"The Biggest Loser" winner Michael Ventrella began the season as the heaviest-ever contestant at 526 pounds, and lost a record-breaking 264 pounds to capture the $250,000 prize. His final weight was 262 pounds, which means he lost 50.19% of his body weight. "Being at 526, you have no hope for a future. I knew that I was going to give it my all. I knew I would be relentless at my efforts, but I have surpassed my wildest dreams," he says. When Michael's time at the ranch came to an end, he still weighed in the 300s and was discouraged because, despite his great success, he was leaving the ranch at a weight that other people start at. But he didn't let it get him down. "I thought the biggest challenge when I went home would be fitting in my workout regimen," he says. "It wasn't that. The biggest challenge was having everybody understand what I am going through.

For his determination to be fit and healthier, Michael Ventrella has been declared the winner of "The Biggest Loser" season 9. The 30-year-old DJ from Chicago, Illinois was literally the biggest and heaviest man in the camp but he managed to downsize his weight from 526 pounds to 262 pounds. That would be a drop of 50.19% of his body weight.
As the champion, Ventrella is awarded $250,000 prize. "I am feeling proud of myself-which is a new feeling," he said upon winning. "This time I gave it my all. I did it the right way and it worked." He started the competition accompanied by his mother Maria who was eliminated in week 3.
Coming in second place was Ashley Johnston who lost 48.93% of her Body Mass Index (Bmi), narrowly followed by Daris George who lost 48.55%. Koli Palu who was also in the final was eliminated early but he received $100,000 for winning the At-Home prize. He...

Who win 'The Biggest Loser?' I've said it before and I'll say it again, producers can make a reality show out of just about anything, am I right? We've seen shows about designing cakes, cutting hair and of course "The Biggest Loser" had contestants attempting to lose as much weight as possible. It's really not a bad concept, particularly since the contestants have something incredible to gain (or more like lose in this situation).
In any case, tonight marked the season finale for the 2010 season of NBC's "The Biggest Loser" and needless to say, I wish I could win $250,000 for shedding pounds. Of course, you guys don't care about my losing weight, right? What you guys are dying to know is who lost the most weight on tonight's finale. So, without further ado, the winner of tonight's episode of "The Biggest Loser" was...drum roll please...Michael Ventrella...

The winner of NBC's "The Biggest Loser: Couples" was decided on Tuesday night. Michael Ventrella, who, at a starting weight of 526 pounds was the heaviest "Biggest Loser" contestant ever, took home the $250,000 prize after he lost 264 pounds -- over 50% of his starting body weight! Michael, who was the first contestant ever to lose 200 pounds during his time on campus, brought a flower for his "No. 1 motivation and inspiration," his mom Maria, who also competed this season. Earlier in the evening, the fans had to choose between Daris George and Koli Palu to determine which would make it into the top three. The fans chose Daris, but Koli triumphed in another contest -- he won the $100,000 at-home prize. Of the final three, Daris took third place with a total weight loss of 168 pounds (48.55% of his starting weight), while Ashley Johnston came in second with a total weight loss of 183 pounds (48.93% of...

But who should get the third spot? It’s your choice, America —I simply can’t decide who deserves it more, Daris or Koli!
I’ve been a die-hard fan of The Biggest Loser since the show first premiered in 2004, but this is the first time my favorite two contestants have ever made it to the finals and I’m ecstatic! The only problem? When it comes to the third and final spot — which America chooses, incidentally — I can’t decide who I’m voting for! I’m totally torn between Koli and Daris!
Ashley Johnston, a 27-year-old spa manager, and 30-year-old DJ Michael Ventrella were the biggest boy and girl in NBC’s Biggest Loser history. They’ve worked their butts off to drop an obscene amount of weight (Ashley lost 161 pounds; Mike lost a whopping 227 pounds), so it’s fab they’ve made it to the finals.

Koli Palu and Daris George will battle it out for a place in next week's Biggest Loser finale. The pair fell below the yellow line in tonight's penultimate episode, and were given the chance to plead to America about why they should be given the opportunity to play for the grand prize of $$250,000 and the title of 'The Biggest Loser'. Ashley Johnston and Michael Ventrella were each guaranteed a spot in the finale following the weigh-in, which took place after the four finalists had spent a month at home. Tuesday night, "The Biggest Loser" announced the final four: Ashley Johnston, Daris George, Koli Palu and Michael Ventrella, which meant that 24-year-old SunShine Hampton lost her spot on the ranch when she fell below the red line and was immediately sent packing. "It is a bummer not to make the final four," she tells Et, "but that whole week was a big week of reflection for me, seeing that I can do it at home. I can go for the at-home prize, but I have already won the big prize. I would take my health over $100,000 or $250,000 any day. I went with peace. I knew that I was going to be fine." SunShine, who with her father O'Neal Hampton has had a tricky journey on this season's "The Biggest Loser" -- she and her dad were kicked off the ranch the first day and were only able to earn their...
