The Stanley Film Festival, which will host its debut fest at the iconic and legendary Stanley Hotel in Colorado from May 2-5, has announced its official feature film line-up, with the Eli Roth-starring earthquake thriller Aftershock taking center stage as the fest’s closing night film.
Roth will be on hand to accept the Inaugural Visionary Award and take part in a Q&A after the film.
“Since his debut on the film festival scene with Cabin Fever in 2002, Eli Roth has become a leading force in the horror genre. Wither is a Swedish horror film from directors Sonny Laguna (Blood Runs Cold) and Tommy Wiklund. The film involves Scandinavian folklore and a group of friends caught in the middle of an ancient curse. This title is already expected to release in North America in 2013 through Artsploitation Films. Fans of international horror can preview the film here. A trailer has been released for this title, in late 2012. The clip shows one of the friends becoming a maniacal beast. As well, a movie poster has been released for this title. Longtime DC reader Avery G gave us the heads-up that two new trailers for Wither, which was recently picked up by Artsploitation Films, have been released with English subtitles so at least now we'll have some clue as to what's going on.
By the way, what's going on is very much in the vein of The Evil Dead. Check 'em out!

The company that gave us Hidden in the Woods, Artsploitation Films, has just announced it has three more foreign fright features up its sleeves to lay down upon the waiting horror-hungry masses.
Horror Stories, Memory of the Dead, and Wither will all be given full Stateside releases by the new label based out of Philadelphia. "With this trio, we go deeper into our horror series," says Artsploitation President and CEO Ray Murray. "The three films here are truly edgy, stylish, and creepy; each [has] a new delight that we hope even hardened horror fans will embrace."
