Rome, Feb 15 (Ians) Romelu Lukaku took the center-stage at the San Siro as the Belgian scored two and set up another, helping Inter Milan conquer Lazio 3-1 to leapfrog AC Milan, into the top place of Serie A.
Both sides were in sharp form on Sunday as a win would secure Inter the top place while Lazio was coming off six consecutive Serie A victories, reports Xinhua news agency.
Inter players wore a special edition jersey with their names in Chinese characters to celebrate the Chinese Spring Festival.
The home side went ahead in the 21st minute as Lukaku laid it off for Lautaro Martinez, the Argentine broke into the box and was brought down by Wesley Hoedt. Lukaku stepped up to convert the resulting penalty, sending Pepe Reina the wrong way.

Last summer saw Brendan Rodgers spend over £100 million as he aimed to improve on the squad that challenged for the Premier League title last season.
There was a huge squad overhaul with the likes of Daniel Agger, Iago Aspas, Luis Alberto, Luis Suarez, Martin Kelly and Pepe Reina all being shown the Anfield exit door, arguably some of them should still be at the club.
With the money that Liverpool got from the sale of Suarez, they invested it on improving the depth of the squad so they could challenge for the title again.
Some of the players Rodgers brought in failed to impress in the early stages of their Liverpool career, most notably Dejan Lovren and Mario Balotelli.
The signings had all Liverpool fans excited for this season, and a recent turn in results suggests that the squad is now starting to gel. However, they...

During the Premier League era, Liverpool have been a club who are known to spend money. This summer alone, manager Brendan Rodgers topped the £100M mark, bringing in the likes of Adam Lallana and Mario Balotelli to strengthen Liverpool’s squad as they plot a title challenge.
Rodgers has continued a tradition from former managers Gerard Houllier and Rafa Benitez who also weren’t afraid to splash the cash at Anfield, but his predecessors did so with mixed results.
There’s been many a player in the past who the Reds have well and truly over-paid for, with the £35M they paid for Andy Carroll undoubtedly the worst, along with fees paid for the likes of El Hadji Diouf and Djbril Cisse.
However, the Reds are no strangers to bargains either and have signed some of the world’s best players for a cut...

Last season Southampton were the Premier League’s surprise package. In just their second year back in the top flight, and having fought against relegation the previous year, Saints impressed fans and rival managers with both their results and their enterprising, technically skilled football. It came as no surprise after all that to see a number of Southampton players featuring at this summer’s World Cup, including three in the England squad. Since then, though, all three of those players have followed manager Mauricio Pochettino in leaving the South coast behind and that is just the beginning.
The Saints exodus has continued this week with troubled forward Dani Osvaldo sent on loan to Inter Milan, with Saphir Taider going in the other direction. At this rate it is likely that there will be more familiar names in the Liverpool line-up than Southampton’s...

Nothing like a guys trip to Victoria's Secret ... at least for Team Spain -- because Sergio Ramos and his superstar teammates hit up the lingerie shop in D.C. today and TMZ Sports has the footage. Ramos -- one of the best soccer players in the world -- hit up the thong section in Vs while a female employee showed him a series of options ... likely a gift for his super hot Gf Pilar Rubio.

Liverpool have a big summer ahead of them: despite over-achieving this season, and only missing out on winning the title after an agonising slip-up – quite literally – against Chelsea, and a frustrating draw against resurgent Crystal Palace some unthinkably have called Liverpool’s second place finish a failure. Paul Merson – a man unafraid of bold statements that don’t always trouble logic – likened the “capitulation” to Newcastle’s spectacular implosion in 1995/96, which the Anfield side had a major hand in, and though that is a particularly ludicrous assessment, the fact that Brendan Rodgers came so close now changes the playing field for his side.
Even if Liverpool’s objectives next season are only to finish in the top four, since they came ahead of schedule this year, their achievements will be tempered by the fact that they almost won the league this season, and all pragmatism aside, any...

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has knocked back an approach from former Reds manager Rafa Benitez to take Danish defender and club vice-captain Daniel Agger on loan to Napoli.
The Liverpool Echo revealed that Benitez, who brought 29-year-old Agger to Anfield in 2006, wanted a reunion in Naples, but Rodgers and the club vetoed any move for the Dane.
Agger has been in and out the Reds XI this season, making eight Premier League starts from 16 matches. His last Liverpool appearance came in the 5-1 home win over Norwich, though he was back among the subs for the 5-0 away victory at Spurs.
Rodgers told the local press that it’s up to Agger and other fringe players to force their way into his thinking. “Anytime anyone is on the bench there shouldn’t be a question about whether he goes or do other clubs want to take someone on loan,...

Gonzalo Higuain and Jose Callejon struck second half goals as Napoli gloriously failed to reach the Champions League knockout stages as Arsenal scraped through ahead of them on goal difference.
Provided the Gunners did not lose by three they were through to the last 16 and a late winner for Borussia Dortmund in the other group game in Marseille meant they advanced too.
Arsene Wenger rested Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere with a trip to Manchester City coming up on Saturday for the Premier League leaders. Mathieu Flamini and Tomas Rosicky came into the Arsenal XI. Carl Jenkinson continued to deputize at right back for Bacary Sagna.
Napoli, coached by former Liverpool and Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez, had former Arsenal target Higuain leading their attack. On-loan keeper Pepe Reina, still on the books at Anfield, sat this one out for the hosts, however.

Arsenal simply need to avoid a three-goal defeat in Naples to secure qualification to the Champions League knockout stages. Only a win for Napoli is enough else they will have to settle the Europa League.
The Gunners can guarantee they top Group F with a point against Rafa Benitez’s side. Arsene Wenger already has a home win over Napoli to his credit in the reverse fixture on matchday two. Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud were on target for Arsenal that night on 1 October with early goals.
Team News
Benitez is sweating on the fitness of on-loan goalkeeper Pepe Reina after he missed Napoli’s 3-3 weekend draw with Udinese because of an unspecified muscle problem. Swiss utility man Valon Behrami, once of West Ham, is also doubtful. Slovakia national skipper Marek Hamsik is definitely out for the hosts with a foot injury.

Veteran goalkeeper Shay Given is wanted by Liverpool as back-up to Simon Mignolet, according to the Sun.
The Aston Villa shot-stopper was set for a season-long loan to Doncaster after being informed he is deemed surplus to requirement at the Midlands club.
However, Liverpool are now in talks over a deal for the 37-year-old and sources claim the move is set to be given the thumbs up.
Given, who has played for Newcastle United and Manchester City, won the Fa Cup with the latter side before moving on to Villa following the emergence of Joe Hart in 2011.
The Republic of Ireland international has made 37 appearances with the Villans but only two in the Premier League last season after falling down the pecking order behind Brad Guzan.
Liverpool have allowed Pepe Reina to move to Napoli on loan and only have Brad Jones as back-up as things stand.
