- Sabi was born and raised in Inglewood, California. She has loved the arts since the age of 4, and has been involved in one art form or another from dance, to theatre, to singing her whole life. Sabi comes from a biracial background, with an El Salvadorian mother and African American father, so she speaks Spanish and English. Is a communications major at California State University Long Beach. Landed three commercials via ABC Family, Universal Studios, and Pepsi in 2007. Her film debut struck was in an independent film executive produced by actor Shia LaBeouf, which premiered at the 2008 LA Film Festivals. She was also featured on the web series from the producers of Moesha and the Proud Family entitled "The Lyfe of Kevyn." In the summer of 2009, Sabi joined the Los Angeles based urban/pop group The Bangz, featuring another performer named Ella Ann, that got signed to the indie recording label VNR, Asylum Records and Warner Bros. Records. Not much after, Ella was seriously injured and unable to continue, leaving Sabi to go on alone. However, executives at Warner Bros. loved Sabi's talent and energy and wanted to continue the label's relationship with her as a solo artist. She has been attracting buzz from her collaborations on Britney Spears' song "(Drop Dead) Beautiful" from her #1 album Femme Fatale, Cobra Starship's song "You Make Me Feel..." from their latest album, Night Shades, and the New Boyz' song "Tough Kids" from the album Too Cool to Care. Meanwhile, she's in the studio with Benny Blanco, Dr. Luke and The Cataracs recording her own album.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Guilherme
- When growing up, her influences were TLC, No Doubt/Gwen Stefani, Prince, Alicia Keys, Destiny's Child, Pink, Michael Jackson, Lauryn Hill, Outkast, Aaliyah and the Spice Girls.
- Besides English, she also speaks fluent Spanish.
- Has an El Salvadorian mother and African American father.
- Has an immense passion for singing and song writing.
- Is featured on Cobra Starship's song "You Make Me Feel..." (from their latest album, Night Shades) which peaked at #19 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and topped the charts in New Zeland, which is the band's first chart-topper.
- My dad had cable and my mom didn't, so my sisters and I were glued to the screen watching music videos all day. We especially loved Michael Jackson, Prince, and Sade. That's when I made the decision that I wanted to be a performer. But I knew, even then, that I didn't want to be the girl who's shaking her butt in the corner. I wanted to be the girl running the show.
- [on being featured on a Britney Spears track from her album Femme Fatale (2011)] I grew up watching Britney's videos. It's crazy to want to be a part of the music industry my entire life and then get the opportunity to be featured on a record by one of my idols.
- [Talking about her love with dancing] I remember watching the "Michael Jackson: Moonwalker" video over and over and trying to pick up Michael's moves.
- I used to lock myself in my closet and listen to my favorite songs and try to imitate the singer. No matter who it was, Justin Timberlake, Brandy Norwood, or Alicia Keys, I could mimic exactly how they sounded. That's how I got comfortable with my voice.
- I'm a pop artist, but I want to bring some rawness and urban swagger to the table. I'm really inspired by artists like Lauryn Hill, Bat for Lashes, Florence and the Machine, and Lykke Li. They are strong women with a unique point of view who have something substantial to say. I want to be able to address real issues in my songs, but still keep it sounding fun. It's okay to have party songs, but I don't want to make cookie-cutter music. I'm looking forward to everyone hearing what I can do.
