- She earned a doctorate in Adult Education from National Louis University in 2013. Her dissertation is titled, John H. Johnson: A Historical Study on the Re-Education of African Americans in Adult Education Through the Selfethnic Liberatory Nature of Magazines.
- While still Features Editor for Jet magazine, Christian, at the request of Perry, penned his 2008 Ebony magazine cover story. Later that year she appeared on The Biography Channel's documentary about him.
- Tyler Perry's first-ever cover story for a national magazine was written by Christian. Perry appeared on the December 1, 2003 issue of Jet magazine that was titled, Tyler Perry: Meet the Man Behind the Urban Theater Character Madea.
- Christian is the only editor in the history of Johnson Publishing Company to have written for Ebony, Jet, Ebony Man, Ebony South Africa, Ebony Fashion Fair and Ebony.com.
- On May 30, 2014, her position as Senior Editor was eliminated, denoting Dr. Christian as the last editor to work with pioneering publisher John H. Johnson who remained at the company he founded.
- Dr. Christian is the author of Empire: The House That John H. Johnson Built (2018).
- She is writing an authorized biography titled It's No Wonder: The Life and Music of Motown's Sylvia Moy (Hachette 2025), which is about the label's first female in-house songwriter and producer who was instrumental in helping to save and revive a teen Stevie Wonder's early career. Moy wrote hit tunes for Wonder, including Uptight (Everything's Alright), I Was Made to Love Her, and My Cherie Amour.
