Jonathan Zaurin’s debut feature examines the destructive force of vengeance. Take a look at the first trailer for Derelict.
Here at Film Stories, we’re very passionate about supporting and highlighting exciting new voices in British cinema.
Derelict, the feature film debut of director Jonathan Zaurin, looks about as exciting as they come. Shot partly in striking black and white, the thriller looks excellent.
Take a look at the first trailer for Derelict below.
We detect hints of Ben Wheatley and Shane Meadows in the trailer. While we haven’t seen the finished film yet, we’re excited to see how Zaurin uses those black and white sequences in relation to those in colour. Another small-time British indie director used a similar technique last year in a film about a big bomb.
Derelict is currently in post-production and will begin its film festival journey in 2024. No news on distribution or a release date yet,...

‘We are over the moon to have Stacy join the cast. She a fantastic, versatile actress who will absolutely smash the role. We had the good fortune to see her work at Horror On Sea in January and met her there. We soon got chatting all things Reel Horror and knew she would be a fantastic asset to the team.‘
Reel Horror had this to say about Peter Tilley joining the project:
‘After watching Peters incredible performance in HorrorScopes at the Horror On Sea Film Festival, we knew he would be a fantastic fit for our film.

When a humanoid sea creature washes up in Terry’s bleak life they quickly develop feelings for each other – But can Man love Fish, and will Terry’s older criminal brother get his hands on the creature before Terry can decide how he feels?
Ever wondered what it would look like if Troma shot a British movie at Canvey Island? Wonder no more as Manfish would definitely be the result… and I mean that in the most complimentary way. You see Manfish embodies the spirit of the low-budget, independent, more ideas than money, style of filmmaking that Troma is synonymous with. Though ion this was made by Americans I doubt the finished product would be quite as sweet-natured as Marc Coleman’s film; because Manfish is Incredibly sweet-natured.

They say that movies are influenced by the events that take place when they were made. Fixed is a movie that isolates a character and shows him how his actions influence those around him in the outside world. Something that we all can relate to based on the last few years.
When Daz Clemance (Nicholas Clarke) apparently fixes an illegal bare-knuckle fight, he is beaten up and stabbed. Locked in a cupboard in the factory where the event took place he finds himself in a race against time to escape not only with his life, but to also prove to people he can be a better person.
I tend to like films that create a claustrophobic feel to them and limits the number of locations that it uses. This creates a...
