An NBC News correspondent has been suspended after his Today report on the details of the attack on Paul Pelosi was later retracted by the network.
Miguel Almaguer was suspended pending an internal investigation, The Daily Beast reported. A source confirmed the suspension.
An NBC News spokesperson said that “as a matter of practice, we do not generally comment on personnel matters.” Almaguer did not return a request for comment.
The report, which aired on Today on Nov. 4, was on Pelosi’s return home from the hospital after he was struck with a hammer by an assailant in his home last week. Amaguer reported that Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, answered the door for police, responding to a 911 call, but the officers were “seemingly unaware they had been called to the home of the speaker of the House.” Pelosi, though, “did not immediately declare an emergency...

The manager of the Oakland warehouse that caught on fire, killing at least 36 people over the weekend, spoke briefly to reporters on Sunday amid reports that the space was the subject of numerous safety complaints.
Derick Ion Almena told Kgo at the Oakland Marriott City Center on Sunday night in a message to the victims, “They’re my children. They’re my friends, they’re my family, they’re my loves, they’re my future. What else do I have to say?” Alameda County Sheriff Gregory Ahern said Monday that no more bodies are likely to be pulled from the rubble.

You've probably gathered from all the Twitter whining that Los Angeles (and the rest of Southern California) is being hit hard by a major rainstorm. Watch this NBC News report about the storm from reporter Miguel Almaguer -- it'll be even more effective when you know that Almaguer had to be rescued by firefighters after getting stuck in the mud during his broadcast.
Almaguer waded out into four feet of mud to film a shot for the report about how the record amounts of rain could mean disastrous mudslides that have already closed roads. "Even when it rains I've never seen it this violent and gnarly," says a local.
Warns a fire department spokesperson, "As the mud is flowing, the fire department personnel cannot get to you."
Perhaps Almaguer should have followed that advice, as he got stuck shortly thereafter and was pulled out by two firefighters who were passing by.
