeds... without a helmet!

Last week the wild and crazy inventor extraordinaire Colin Furze teased a huge project he was working on. That project was the construction of a giant At-act from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. He only teased the build in the first video, but now it's complete. In his latest video he shows it off and gives us a tour of the interior! This thing is absolutely incredible! It's the ultimate playhouse for any kid... or adult!
Furze and his team did a spectacularly impressive job with the building of the At-act, and he completely nailed the details. They created this just by using the action figure vehicle from Hasbro as their guide! ...

If you're wondering why we didn't feature a fully fledged At-at in our above image...it's because Colin Furze hasn't shown it yet. Instead, he shows us how to construct a house sized At-at from Star Wars and convert it into a child's playhouse! You'll see some glimpses of the project and will be incredibly jealous the whole way through I promise. Why Can't I Be Obscenely Rich And Have This In My Backyard?! Forget the kids, I Want This.
Check out the build and be sure to check the video again December 9th for the big reveal! Don't worry, we'll probably write about that video too.

So when is someone finally going to offer Colin Furze a television deal? I swear the guy makes news with every wacky invention he makes! I would watch the hell out of a show where a crazy British guy builds crazy stuff just because he can!
His latest work is a 360 degree swing operated by a Paramotor. I feel like only he could create something like that safely enough that I would feel comfortable riding on it! Check it out below.

Everyone always argues this with me when I bring it up, but Iceman is one of the strongest mutants in the X-Men universe! He's right up there with Professor X, Magneto, and Emma Frost! You can dispute that if you want, but I have canonical facts supporting me on that one! Anyway, that's not what we're here to discuss today.
We're here to talk about how, once again, Colin Furze has shocked and amazed us with his ingenuity. He has created what he calls "the closest a human will ever get to Ice Man." Watch him freeze a fake face, make ice cream, and more below!

We cover a lot of Colin Furze here on GeekTyrant, and with good reason. The man is a real life MacGyver for one, and his inventions singlehandedly make me feel like the future is now! He also does a lot of cool shit, and you know we have that on lock here.
His latest video features him simultaneously lighting 5,000 fireworks to celebrate his new subscriber milestone. I didn't want to put "Death Star" in the title as this doesn't even look like the one we're all familiar with, but that doesn't make it any less cool. Watch below!

"Who else but Colin Furze," I said to myself as I watched this video today. Of course the geek mad scientist of the Internet would come up with something like this! He really doesn't have a way to control it (that includes stopping), but I wouldn't be surprised if he's already being contacted by developers wishing to make this commercially viable!
Hell, this looks more safe than those "hover" boards...and it actually hovers!

Colin Furze, aka the evil genius of the internet, has done it again. You thought Wolverine claws would be his legacy? Nah. Thanks to Colin we now have Thermite Launchers, which I don't suggest you try to build on your own because you will likely die using them. For those trying to remember where they've heard the word "Thermite," it's the stuff they use in movies to melt locks and bank safes. Watch Colin do all sorts of unsafe stuff below.
