- Alan is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity, and attended Indiana University in Bloomington with Tavis Smiley.
- In 1989 and 1990, Alan used to perform stand-up comedy in Chicago with his good friend Nasser Metcalfe and the late Bernie Mac.
- Alan is the author of five (5) dating advice audiobooks for men and six (6) dating advice paperbacks for men, and is an internationally known dating coach for single heterosexual men; His "Mode One Approach" philosophy was inspired by the films Talk Dirty to Me (1980) and Talk Dirty to Me: Part 2 (1982), and his desire to become a professional dating coach was inspired by the film Hitch (2005).
- Alan has known Buddy Lewis since elementary school; Both grew up in Gary, Indiana.
- Alan once taught a college level course in 2009 titled "Dating for 21st Century Singles" at Indiana University-Northwest in his hometown of Gary, Indiana.
- Two of Alan's biggest regrets was 1) not being able to interview John Leslie on his podcast show, Upfront & Straightforward with Alan Roger Currie (2007) (Leslie was someone Alan idolized as a teenager and young adult) and 2) respectfully declining an invitation extended to him by Alfonso Ribeiro in 1995 to play golf one Saturday with box-office superstar Will Smith.
- Alan graduated from Wirt High School in 1981 in Gary, Indiana and was a classmate of talented musician Crystal Taliefero.
- Alan and his older brother Stephen Clarence Currie have been huge fans of Warren Beatty since middle school, and Alan finally gained an opportunity to meet Mr. Beatty in-person at a Producers Guild of America event in 2016.
- In 1999, Alan once engaged in friendly sports video game competition with Morris Chestnut at Chestnut's home in suburban Los Angeles; Both Currie and Chestnut attended a national John Madden NFL Football video game tournament in July 2002.
- In 1994, Alan once auditioned for a small role in Tony Scott's film, Crimson Tide (1995), but failed to get the part. Alan also auditioned for the role of "Malcolm Winters," but the role ultimately went to Actor Shemar Moore; In 1995, Alan used to work at NBC Studios in Burbank, California as part of the highly esteemed NBC Page Program along with his close friends Wendy English and Lee House.
- Alan graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana with a B.A. in Economics and a minor in Psychology and Theatre & Drama; Alan completed one year of the Kelley School of Business MBA Program during the 1993-94 academic year, but he never completed the second year of the program after moving to Los Angeles on Memorial Day weekend of 1994. Alan's father, Dr. Clarence Currie, was one of the first two African-American graduates of the Indiana University (Bloomington) Optometry Program.
