USA Network legal drama Suits has entered an important second phase in its TV life. After airing throughout the 2010s on basic cable, the show about a very busy New York law firm has become an unexpected hit in the streaming world.
Though all nine seasons of the series have been available to stream on Peacock for awhile now, the addition of the first eight seasons to Netflix on June 17 helped supercharge its popularity. According to Nielsen, Suits has broken streaming records with the number of minutes it was streamed across multiple platforms this summer. Anecdotally, you may even know of several folks cranking through the show’s 134 episodes right now – or maybe that person is even you!
While Suits‘ “second phase” as a bona fide streaming phenomenon is an impressive achievement for any show with cable origins, there is still one more phase in the TV life cycle it needed to conquer: a spinoff.

There will no second season for Hulu comedy Maggie. The streaming service has canceled the series, starring Rebecca Rittenhouse, after one season, Deadline has confirmed.

Maggie’s gift allows her to see into the future of her friends, parents, clients and random people on the street. But when she begins to see glimpses of her own destiny after meeting an unexpected stranger, her romantic life suddenly gets a lot more complicated. Rebecca Rittenhouse has an idea of what it's like to see into the future. In the new Hulu series Maggie, the actress plays a psychic whose visions sometimes cause more chaos than clarity. Navigating one's thirties can be challenging enough but throw in unconventional powers and there are is sure to be some extra twists and turns along the way. But that's exactly what drew Rebecca to the series and her titular character. "I just found her to be a very relatable character," she told E! News. "She has a career, which is based on this gift that she has, but she's also still finding her footing within that and being confident in that. And then she's also struggling in her...

Hulu's new psychic romantic comedy, Maggie, is different than other rom-coms. It premiered on July 8th.
It follows Maggie (Rebecca Rittenhouse), a fortune teller who can see the future. She's been unlucky in love and avoids it because of her powers.
Her life changes when she reads Ben's (David Del Rio) palms and sees them together in the future. We chatted with David Del Rio about modern dating and this unusual love triangle involving fate. Check out the interview below:
Hi David. I have enjoyed your acting since I saw you in The Baker and The Beauty. Do you think that role helped enhance your popularity?
I don't know. I ignore that, but I do know that ever since the series streamed on Netflix, I would get stopped in the street. For me, it's not Baker and The Beauty as much as people calling me Mc Cubano on the street.

When Hulu’s “Maggie” dropped their whole season in July, I binged the whole thing.
Like many viewers, I found myself inexplicably drawn to the 13-episode comedy about the titular psychic (Rebecca Rittenhouse) who can see everyone’s future but her own — until she does a reading for Ben (David Del Rio) and sees the two of them getting married. A foretold happily ever after that seems too good to be true quickly unravels, throwing Ben and his girlfriend (Chloe Bridges) into the lives of Maggie and her parents (a superb Kerri Kenney-Silver and Chris Elliot). Less “That’s So Raven” and more “Four Weddings and a Funeral,” the premise is simple, silly, and sweet. The love interest is suitably charming, and the friends surrounding Maggie sufficiently quirky and endearing to keep me invested for hours on end. “Maggie” won’t be on my personal best of 2022 lists, nor will it...

Just as Maggie (Rebecca Rittenhouse) seemed to have accepted how things were — her loss of visions, Ben’s (David Del Rio) future with Jessie (Chloe Bridges) — the Season 1 finale of the Hulu rom-com changed everything. (Maggie was originally in the works at ABC.) At Amy (Angelique Cabral) and Dave’s (Leonardo Nam) rehearsal dinner, Jessie revealed she knew about Maggie and Ben’s past … and found out the others already had. After a night of fighting, Ben admitted to Amy that he’d assumed he and Jessie would end up together, but thought it would be easier. Meanwhile, Maggie apologized to Jessie and took the blame for Ben not telling her. Still, Jessie wanted someone who wanted to build a future with her, and she didn’t think Ben did. Richard Cartwright/Hulu However, after Angel (Ray Ford) suggested Maggie lost her visions because she wasn’t using her gift...

You might assume a gift for seeing into the future would make dating simpler: You could avoid the time suck and heartache of investing in flirtations destined to go nowhere, or double down during rough patches with full confidence your efforts will pay off. According to Maggie, you’d be wrong. Hulu’s half-hour centers on a chipper but emotionally reserved 30-something psychic (Rebecca Rittenhouse), whose glimpses of a potential future with a cute guy named Ben (David Del Rio) only complicate her love life — especially once Ben moves into the other half of her duplex with his high school sweetheart, Jessie (Chloe Bridges).
It doesn’t take a fortune-teller to imagine the hijinks that that ensue, though Maggie‘s amiable tone lands closer to likable than irresistible. To put it in terms its looking-for-love heroine might understand: This series is a nice summer fling,...

It can feel at times as though the logical endpoint of the streaming revolution is a restaging of the TV landscape of, say, 1990, just atomized across vastly more players. It’s inevitable: With so much content, certain traditional, and perhaps little-missed, forms can’t help returning. You have, in shows like “The Dropout” and “WeCrashed,” highbrow (and well-made!) versions of ripped-from-the-headlines miniseries that used to draw ratings on networks; some of Netflix’s sub-”Stranger Things” genre content would feel right at home in a syndication block with “Xena” and “Hercules.” And now, with “Maggie,” its new series about a psychic looking for love from “Life in Pieces” vets Justin Adler and Maggie Mull, Hulu revives the tradition of the Tgif sitcom — for grownups, sort of.
Rebecca Rittenhouse, of “The Mindy Project,” plays Maggie, whose “That’s So Raven”-esque visions of the future provide her insight and curse her with social turbulence.

There are some things even psychics can’t predict, as the new Hulu comedy proves. Maggie follows the titular character, played by Rebecca Rittenhouse, who had enough trouble dating before her gift as a psychic led to her seeing her own destiny in the future of a stranger, Ben (David Del Rio). But can she let herself fall in love when it’s especially complicated, since she gets glimpses that make here think she knows how it ends and he has a girlfriend (Chloe Bridges’ Jessie)? Richard Cartwright/Hulu Here, Rittenhouse details the challenges Maggie’s facing as a psychic and in her personal life in the new series. How does how Maggie handles being a psychic change throughout the season? Because her gift isn’t new to her, but some things about it are. Rebecca Rittenhouse: She has a really big arc throughout this first season where she really...

ABC’s Maggie has a new home: The romantic comedy, which was originally slated to air this season on the Alphabet network, is relocating to Hulu. Maggie will no longer be putting down roots on ABC.
The single-camera comedy will now stream exclusively on Hulu, Deadline reports.
News of the decision comes as a bit of a surprise, but fellow broadcast networks have been moving shows earmarked for the linear networks to streaming.
CBS, in particular, moved both Evil and Seal Team to Paramount+, but both series has previously spent at least a full season on the linear network.
Deadline notes that ABC's decision was brought on due to a lack of schedule space to slot the Rebecca Rittenhouse midseason comedy.
It was one of four ABC pilots to nab series orders on the network last season.
The Wonder Years launched in the fall and has been a decent ratings performer, but Queens has largely been a disappointment in the traditional ratings.
ABC's comedy roster also includes Home Economics, Abbott Elementary, The Conners, black-ish, and The Goldbergs.

Exclusive: Single-camera comedy series Maggie, originally picked up by ABC for the 2021-22 season, now will stream exclusively on sibling Hulu in the U.S. as a Hulu Original. The decision, underscoring the blurring of the lines between linear and streaming at the major media companies, was made in order to get Maggie in front of audiences instead of keeping it on the bench because of a lack of available slots on the network.
A premiere date will be announced later.
Maggie, starring Rebecca Rittenhouse as a young woman trying to cope with life while coming to terms with her abilities as a psychic, was one of four ABC pilots ordered to series last May along with comedies The Wonder Years and Abbott Elementary and drama Queens.
