Richard Roundtree’s two-fisted detective tale burst on the scene announcing that a craze called Blaxploitation was on the way. No matter that the movie is somewhat slow and drab — John Shaft was the identification figure denied black audiences for 60 years, a hero who takes no guff from nobody and consistently tells The Man where to head in. In the last song of the film, Jai Baba Bank Chor, Riteish can be seen dancing along with Dhoom stars Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, Aishwarya Rai, John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra inside the actual footage from the Dhoom series. Coincidentally, managing to pull off this miraculous feat is also the reason behind the title of the song: Jai Baba Bank Chor indeed!
With Jai Baba Bank Chor, the completely mental marketing campaign of Bank Chor peaks with the ‘chori ka gaana’ showing that the Bank Chors can perhaps steal everything, but suck at doing it too well.

The Bank Chor trailer had many unsurprising elements to it – Riteish Deshmukh doing a comedy again, Vivek Anand Oberoi following him, the fact that it is called Bank Chor, etc – but there’s one element that surely managed to surprise shock people: a Baba Sehgal cameo.
Unofficially the world’s worst special appearance ever, India’s favourite superstar rapper Baba Sehgal, who plays himself in the movie, has also created what could easily be called the world’s maddest rap song ever.
The song, with an innovative hookline that goes, ‘Bank Chor, *gibberish*, Bank Chor’, is a rap number that was created and sung by Baba impromptu during the shoot of Bank Chor (and it shows). 24 hours later, he turned it into a song with lyrics no one can get into their heads and music that no one can get out of their heads.
It seems that after the ‘Cups Challenge’ with their last song,...

Move over ‘Pen Apple Pineapple Pen’ and ‘Eye to Eye’, it’s now time for a Bollywood song to be stuck in people’s heads! Bank Chor presents ‘Tashreef’, the most ‘kick-ass’ song of the year, featuring a hook line that’ll make everyone get up (from their bums) and take notice.
An ode to the most ignored part of the human anatomy – the bum – the song is for everyone who has been kicked in the nether regions by the universe but hasn’t found a polite way of saying it. Well, the Bank Chors have obliged with a phrase that is sure to resonate with the common man: ‘Lag gayi tashreef’.
The music video of the song, featuring the three worst chors ever, Champak, Genda and Gulab, shows what literally happens when everything that has to go wrong, goes wrong, or basically when life is pointing at you and laughing its tashreef off!

Two days ago, Y-Films launched the trailer of Bank Chor to no fanfare whatsoever. Barring Riteish Deshmukh and 2-3 of his Twitter friends, no one was excited about another film starring him in the lead. There was also no press conference or event because clearly, the makers of this “comedy” have no money left (#haisiyat). So in a desperate bid to grab attention, Y-Films has come up with the dumbest marketing idea ever thought of within the whole of Andheri: An Imaandaar trailer.
A logic-defying, sense-defying and completely unnecessary idea that will almost certainly backfire and ruin any chance Y-Films had of getting people to a theater, the Imaandaar trailer reveals everything about the movie that most studios Never do… imaandaari se. It seems that the makers are fully aware that by casting the likes of Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Anand Oberoi, Rhea Chakraborty and Baba Sehgal (Lol) and getting someone...

Bank robbery films have always been cool, sexy & dangerous. And the legacy of the Dhoom franchise is testimony to that. Now Y-Films, the youth wing of Yash Raj Films, is all set to destroy that with their new feature, Bank Chor.
The film’s trailer launched today, introduces the worst bank chor Ever: Champak Chandrakant Chiplunkar, a simple Marathi manoos played by Riteish Deshmukh who picks the worst day possible to rob a bank. To make matters worse, he recruits 2 idiots from Delhi who’ve never even picked a pocket in their lives. Top that with the craziest bunch of hostages including a high-strung housewife, a hyper chef, a possibly undercover cop… and Baba Sehgal [yeah, ‘Thanda Thanda Pani’ wala!]. How could it get any worse, right?
Wrong! Enter tough as nails supercop, Cbi officer Amjad Khan played by Vivek Oberoi, who shoots first and interrogates later. And a mad media circus outside led by...

The king of desi rap, the thanda thanda guy, the dil dhadke sensation, Baba Sehgal joins the crazy cast of Y-Films’, Bank Chor.
Baba plays himself in the film and is one of the crazy hostages who gets stuck inside the bank during the heist and drives everyone, including the robbers, the bank employees, customers and other hostages’ bananas with his rapping.
An excited Ashish Patil, Producer, Y-Films quoted, “We’re supremely excited to have India’s first rapper, Baba Sehgal join us for a cameo in Bank Chor. The part was specially written in a later draft as both Bumpy (the Director) & I are huge fan boys of the man. Baba agreed to do it in one conversation flat and is doing it pretty much for love. He’s also been entertaining the crew with his batty raps that he makes up on the spot about everything from the...

After the much spoken about exit of Kapil Sharma and the entry of Riteish Deshmukh in Yrf's film Bank Chor, the latest update on the film is that Rhea Chakraborty has been signed up as the female lead opposite Riteish. Speaking about the film, Rhea said that she was really delighted to be a part of the roller coaster ride kind of film. On the other hand, Yrf's Ashish Patil said that the reason for them to select Rhea was because they wanted someone who was a package of spunk, hot and cuteness. He added that they were confident that Rhea not just fitted the bill but also has a whacky sense of humor, which is needed for this film. Bank Chor will be directed by Bumpy.

We first saw the fab Taaha Shah in Yrf’s cool, young comedy Love Ka The End. His character was an anti-hero, which was a first of its kind for a Bollywood film. He received fabulous reviews for his performance, and here at BollySpice we named him on our list of one of the best newcomers of 2011. Audiences have been eagerly waiting to see what he will wow us with next, and that is Sonam Nair’s Gippi, which opens this Friday. Once again, the actor is trying something new because Gippi, like Luv Ka, is not your average Hindi film, and from what we hear he has once again done an amazing job. It was a complete pleasure to talk with Taaha about his journey to Bollywood, his first day on a set, working on Gippi, and what’s next! Read on to find out what he told us in this exclusive interview!

Yash Raj Films introduced Bollywood to youth films with a vision to make films for the youth, of the youth, by the youth. Within just a span of one year, Y-Films became the defining launch pad for fresh talent. The studio has put up over 32 names of directors, actors, music composers, assistant directors, editors, DOPs, writers, costume designers, animators on the silver screen. But, having said that, these were not straight- outta-college newbies. Most of the talent launched has been around, assisting reputed technicians or making their mark in the advertising or television space for quite a while. What Y-Films gave them was a fabulous platform. And each of them now has a film to their credit. That too in a Yash Raj film!

So is Arjun Kapoor's debut film Virus Diwan shelved? That's the news doing the rounds of the industry since quite some time. It seems, after Y-Films' first venture Luv Ka The End didn't fare as expected at the box-office, the Chopras and Ashish Patil, who is heading Y-Films, did some serious rethinking over their forthcoming projects and decided to start a fresh project with Arjun instead. However, Ashish Patil of Y-Films denies the rumor outright. "Virus Diwan is very much on track. The subject remains the same and so does the title. In fact, we are fine-tuning it, locking the dialogue of the film currently. We have also shortlisted three girls for the project." Bumpy, who had directed Luv Ka The End, is also directing Virus Diwan. "There's no change whatsoever. The only change is, we won't be releasing the film on 30 December, as announced at the outset.
