As Jennifer Lopez walked the red carpet at a fan event for her new movie Atlas, Ben Affleck was nowhere to be seen. The 54-year-old seemed unphased despite rumors flying that there’s trouble in paradise. Lopez smiled with co-stars and feted the sci-fi action thriller — all with a simple wedding band on her ring finger.

Jennifer Lopez has been doing the media circuit for days now. First, she appeared at the Atlas premiere in LA sans her 8.5-carat green diamond engagement ring. The “Queen of Dance” opted for a simple and chic look, donning a white bandeau top and black skirt by Greta Constantine. Although her go-to green jewel was missing, Lopez accessorized with green gems of another kind.

Brad Peyton had his work cut out for him on the set of his new sci-fi action film, Atlas. The Canadian director’s new 2071-set film centers on Jennifer Lopez’s Atlas Shepherd, a data analyst whose deep mistrust of AI is tested to the extreme when she must rely on an AI-driven mech suit to survive after the latest attack by an AI terrorist (Simu Liu’s Harlan).
Having fled Earth nearly three decades earlier, Atlas is finally able to track down Harlan’s distant whereabouts on an alien planet. But just before a team of mech rangers can deploy on a mission to capture the villainous humanoid, Harlan attacks their ship in outer space, forcing Atlas to take refuge inside a mech suit that can land her on Harlan’s home planet. With Lopez’s character now inside a pilotable machine that traverses the surface of an inhospitable planet,...

Yesterday, news broke that ‘Silk: Spider Society’ won’t be moving forward at Amazon. The execs instead decided to focus on a different show, the one revolving around Spider-Man Noir, starring Nicholas Cage.
The reasons for cancelation aren’t exactly clear, with some reasons pointing in the direction of the show having a difficult time with the script, going through at least three versions.
The second reason might be because the show was female-oriented, staring female superhero in the main role, and as we all know those types of projects are struggling in recent times, due to several reasons but mostly due to a lack of female support, if we’re going by the audience numbers.
Now MCU’s Sim Liu, better known as Shang-Chi sent a heartfelt message to fans. The actor says that he is gutted that the show is not moving forward and asks fans to advocate for the show,...

Yesterday, it was announced that ‘Silk: Spider Society’ will not be moving forward at Amazon. Instead, the executives have chosen to focus on a different show centered around Spider-Man Noir, starring Nicholas Cage.
The exact reasons for the cancellation are unclear, but it appears that the show struggled with its script, going through at least three versions.
The second factor could be attributed to the show’s focus on a female superhero in the lead role. Unfortunately, projects of this nature have faced challenges in recent times, likely due to a variety of factors, including a perceived lack of support from female audiences, as indicated by viewership numbers.
Now, MCU’s Simu Liu, renowned as Shang-Chi, has shared a heartfelt message with fans. Expressing his disappointment that the show will not proceed, he urges fans to rally behind it, even though the chances of revival seem slim at best.

‘Megalopolis’ Is Talk Of Cannes
A more straightforward affair: After a tense build-up shaped by endless rumors of an imminent #MeToo expose and a potential labor strike, the first week of this year’s Cannes Film Festival has been a more straightforward affair. The most controversial event so far has been Thursday evening’s premiere of Francis Ford Coppola’s highly-anticipated Megalopolis. The critical response has been predominantly positive, with some very high highs and inevitably a few low lows. Deadline’s Damon Wise praised the movie, calling it a “mad modern masterwork that reinvents the possibilities of cinema”. He said the film is “something of a mess; unruly, exaggerated, and drawn to pretension like a moth to a flame. It is also, however, a pretty stunning achievement, the...

There have been a million thinkpieces about the current state of Marvel Studios. Is Kevin Feige’s record-breaking studio in trouble? Will Bob Iger force the studio to cut down on the number of projects? Do audiences even care anymore? Well, we don’t have real answers about any of that, other than to say things are definitely not as rosy as they were when “Avengers: Endgame” was destroying the box office in 2019.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings made a solid $432 million when it opened in 2021. While that may look like a disappointing number on paper, the box office was still struggling massively in the closing months of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Regardless, with a 91% Rotten Tomatoes score, it remains one of Marvel Studios' best-reviewed Phase 4 titles and put Simu Liu on the map. Unfortunately, the character has been sidelined ever since and it's now been close to three years since we last saw Shang-Chi on our screens.
Destin Daniel Cretton is expected to helm a sequel - rumoured to be titled Shang-Chi and the Wreckage of Time - after moving on from Avengers 5. However, he's currently busy working on Disney+'s Wonder Man series, leaving us to wonder just how much of a priority the Shang-Chi follow-up is.

Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton entering into a unique arrangement, J.Lo fighting evil artificial intelligence, the roasting of an NFL legend, a retelling of the invention of the Pop Tart, Brooke Shields and Benjamin Bratt at war and John Mulaney’s six-night live comedy event from Los Angeles are some of the big titles hitting Netflix in May.
Debuting on May 3 is Jerry Seinfeld’s directorial debut, Unfrosted. The comedy legend works both sides of the camera for this humorous feature take on the birth of the Pop Tart. The movie is set in 1963 as breakfast cereal giants Kellogg’s and Post compete to become the first company to create a morning pastry. Despite recent comments from Iger advocating for prioritizing quality over quantity and with only ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ slated for release in 2024, Marvel Studios shows no signs of slowing down.
With the strike resolved, projects that have long been stuck in development limbo are finally moving forward, and others must be expedited to maintain coherence in the MCU timeline. It’s time for these projects to advance in production.
One long-awaited project is Don Cheadle’s ‘Armor Wars.’ Initially conceived as a movie following the comic storyline of the same name, it was intended as a sequel to ‘Secret Invasion’ (released last year) and ‘Ironheart’ (release date currently unknown). Don Cheadle himself confirmed back in 2011 that a War Machine film was in the works, with Joe Robert Cole hired as the writer. Now, according to NexusPoint News, filming for the project is set to commence in January 2025 in the United Kingdom and Atlanta.

Jennifer Lopez confronts her mistrust of technology to battle artificial intelligence villain Harlan, played by Simu Liu, in the latest trailer for Netflix’s upcoming sci-fi movie Atlas.
In the first trailer for Atlas, Lopez’s data-driven counter-terrorism analyst Atlas Shepherd first showed her deep distrust of AI when disaster strikes. "My primary protocol is to keep you alive." Netflix has launched an official trailer for a sci-fi action movie called Atlas, starring Jennifer Lopez. Arriving to watch this May – it's yet another star-driven expensive spectacle that will be streaming this summer. Also another artificial intelligence-related sci-fi movie, since it's the big tech trend of the moment, there have to be movies about it. Atlas is set in a bleak future, where an A.I. soldier has determined that the only way to end war is to end humanity. Lopez plays a data analyst with a deep distrust of A.I., who joins a mission to capture a renegade robot. When plans go awry, her only hope of saving the future of humanity from AI is to trust it. Co-starring Simu Liu, Sterling K. Brown, Gregory James Cohan, Abraham Popoola, Lana Parrilla, & Mark Strong. From the looks of it, this seems like pro-a.
