- She grew up in Indiana and is an avid sports fan and participant. If she is not in the forecasting office, she can be found running in Central Park, playing tennis, biking, skiing and just enjoying the tri-state's four seasons.
- After graduating from Ball State University with a B.A. in Telecommunications and a minor in Spanish, she received a certification in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University.
- Along the way, she lived in Norway for a year and a half, studying the language and culture of the country. She is well-versed on the language and several types of salted fish.
- She came to WABC-TV from Houston, Texas where she was the 4P.M. weather anchor with ABC at KTRK-TV. While in Houston, she won best weathercast in the state of Texas from the Assoiated Press. She also ran the Houston Marathon while giving the weather forecast. Prior to Houston, she spent two years at WTEN-TV in Albany, New York and one year at KULR-TV in Billings, Montana.
- Joined WABC-TV in New York City as a meteorologist in November 2005.
- Heidi was suspended indefinitely in 2010 from her position as meteorologist on ABC News. She allegedly fabricated two separate incidents where she claimed to be attacked and sexually assaulted. She later admitted to the NYPD that she fabricated the stories for attention. Charges are pending.
