The Western revival is underway. After a decade of bro-country sounds and style, where 808s and baseball caps outnumbered steel guitars and Stetsons, country is looking west for a refresh. Record labels are signing artists like Ian Munsick, Catie Offerman, and Tyler Halverson, who grew up around horses and cattle. Festivals are being held on actual ranches. And stars are stepping out, hats to boots, in fresh-off-the-runway Western wear. Even songwriters who play cowboys on TV, like Yellowstone’s Luke Grimes, are dropping country albums.

At the last Grammy Awards, Taylor Swift made history by taking home a fourth Album of the Year trophy. In doing so, she became the recording artist with the most wins in the category ever, breaking her tie with Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, and Paul Simon. Such an impressive feat is unlikely to be repeated anytime soon, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t other records that could be broken in the general field in the foreseeable future.

Bruno Mars recently entered the ninth year of his residency at Park MGM in Las Vegas, which he extended with 12 shows taking place throughout 2024.

I throw around the concept of “Grammy darlings” a lot, but what exactly constitutes a Grammy darling? Is it just an artist who doesn’t lose Grammys often, like U2, Adele or Bruno Mars? Let’s go through a few top names.
Beyoncé: Darling
Listen, the most awarded person in Grammy history is definitely a darling. Granted, she has yet to win Album of the Year. However, more impressively, all of her projects have won at least one Grammy. Most have won multiple, including “Dangerously in Love,” “Lemonade,” and “Renaissance.” Beyoncé also gets nominations for pretty much anything she submits, and will likely become the first artist to nab nominations in rap, rock, R&b, dance, pop and country. On top of all that, it’s rare for Beyoncé to miss nominations in the general field, especially with no nominations review committees anymore to potentially force her out.

Elvis Presley‘s “Don’t Cry Daddy” was written by a country musician who wrote songs for numerous other stars. The country musician in question wasn’t a big fan of the track at first. “Don’t Cry Daddy” went on to become a hit and it appeared on one of the “Don’t Be Cruel” singer’s most important records.

While “A Little Less Conversation” is one of Elvis’ most famous songs today, it was meant for another singer. Notably, the tune became a hit in the 1960s and again in the 2000s.
Elvis Presley’s ‘A Little Less Conversation’ was written for a musical
“A Little Less Conversation” was written by Mac Davis. He was a country singer who had several hits. In addition, he wrote tunes for artists such as Elvis, Weezer, Avicii, Kenny Rogers, and Bruno Mars. During a 2010 interview with Smashing Interviews Magazine, Davis discussed writing “A Little Less Conversation” for Elvis’ musical Live a Little, Love a Little.

Given her current status as one of the world’s biggest pop stars, Billie Eilish is no stranger to the spotlight. Her breakthrough single, Ocean Eyes, catapulted her into stardom at the tender age of 14. Her ascent to superstardom has only gotten stronger since then. That is a lot for a teenager of that age!
Eilish, now 22, has won multiple awards, including nine Grammys and records for Spotify streaming time, because of her extraordinary talent and iconic style—not to mention her ‘ocean eyes’. Consequently, she is the focus of attention all the time. Her romantic relationships, however, are something she has managed to successfully keep hidden from the public.

Regardless, the most recent rumor about her love life has taken things to a whole new level. To be honest, you might be shocked to hear that she was once inspired...

The February 21 episode of We Are Family brought three more performers and their famous relatives from the sports, music, and acting world. This Fox celeb guessing game challenges 100 audience members to decide who is behind the “Super Sphere” based on clues and the family member on stage singing. Those who are correct split the prize money in the first two rounds with one getting a crack at $150,000 in the third. Starting things off were Dominic and his mom Niecy Nash-Betts. The Emmy winner sang alongside her oldest on “Can You Stand the Rain” by New Edition following his solo of “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson with Bruno Mars. Dominic initially tipped off the players by saying he was worried about forgetting the lyrics. A nod to Nash-Betts’ hosting gig of Don’t Forget the Lyrics. The show, which also saw reveals of basketball legend Dwight Howard and rapper French Montana,...

Billie Eilish makes noise on the Internet, not with her songs but apparently due to expressing her opinion over the presence of Tiktokers at the People’s Choice Awards this Sunday. She became a hot topic among influencers after a video was released online that captured the singer’s words where she seemingly commented on Tiktokers’ presence at the event.

However, her comments didn’t sit well with the content creators community. As a famous Tiktoker, Bryce Hall addressed the apparent criticism, her fans defended the A-lister, supporting her nuance.

Billie Eilish is quite vocal, no doubt. At the People’s Choice Awards this weekend, the 22-year-old pop sensation appeared to speak the truth, albeit unfiltered. The nine-time Grammy Award winner has sparked controversy once again following the release of a video online in which she expressed her irritation due to the presence of famous TikTokers.
The recent lip-reading scandals at award shows that engulfed celebrities like Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, and Emily Blunt appear to have taught Eilish nothing. Expectedly, her recent irritation caused a great deal of anger within the online community, inviting the wrath of TikTokers.
Despite the wrath of TikTok users, her devoted fan base has defended her, emphasizing her right to express herself and questioning the validity of the criticism.

I don’t know if Bill Hader’s Stefon character was necessarily the target audience for the Super Bowl Lviii halftime show, but the easiest way to review the Usher-centric performance would be to say that Las Vegas’ hottest late-afternoon showcase had everything: Usher. Alicia Keys. The Jackson State “Sonic Boom” Marching Band. Bendy Cirque du Soleil acrobats. A Starlight Express tribute. Lil Jon. H.E.R. Usher’s abs. Usher in a bedazzled suit with added abs. Ludacris. Lots and lots and lots of hits.
I don’t know if Usher’s performance is going to generate the same volume of news coverage as Rihanna’s pregnancy-revealing halftime from Glendale, Arizona, last year, but in terms of overall showmanship, it was in a different league. I’d say Usher put on the best one-man Super Bowl halftime since Bruno Mars a decade ago and Beyoncé the year before...

February 4 was a big night for Taylor Swift, as she took home her fourth Album of the Year Grammy for “Midnights,” an achievement no other performer has ever managed. The Grammys handing out a fourth Album of the Year trophy to anyone is a big deal. But, strangely enough, Swift’s path to victory this time was arguably smoother than all of her previous wins.
Swift was aided by a couple of factors. The first and perhaps most obvious was that 2023 was simply the year of Taylor Swift. “Midnights” was a huge success commercially, achieving over 1.5 million album units in its first week, her biggest week ever at the time and a remarkable achievement for anyone’s 10th studio album. She followed that with the iconic Eras Tour, which is already the highest grossing tour of all time despite not being over yet. Additionally, the album produced multiple hit singles,...

Taylor Swift’s historic fourth Album of the Year win
After Taylor Swift’s Album of the Year win for “Midnights,” Noah claimed she was the first person to win Album of the Year four times. That is not exactly correct — engineers Tom Coyne, Serban Ghenea, and John Hanes had won four times before “Midnights” — but Swift is indeed the first woman and first performer to win this many times, following her victories for “Fearless,” “1989” and “Folklore.” This historic win is a testament to Swift’s ability to make consistently successful albums,...

Some of the writers behind Elvis Presley‘s songs were true masters of the craft. Case in point, the artist who penned Elvis’ “A Little Less Conversation” wrote a hit for Avicii. The artist discussed working for the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll and working for the King of Edm.
A songwriter broke through writing songs for Elvis Presley before having his own career
Mac Davis was a songwriter extraordinaire. In addition to having a successful country career of his own, he wrote hits for others, including Bruno Mars’ “Young Girls” and Avicii’s “Addicted to You.” He might be most famous today for writing Elvis classics such as “In the Ghetto,” “A Little Less Conversation,” “Don’t Cry Daddy,” and “Memories.” During a 2015 interview with Billboard, Davis discussed writing “Memories” for the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
“That was the first real hit I had,” he recalled. “I wrote for Elvis’ comeback special.

The Grammy for Record of the Year is one of the most important awards at the event. Honoring the craft of performing, engineering and producing our favorite tunes, the award has historically gone to some of the most legendary songs of all time, ranging from Henry Mancini‘s “Moon River” to Celine Dion‘s “My Heart Will Go On.” This year we have a genuine race full of huge contenders, including acclaimed indie singer-songwriters, blockbuster pop smashes, and a couple industry favorites with a lot of love this year.
Perhaps the least likely winner is Victoria Monét’s “On My Mama,” based on the fact that there’s a much higher-profile R&b hit here that will likely take the most support from that voting bloc, not to mention that the song isn’t as ubiquitous as some of the others here. Jack Sussman is exiting CBS after more than 25 years. The exec, who first joined CBS in 1998 as head of CBS Specials, has served as executive vice president of specials, music and live events at CBS Entertainment since March 2006, adding responsibility for all alternative programming in 2020. He won’t be straying too far from the Eye network, however: Moving forward, Sussman will segue into a role as an EP for The Tony Awards and The Kennedy Center Honors starting in 2024.
Sussman will depart following the upcoming Grammy Awards.

There’s a reason the word honors is in the title. To help celebrate the lifetime contributions of artists in music, dance, theater, opera, movies and TV, the Kennedy Center Honors routinely pay tribute to its recipients by rewarding them with memorable performances.
Scores of artists have been feted since the Honors got their start in 1978, but there are certain tributes that remain sketched in our hearts forever. Creed’s previous clients have included Bruno Mars and Lizzo. He announced the launch of Good World Management in July, bringing Mark Ronson, Troye Sivan and Charli Xcx with him. Grande marks his third major signing since then, including Normani and Demi Lovato, also a former Braun client.
Grande has had six albums in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200. Her last release, Positions, debuted atop the chart in 2020 and spent two weeks at No. 1. On the Hot 100 singles chart, she has had 20 top 10s, seven of which hit No. 1.

Ryan Gosling sometimes regrets coining the phrase “Kenergy.” Speaking on Saturday at Variety‘s Hitmakers event, however, he embraced the idea of “Kenergy” — a term he said he made up while on a press junket for the hit film “Barbie” — to describe musician, songwriter and producer Mark Ronson.
Gosling was at Hitmakers, presented by Sony Audio, to award Ronson, the executive producer behind the “Barbie” soundtrack and a co-producer and co-writer on some of its standout tracks, this year’s honors for Soundtrack of the Year. In doing so, Gosling championed Ronson for being the prime example of “Kenergy” in the real world.
“What is ‘Kenergy,’ other than a word I made up on a press junket so I didn’t have to really answer any questions, that’s haunted me ever since?” Gosling said while chuckling on stage. “Well, it’s a noun, that I’ve come to understand...
