Joseph Rubanoff
- Writer
Joseph Rubanoff came to Los Angeles in 1946 after his World War II army
service in the European Theatre of operations. Playwright Joseph
Rubanoff is a former Los Angeles Deputy City Attorney. As a playwright
he has written plays in all genres, but he has a particular affinity
for farce, a fact that may say something about his background in the
legal profession. Mr. Rubanoff's play, A Necessary End, was produced
and directed by the late Roy Brocksmith at the California Cottage
Theatre. Drama Logue designated the play as a critic's choice. L.A.
weekly claimed it 'pick of the week.' Many of Mr. Rubanoff's plays have
been presented as staged readings and have delighted audiences in
numerous Los Angeles venues. Mr. Rubanoff is married and has three
children. His daughter, Annie Wood, also a playwright, but primarily an
actress, appears frequently in theatre, film and television. Mr.
Rubanoff is a member of the California Bar, the Alliance of Los Angeles
Playwrights, and the Dramatists Guild.
