The ninth season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” promises a major shake-up to the classic formula when it premieres on Friday, May 17, 2024 on Paramount Plus. For the first time ever, the eight returning contestants will be competing not for their own prize money, but for a $200,000 donation to the charity of their choice. Also of note, these Season 9 queens will never be at risk of elimination, which follows the structure previously seen on Season 7 (the all-winners cycle).

In their recap of the finale, Bianca pointed out that Ts appearing on the recap series is the first time they’ve ever had a permanent Drag Race judge stop by to give their up close and unbiased opinion. Ts said that the biggest perk of the job as a judge is getting to see the queens do what they do, but she wishes she could sit at the dais for an entire season to really get to see the full growth of everyone competing. In their recap of the episode, Symone was “ready to talk smack,” even about her season 13 sisters Kandy Muse and Lala Ri. Symone said that Jimbo was a frontrunner “out the gate” from the moment she walked into the Werk Room in a nude body suit and flip flops. After 15 seasons of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and 13 international spinoffs, the franchise has launched the careers of over 400 fierce drag queens. As those performers grow their careers, a select lucky few are granted the opportunity to return to the competition to compete on the Paramount+ sister series: “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars.”
So far the world has seen eight seasons of “All Stars,” with winners that include Alaska, Trixie Mattel, Shea Couleé, and Kylie Sonique Love. Given the wild success of the franchise, it’s safe to assume that plenty more fan favorites will be making return trips to the mainstage for more “All Stars” seasons. With only a few spots available for each iteration, here are 10 queens who simply must be invited back to the show for their chance at a spot in the Drag Race Hall of Fame.

“RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” season 8 continued on June 23 with the eighth episode streaming on Paramount+. For the first time ever, RuPaul Charles announced a “second way to win” in addition to earning the coveted crown and $200,000 prize given to the traditional winner. One of the eliminated queens will also be named Queen of the Fame Games and earn a $50,000 cash prize.
The queens still in the running at the start of episode 8 were: Alexis Michelle, Jessica Wild, Jimbo, Kandy Muse, and Lala Ri.
Check out our full recap of episode 8 below to find out what happened when the queens took inspiration from the style of former winners in “You’re a Winner Baby!”:
It was a hard decision for Lala Ri to send her friend Kahanna Montrese home last week, but that it came on the heels of her first ever challenge win on “Drag Race” helped pad the hurt.

In their recap of the episode, Deja tells Bianca that she thinks Kahanna Montrese has been “killing it” on the runway and that Jessica Wild is the one keeping her entertained. Still, Bianca found time to point out how big of a fan Deja is of Bianca and then continued to make Deja fall out of her chair laughing throughout the episode. No time to catch your breath after last week's RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 finale. Sasha Colby's crown is still settling upon her head, but it's already time to talk about the cast for the 8th season of Drag Race All Stars. All Stars will premiere on Paramount+ on Friday, May 12, and today, the show revealed the 12 queens who will compete for the crown. As has been the trend in recent seasons — save for last summer's all-winners edition — Drag Race All Stars will resurrect a mix of queens who came close to the finale and queens who sashayed away early in their original seasons. The Season 6 champion, Kylie Sonique Love, finished in 9th place on her original season but came into her own on her All-Stars run. Season 8 will also be the first U.S. season to include a cast member from Canada's Drag Race.

RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars has had its fair share of queens try to snatch the crown and the title of "America's Next Drag Superstar." RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars is the battle of seasoned queens for that coveted spot in the Drag Race Hall of Fame.
When RuPaul's Drag Race queens return, they look for different things.
Some want the prize money, some like the notoriety of winning, and others want a chance at redemption. Their legacy can make or break on their return to the main stage.
Over 62 queens have returned to All Stars, but there's still a vast list of queens yet to be invited.
Between the mainline series and the many international editions, plenty of queens could get the call to compete for another shot at the crown. And we're not just talking about the "Vs. The World" competitions either.

Season 15 of RuPaul’s Drag Race featured the largest cast of queens in the show’s history, as 16 queens came together to compete for the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar and a massive grand prize of 200,000. But despite it being a larger-than-life season, much of Season 15‘s first half contained episodes that were compressed into one hour (with commercials), as opposed to the 90-minute episodes that have been the standard since Season 10. Now, after an outcry from fans, 90-minute Drag Race episodes are back.

In the six seasons of “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” so far, we’ve seen dozens of queens return to the main stage to claim the crown they previously couldn’t, resulting in seven freshly combed wigs now bearing the weight of their sparkling tiara. (See the winner’s list.) But earning a spot in the Drag Race Hall of Fame isn’t the only reason why a queen might return. Some came back from early seasons to remind the audience of their talent and others jumped right back into it in the hopes of earning redemption from the sins of their first season. Now, as we look forward to the casting for Season 7 of the VH1/Paramount+ spin-off, we speculate at the reasons why these queens from each of the show’s 13 seasons might walk into the Werk Room one more time, all of which have not yet made it back.

We have our winner!
A queen was inducted into the Drag Race Hall of Fame on RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 6 Episode 12. It was a hard-fought battle between several strong queens, and a game that saw the Final 4 each get the redemption they were looking for.
Any of the Final 4 would've been deserving of the win. The final choice was a great win for both the competition and the series as a whole.
Kylie Sonique Love had a great redemption storyline heading into "This is Our Country."
She came from an early exit during RuPaul's Drag Race Season 2 (11 years ago!) to become one of the frontrunners in this competition. Not many of the older Drag Race season queens adapt to the new style of the game and the work that goes into winning the crown. So, for her to thrive, it proved how strong of a competitor she was.

And then there were four. Again. Thursday’s penultimate episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 6 began by welcoming one queen back to the competition, then ended by crushing another queen’s dream entirely.

We're so close to the end, Drag Race fans. Just one more round stands in the way of finding out who will join the Drag Race Hall of Fame.
The Final 5 put up a strong fight during RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 6 Episode 11, and while it was a dull round, the queens made one of the biggest moves in the competition. This gameplay might've changed everything, even if they didn't realize it then.
It's anyone's race after this lipstick vote.

Silky got too messy with the outfit when it stuck to her leg. Plus, Eureka's lip-sync delivered stronger energy right out of the gate.
It's a shame Silky got the chop after winning six lip-syncs in a row,...

“RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” Season 6 took a break from the competition this week in order to finally explain the “game within a game” twist that RuPaul Charles has been teasing all summer long. In short, every eliminated queen was given the chance to compete in a “Rudemption Lip-Sync Smackdown,” with the winner of each pairing advancing to the following week. Defying the odds, Silky Nutmeg Ganache was able to win six lip syncs, bringing her to the final challenge against recent eliminee Eureka. In true “Drag Race” fashion, viewers didn’t get to see who won that final lip sync and returned to the competition. Which queen do You think it was? All was revealed to Rajah O’Hara, Ginger Minj, Trinity K. Bonet and Kylie Sonique Love back stage as they watched it play out like binge watching a wrestling tournament, dreading the fact that they are no longer the official top four.
