In the late 90s/early 2000′s there was a distinct new trend in the horror genre: that of “urban horror”. A genre that brought urban black cinema, and all-black casts, together with the horror genre in much the same way as it did in the 70s during the blaxploitation era. Whilst films like Bones and Vampire in Brooklyn (despite being something of a critical failure) had iconic stars such as Snoop Dogg and Eddie Murphy respectively, it was smaller movies such as Rusty Cundieff’s Tales From the Hood that had all the ideas (if you haven’t seen Tales… you should really track it down).
Not one to miss a trick when it comes to cashing in on popular crazes, Full Moon head honcho Charles Band...

*full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by Full Moon Features. Director/writer: John Lechago. Cast: Trent Haaga, Victoria De Mare, Al Burke, Tai Chan Ngo, John Karyus, Aqueela Zoll, Jason R. Moore, Cecil Burroughs, Randy Mermell, Stephen F. Cardwell, Lisa Goodman, Ian Roberts, and Jessica Whitaker. Killjoy the killer clown returns for a third sequel in Killjoy Goes to Hell. Actor Trent Haaga returns as Killjoy and John Lechago pulls double duty as writer and director. Killjoy Goes to Hell blends campiness with sex appeal and a little bit of violence to create a visually stunning film. Very funny, this latest edition to the series is a truly enjoyable time. This title directly follows the events of the previous film, Killjoy 3. In the previous film, four college students were harassed by an insane demon. Unfortunately for Killjoy, one of his non-studious victims, Sandie (Jessica Whitaker), survived.

D: John Lechago
C: Trent Haaga, Victoria De Mare, Al Burke, Michael Rupnow, Jessica Whitaker, Olivia Dawn York
The demonic clown, Killjoy, who takes murderous revenge on whomever his summoner wishes uses a group of college students as bait to lure in a college professor who summoned him, but didn't name an actual victim for him to kill.
Watching a film like Killjoy 3 viewers should admittedly know that they are not getting into a film on par with something like The Exorcist. It's just supposed to be a fun way to kill eighty minutes, to have some laughs and to enjoy a few cheap thrills. With that in mind, Killjoy 3 is easily the most successful entry in this franchise. With this, Puppet Master: Axis of Evil and Demonic Toys 2, which were all released this year, Full Moon Entertainment is on a definite comeback trail.

You may recall a few months ago we told you about Final Girl Films' competition for indie horror filmmakers looking to make their next short film project. The contest was based on scripts only, and the first runner-up was Bryan Ryan for "The Guest". Dread Central recently had a chance to chat with Bryan about how he first got involved in filmmaking, what's up with "The Guest", and his future plans.
Dread Central: What made you decide to get into filmmaking?
Bryan Ryan: I can trace the whole thing back to two films: Disney's Pinocchio and Jaws. The first for the way it petrified me as a child. I know that I will never forget the effect Pinocchio had on me. Now, the same goes for Jaws, but it goes a step further because of the sheer ingenuity it took to tell That story in That way. And to...
