The final season of Arrow is doing a good job of setting up the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event, but isn’t remiss in giving Oliver Queen his ultimate swansong as the hero that started it all.
The green-hooded vigilante of Star City has been going through quite an emotional ordeal over the last couple of episodes. In a quest to save the world and assist the Monitor in preparing the multiverse for the upcoming crisis, Oliver and his team have also been collecting fragments of the truth about the cosmic being who goes by the name of Mar Novu.
In doing so, the Green Arrow has yet to face betrayal from a familiar character, and now, the official synopsis for the last midseason finale of Arrow, titled “Purgatory,” teases the return of Team Arrow to Lian Yu.

Spoiler Alert: This article contains details of tonight’s Season 7 finale of Arrow.
Game of Thrones isn’t the only series counting down to its big finish with a nasty war between Queens, plenty of long-lost sibling drama an uncommon level of commitment to both archery and earth tones. That’s right, there’s also Arrow, the bullseye center of the CW’s shared superhero mythology which has spread across space and time in more ways than one. Arrow and its sister shows — The Flash, Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and the long-gone Constantine — have collectively aired 461 episodes to date and effectively expanded the Arrowverse canon with every single installment. More is one the way, too, with Batwoman premiering in the fall. Taken all together, it’s a somewhat staggering achievement and one that no one foresaw when Arrow notched its first episode in October 2012.

To say that a lot has transpired during Arrow‘s seventh season is quite the understatement. After kicking things off with Oliver Queen in prison, Star City was graced with a new Emerald Archer whom we assumed to be a hero. But as it turned out, the vigilante was actually Emiko, Ollie’s estranged sister, and leader of the terrorist organization known as the Ninth Circle. And since the true Green Arrow was released from the clink, he’s had to accept the fact that his own flesh and blood is the new big bad in town.
Given all that, I’m expecting for next week’s season finale to be both action-packed and emotionally draining. Fortunately, the network has thoroughly whetted our appetites with no less than eighteen images taken from the climactic episode, each of which can be found in the gallery below.

In less than two weeks, Arrow‘s seventh season will have concluded and we’ll be forced to endure several months without new adventures featuring Stephen Amell as the Emerald Archer. On the plus side, the next couple of episodes should prove to be quite explosive, as past years have taught us around this time.
Obviously, the finale will feature the final showdown between Oliver and Emiko, who’ve been engaging in the most dangerous of sibling rivalries. And while the cryptic synopsis guarantees just that, it does offer something else quite intriguing:
Family Ties — The battle between Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Emiko (Sea Shimooka) comes to a boiling point which brings back some familiar faces and leaves others in dire jeopardy. James Bamford directed the episode written by Beth Schwartz & Rebecca Bellotto (#722). Original airdate 5/13/2019.

Thrilling as the current season of Arrow has proven to be, fans who grew accustomed to seeing Oliver Queen flanked by other costumed heroes on the streets of Star City have probably felt like something important’s been missing. In fact, I have to admit that I’d like to see such a thing again after being spoiled in the years prior.
From the look of it, we’ll slowly but surely get there again. Don’t forget, Dinah Drake is putting her Black Canary mask back on for the upcoming Birds of Prey-inspired “Lost Canary,” and John Diggle, meanwhile, will apparently do likewise not long after.
Thanks to executive producer and showrunner Beth Schwartz, we’re able to admire the cover to episode 5×19’s teleplay. As you can see in the image found below, it reveals the title to be “Spartan,” which is certainly good news for fans of that persona.

It really wasn’t that long ago when we were all speculating the identity of the new Emerald Archer in Star City. Fortunately, she was unmasked before Arrow took its winter hiatus. Then, when the show returned with its midseason premiere, we learned that her name is, in fact, Emiko Queen.
Since the big reveal, Oliver has done all he can to get to know his estranged sister. Still, it’s been a struggle, because she was forever hurt by their father running out on her. But to the delight of Ollie, she’s slowly gaining the ability to let him in.
From the look of it, the aptly titled “Brothers & Sisters” may see some sort of occurrence force the two to accelerate their timetable by working together on a case. If that ends up being true, I wouldn’t want to be the criminal forced to contend with two Green Arrows.

Arrow Season 7 Episode 7
If you were hoping to send Slabside off in style, you couldn’t have asked for a better, more show-stopping episode of Arrow than this.

Flashforwards and life outside of prison were wisely held for the week, instead dedicating the episode to what felt more like a short action movie that was all climax. Oh, and then there was that Olicity reunion.

Despite Oliver Queen’s stay at Slabside laying claim to some memorable moments, I’m more than ready to put this brief era of Arrow behind me. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I yearn for something formulaic, but I want to see him wearing a green costume and kicking butt on the streets of Star City whenever I tune in. This is a superhero show, first and foremost.
If you’re in agreement with me, then it looks like we’ll get our wish next week once “The Slabside Redemption” graces TV screens. Really, if that title weren’t telling enough, the first promo which debuted last night further hinted at Ollie making a break for it.
That said, I shouldn’t be too surprised of how the gallery of images promoting said episode don’t offer much in the way of spoilers, as most look...

For a moment, I thought tonight’s episode of Arrow marked a change in status quo. After all, Felicity Smoak and friends finally succeeded in apprehending Ricardo Diaz and placing him behind bars. Then again, it was only the sixth episode of the season, and we still have one long road ahead of us.
Still, it’s highly recommended that you tune in next week because “The Slabside Redemption” looks to be wall-to-wall action. Our primary piece of evidence comes by way of the first promo video, which you can view at the top of this article. And in it, we see “The Dragon” taking control of Slabside and turning everyone inside loose on Oliver Queen.
To be honest, this is probably when Ollie will escape because all signs point toward him doing so and, don’t forget, he does have that big “Elseworlds” crossover to participate in in three weeks from now.

This fall, it seems like The CW really has prison break fever. I mean, not only did Archie Andrews escape from a juvenile detention center during last night’s stellar episode of Riverdale, but it also appears as though Arrow‘s Oliver Queen will say “peace out” and liberate himself from Supermax lockup in less than two weeks from now.
The reason I’m saying this is because the previously teased “The Slabside Redemption” is creeping up on us rather quickly, and you probably don’t need me to tell you how revealing that episode title is. And if that weren’t enough, this freshly released synopsis will do nothing but increase anticipation levels:
James Bamford Directs An Epic Episode — Oliver (Stephen Amell) makes a choice that will affect his entire life, as well as the lives of everyone he cares about. James Bamford directed the episode written by Jill Blankenship...

To say that Dinah Drake and Earth-2’s Laurel Lance have a complicated history is putting it mildly. If you’ll recall, the latter killed the former’s boyfriend, Vigilante, last season on Arrow, thus fanning the flames for one of Star City’s most heated rivalries – and it’s not like those two got along to begin with.
Now, one would assume they’ve had some time to cool off, especially after seeing Dinah grant Laurel mercy during the latter portion of season 6. One can only hope this means Ms. Lance will continue life on the straight and narrow, but she tends to have a hard time controlling her temper.
As it turns out, the two will cross paths again next week in “The Longbow Hunters,” and based on what the images found in the gallery below tell us, they may very well team up. The downside, however, is...

Barring the previous year, I can’t remember The CW holding its cards so close to the vest heading into a new season of Arrow. I mean, we do know some stuff about what’ll soon go down such as Oliver being in prison, but the status quo for the foreseeable future remains shrouded in mystery.
Fortunately, though, the synopsis for season 7’s second episode has painted the clearest picture yet. So, before we proceed any further, let’s take a look at what to expect from “The Longbow Hunters”:
Felicity Is Determined To Find Diaz At Any Cost — In order to track down Diaz (Kirk Acevedo) from inside prison, Oliver (Stephen Amell) realizes that will require aligning with an old enemy. Meanwhile, in Star City, Felicity’s (Emily Bett Rickards) attempts to root out Diaz are thwarted by Diggle (David Ramsey), whose allegiance to Argus now requires him...

To me, one of the most intriguing aspects of Arrow‘s current season has been that of the Black Siren situation. So far, she’s proven to be one of the most ambiguous and duplicitous people to have ventured to Star City in quite some time, siding with the other criminals to terrorize the town all the while Quentin Lance tries to bring her back from the abyss.
But most unfortunate for the new mayor is that his not-daughter is spending a lot of time with crime lord Ricardo Diaz, some information that he’ll become privy to before long. In fact, the accompanying gallery shows Lance is about to learn the truth in next week’s episode, “Shifting Allegiances.”
Now, as you peruse these images, we ask that you that you slow down once you arrive at the ones to include Quentin and Laurel. Really, it plays out like a bizarrely hilarious flip book,...

But before the heroes of Star City can fully turn their attention toward Diaz, it looks like they’ll have to sort out their own affairs first. If you’ve been keeping up with the series, you don’t need us to tell you how Team Arrow has been fractured down the center, with the old guard and the newbies going about their separate ways.

To be honest, this practice is commonplace, but I can’t help but think of how many times the more recent examples have fueled speculation or flat-out spoiled what’s to come.
If you’ll recall, the first photos promoting “Collision Course” dropped about a week ago, right before its preceding episode, “The Devil’s Greatest Trick,” had even aired. In those, we saw the original Team Arrow seemingly hiding out in a cabin for some undefined reason, prompting me to think that a second batch of images would soon follow.

Even though Manu Bennett had considerable screentime in Arrow‘s season premiere a few weeks back, we’re still waiting to see the forward progression of his character’s particular story. That being said, it’s understandable why we’re greatly looking forward to seeing much more of Slade Wilson in the appropriately titled “Deathstroke Returns.”
As it turns out, the search for Slade’s son, Joe, will spill over into the next week in “Promises Kept.” Obviously, the writers are continuing to get some mileage out of one of the mercenary’s more notable catchphrases, because if a talking action figure of this iteration of Deathstroke were to exist, we imagine at least one of the things he’d say would be, “I made you a promise, kid.”

Now that Prometheus’ true identity of Adrian Chase has been revealed to viewers – and very shortly to Oliver Queen and the rest of the major players – we’ve arrived at the stretch of the season when things are about to get real on Arrow in very short order.
Evidencing that notion is the recently released synopsis for “Disbanded,” the eighteenth episode of the current season, the name of which understandably causes us to worry for the future of Team Arrow. Sure, titles can often misdirect or have dual meaning, but knowing that Prometheus’ deadly game will cause Oliver to be desperate enough to seek out the Bratva’s help will no doubt cause those closest to him to question his ethical decisions. It certainly didn’t help when Artemis bounced earlier this year due to similar reasons.
