Exclusive: The fourth and final season of Kit Williamson’s Emmy-nominated Lgbtq series Eastsiders will be available on Netflix on December 1.
Thanks to a Kickstarter campaign that raised over $140,000 from fans, Eastsiders, a co-production with Wolfe Video, will be back with a fourth season that picks up with the Silver Lake gang one year later. Executive produced by Williamson and his husband John Halbach, who also star, the six-episode Season 4 tackles heavy, adult-world questions like how do two human beings make love last? What does commitment really look like in a long-term relationship? And what unique challenges does a “gay marriage” present?
Cal (Williamson) and Thom (Van Hansis) are back home from Season 3’s cross-country road trip, still a couple but wondering if they are really just best friends with benefits. Douglas (Willam Belli) and Quincy (Stephen Guarino) are engaged to be married, but with very different ideas about what a gay wedding should be.

Some singers turned film actors hit a high note by playing a version of themselves, such as Whitney Houston in “The Bodyguard,” bolstered by a safety-net soundtrack of surefire hits. Then there is Cher, who dropped the glam act and proved herself worthy of the silver screen in 1983’s “Silkwood,” 1985’s “Mask“ and especially 1987’s “Moonstruck,” the source of her Best Actress Oscar. As for Madonna, she started out with a bang riffing off her taboo-eschewing personas in 1985’s “Desperately Seeking Susan.” But save for her sexpot ball player in 1992’s “A League of Her Own” and her dedicated effort to nail the musical intricacies of 1996’s “Evita,” for which she won a Golden Globe, the Material Girl was not all that adept at picking her own big-screen material.

After 16 long weeks of backflips, pliés and high kicks, So You Think You Can Dance reached the end of its 14th season on Monday night, at last bestowing the title of America’s Favorite Dancer upon one of the four finalists.
But before we could find out whether Koine, Taylor, Lex or Kiki was the Season 14 champ, Sytycd stayed true to its finale form, offering up a two-hour stroll down memory lane before unleashing a confetti shower upon the eventual winner.
In the meantime, here’s how those 120 minutes were filled:

And just like that — insert dramatic finger-snap here — we’ve reached the home stretch of So You Think You Can Dance‘s 14th season.
It might feel like we were just watching Kaylee Millis slay her New York City audition, or cringing as Kiki Nyemchek fumbled his way through a hip-hop routine at The Academy. But in reality, we’re thisclose to learning who will become the Season 14 victor. (Time flies when Jason Derulo isn’t on the judging panel, eh?)

From the moment we saw him during the So You Think You Can Dance auditions we felt certain Miami contemporary dancer Ricky Ubeda (he of the goofy grin, scruffy chin, and impossible extensions) would likely wind up going far in the competition. To us he feels like the perfect combination of all stars Mark Kanemura (angular, quirky) and Neil Haskell (long-legged, athletic).
Last week Ricky amazed with a Sonya Tayeh number while temporarily paired up with another strong contemporary dancer, Jessica Richens.
This week the top 20 dancers were assigned permanent partners and Ricky drew adorable tapper Valerie Rockey. Their first assignment together, a Travis Wall routine….
There are certainly other strong dancers on Sytycd this year, but we’re having trouble seeing any of them beating Ricky out for the title of America’s Favorite Dancer.

The night started with four of the eight remaining dancers in danger on "So You Think You Can Dance." But none of them managed to steal the show once former contestant and choreographer Travis Wall hit the stage with contestant Amy Yakima. Still, the four did everything they could to impress, as this was the judges' last chance to have a voice in who goes home. Starting next week, it's all up to America.
It was up to Hayley Erbert, Fik-shun, Jenna Johnson and Tucker Knox to impress the judges with their solos. Ballroom dancers have always struggled with solo work, which is why Jenna brought out a skirt to partner with in her solo Paso Doble. Later, she danced a trippy jazz routine with Mark Kanemura, that figuratively brought HitFix's Liane Bonin Starr to her feet alongside the judges. "Jenna is, as always, great," she wrote. If last week’s introduction of the Season 10 All-Stars added a little snap, crackle and pop to the So You Think You Can Dance Tuesday-night cereal bowl — come now, let’s all admit flakes and milk are not just for breakfast anymore! — then tonight’s decision to let the show’s alumni choreograph all eight competitive routines was like an additional dollop of blackberries, strawberries and wheat germ.

Two more dancers have left the competition after the Tuesday, Aug. 20 performance show, which featured host Cat Deeley dressed as a fresh-out-of-the-shower mascara zombie from hell and the season 10 finalists paired up with eight of the most beloved So You Think You Can Dance All-Stars. I’ll post my full recap of tonight’s performances later on (update: here it is!); in the meantime, discuss!
Jenna Johnson and Tucker Knox have been eliminated.
Agggghhh. The former partners (pre-All-Star episodes this season) just told Cat Deeley their favorite parts of the competition were meeting each other and becoming best friends!

When Nick Lazzarini signed up for season 1 of So You Think You Can Dance he didn’t even known he’d have to perform ballroom. Everyone was “kind of flying by the seat of our pants” in those days, he laughs. Seven seasons later, Lazzarini’s experience seems a world away from today’s “brutal” four-person cuts and Jack-of-all-trade performers. Of course, a more streamlined system hasn’t diluted the show’s drama. Witness last night’s second four-person elimination of the season. “I’m a little shocked,” Lazzarini admits. Lady Gaga Marries the Night, Loses head on X-factor
Lady Gaga has sold millions of records, 3 Brit Awards, and 5 Grammy Awards under her belt. She’s the most downloaded Artist in history. But did she lose her head for a live X-Factor performance on Fox? To the video!
Gaga sang amidst the strobe lights and under the shadow of a cross. Surrounded by black clad dancers with the full moon overseeing the Gothic procession, Lady Gaga commanded the X-Factor stage. She wore one of her most bizarre outfits to date, too. No, you’re right. Meat dress was stranger. This time around, as you can clearly see when she reveals the total ensemble in the video, Gaga wears a very tall black dress designed to make her appear headless. A fake bloody neck protrudes high, and her actual head looks as if it is being carried in her arm.

Nigel not happy with the finale, drops jaws of all the judges!
Yes, last night was a roller coaster ride with some great highlights and perhaps the lowest low I’ve seen on the show in a long time. What initially put some of us into a finale funk was the disco that started the show. It felt flat, labored, and even though it was danced by two of the most solid performers, Marko and Melanie, they were not able to connect to the style. My heart slightly dropped for both of them.

Oh Katie, how do you book these gigs?
I'm not sure Katie Holmes topped her previous utterly useless appearance on So You Think You Can Dance (The one where she performed a totally out of context pre-taped and lip-synced version of "Get Happy"). But last night on the judges' panel she fell almost equally flat.
I'm sure the woman is very sweet and, as my sister remarked last night, she actually seems to get prettier as she gets older. But what the hell? She just rambled on all night with obsequious and often nonsensical comments like... "I loved it when you jumped up" or "I love your outfits. If everyone could dance the way you can in an outfit, boy, fashion would be even more beautiful."
Not a critical or incisive word to say to anyone - making her endless effusive praise sorta meaningless. Kenny Ortega seemed to fare better as a judge,...

We've come to the end of the road. Season 8 of "So You Think You Can Dance" closes out tomorrow with the crowing of either Marko, Sasha, Tadd or Melanie.
It was pretty much anyone's game -- except for maybe Tadd -- going into the final performance night, but as judge and executive producer Nigel Lythgoe noted at the end of the exhausting two hours, it's probably one for the ladies.
Not that everyone didn't make a valiant go of it. Between the solos, all-star dances and multiple pairings with each other, each member of the final four delivered at least one remarkable performance.
Our favorites? Marko and Melanie's Disco inferno (if only for the reunion of the original duo), Sasha's synchronized mohawk dance with all-star Mark Kanemura, Sasha and Marko's delightfully sexual "single diner flirts with waiter" dance and the girl-vs-girl match-up between Melanie and Sasha.

"So You Think You Can Dance" has shrunk the number of contestants to four as there is only a week left before the winner of season 8 is crowned. On Thursday, August 4, it was revealed that Melanie, Sasha, Marko and Tadd are going to compete on the finale. Meanwhile, Ricky and Caitlynn have to bury their hope to take home the top prize when they were eliminated that night.
In between the result announcements, "American Idol" alum Pia Toscano took the stage to perform her new single "This Time". Bad Boys of Dance and Rock the Ballet additionally catered the audience with a dance number.
Next week, the four finalists will be competing for the champion title. They will be joined by returning contestants Mark Kanemura, Robert Roldan, Lauren Froderman (season 7 winner), and Joshua Allen (season 4 winner).

This has been a really surprising and refreshing season. Too bad I’m talking about the guest judges rather than the dancers. Last night, Christina Applegate offered up a nice mix of compliments, criticism, and technical know-how. As it were, her diligent research and thoughtful comments were pretty lost on a boring, unremarkable night. Other than Melanie’s solo and Sasha’s contemporary with Kent, the stand-outs were few and few between. Was this the lamest Top 6 ever? Or were you pleased with how the dancers performed? Do you think last night’s snoozefest will be redeemed tonight with some unexpected D4YL performances?...

It was awfully nice of Lady Gaga to share the spotlight, even if it wasn't intentional with former 'So You Think You Can Dance' (Thu., 8Pm Et on Fox) contestant Mark Kanemura. Kanemura has been very busy since his Top 6 finish in Season 4, but he can currently be found dancing on Gaga's 'Monster Ball' tour.
Gaga wasn't on the judging panel tonight, so she could perform a medley of 'The Edge of Glory' and 'You and I.'
While she sounded a little nasal at first (reminiscent of her first critiques on Wednesday's show when her sunglasses were pinching her nose), the sound improved as she went along and it wound up being a very entertaining performance.

The first time I’d ever heard of Lady Gaga was three years ago, during the Top 6 results show of So You Think You Can Dance’s fourth season. Re-watching it now, I’m struck by a few things immediately: TV sunglasses! Pointy shoulder pads! Crotch gestures! Light-up scepters! Strong vocals!

Tonight is the season eight premiere of So You Think You Can Dance. And if you believe the commercials, the talent is better than ever before. Given the quality of dancers last season and the prior years, we do find that a little hard to believe. But knowing what a great vehicle the show is to expose these otherwise unknowns to millions of fans, it only makes sense that the b-boys, tappers, krumpers and ballerinas are crawling out of the woodwork to get on the show. So while we wait to see how this year's dancers measure up, here's a list of our favorite Sytycd routines to date.

As expected, Laday Gaga kept it weird on the 'American Idol' (Wed., 8Pm Et on Fox) season finale. She performed her new single, 'The Edge of Glory,' from atop a makeshift cliff, starting off with a bizarre headpiece that made her head look like it was the same shape as Stewie's from 'Family Guy.'
She stayed up there throughout the entire performance, though she still managed to strike some very shocking poses for a family show. Halfway through the performance, one of her dancers made his way up there with her, and it was none other than former 'So You Think You Can Dance' contestant Mark Kanemura.

Baby lock them doors and turn the lights down low, because tonight the tenth insane season of "American Idol" is coming to a close.
It’s a cycle that brought us singing cleaning ladies, a scatting jazz freak, a galloping Nashville indie heartthrob, a growling sex kitten piñata, a pyromaniac rocker, a gospel lovin' spa concierge straight out of Compton, and, ultimately, two country fetus finalists who were born after Dr. Dre's "The Chronic" hit stores. With Simon Cowell on to bigger (and better?) projects, all eyes were on two new judges, more concerned with promoting their new singles than giving honest critiques.

Could either Lauren Froderman or Robert Roldan stop So You Think You Can Dance from being a coronation for Kent Boyd? They certainly tried - now it's in America's hands.
America has a tough decision on its hands, too. Kent probably still is the best, but watching the other two rise to his level was marvelous, and this is a popularity contest.
Lauren and Rob had their work but out, but both had strong nights. Let's get right down to the final performances of the season, with a winner crowned to be this evening ...
Kent with Lauren Gottleib (Bollywood): Well, at least Kent's ridiculous faces matched the enthusiasm of the routine in general. Everyone loved it, and for good reason.
Lauren with Twitch Boss (Hip Hop): Nigel called it transfixing. We wouldn't go that far, but Lauren is awesome. She can be so sexy and feminine, yet pull anything off.

Sigh. One week after Alex Wong tore his Achilles tendon and was declared Dfy, not only costing So You Think You Can Dance a fan favorite but rendering that entire week's worth of performances more or less moot, Ashley Galvan was on the shelf with a rib injury.
She did not dance Wednesday and will be in the bottom three.
Unlike Alex, her status is likely to remain questionable through tonight, so if she makes it through but still can't dance, she's out of the show. Who will join her on the block?
Here's our take on last night's Sytycd performances ...
Lauren Froderman with Mark Kanemura (Tahitian): High energy, but the first Tahitian display on the show can be summed up as such: "I have no idea what to say." - Nigel
You gotta love this feedback, too: Mia Michaels says Lauren looked like a duck in heat, and...

Following the surprise elimination of Alexie Agdeppa last week, the remaining four girls and six guys on So You Think You Dance were on notice - nothing can be taken for granted.
This week, the show continued to switch up its format (which makes it a little hard to get into the groove, to be honest), with the top 10 pulling their All-Star partners out of a hat.
With the All-Star choice came the selected style of dance. Another big change was that this time, the partners were in on the critiquing along with the crop of Sytycd hopefuls.
It's unclear if the All-Stars are, or should be part of the critique, or whether they should get lost and leave the contestant as the focus. Feels like they're making it up as they go.
That said, there was terrific dancing as always.
The Top 10: Tonight, only nine will remain.

Someone had to go — and Alexie definitely deserved to be the first eliminated contestant from So You Think You Can Dance this season!
There were group hugs, silly dancing and lots of tears on So You Think You Can Dance’s first elimination show of the season June 17 when jazz dancer Alexie Agdeppa got the boot — but honestly, she deserved to go!
Despite the critiques the 26-year-old jazz dancer received from the judges, I was unimpressed by her hip-hop performance with Twitch. That said, it was sad to see her go, especially after finding out how many times she had tried out for the show (Four in total), and she Was truly adorable, but as judge Mia Michaels said, “cute” can only get you so far!

After a truncated audition period and last Thursday's weird exhibition episode, So You Think You Can Dance got underway last night, its pairs competing for the first time.
Camera and audio issues aside, it was as good or better than we remember from previous years. The new format with the newcomers and All-Stars is intriguing as well.
Here's a breakdown of the Top 11 performances last night ...
Billy Bell & Lauren Gottlieb: Their Broadway bit by Tyce Diorio was alright, but the steps didn't really follow the beat; Billy stood out, but their chemistry was lacking.
That fact was noted by Nigel, as well. Adam even said Billy needs to focus on the intangibles, since the steps come so naturally. Mia was proud of him in the new genre.
Cristina Santana & Mark Kanemura: Sonya wanted a sexy, sensual jazz routine, and thanks in part to her all-star partner, Cristina...

As we saw during last night’s So You Think You Can Dance, Nigel and the panel decided to choose a cast of 11 — not 10 — incredible dancers for this very different, very intriguing seventh season. So how will things work, once the competition officially begins next week? As we’ve known for months now, the show is bringing back 12 all-stars from previous seasons — including folks like season 3′s Pasha Kovalev, season 4′s Mark Kanemura, and season 6′s Kathryn McCormick — to dance with the top 11. But rather than pairing them with the same all-star week after week, à la Dancing With the Stars,...

Five years in, there isn't much interesting to say about the audition episodes of So You Think You Can Dance, but it's great to have the show back - and where it belongs.
More accurately, when it belongs.
Following the terrible experiment of running Sytycd in the fall as well as the summer, Fox pulled the plug and announced its summer hit will remain just that ... for good.
It is what it is, as the saying goes. A summer fill-in for American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance is perfect in this capacity. Same format, same producers, lighter fare.
The show is also switching things up a bit this season. Instead of pairing 20 finalists with the same partner, there will be only 10, each paired with Sytycd "All-Stars."
So You Think You Can Dance auditions certainly spark enthusiasm.
Those would be standouts from previous seasons, including the likes of Stephen “tWitch” Boss,...

With "American Idol" in the rearview mirror, it's time for the reality competition that really pushes competitors to the limit and rarely disappoints. "So You Think You Can Dance" kicks off its seventh season with a two-hour premiere tonight (May 27) at 8 p.m., and with this new season, producer Nigel Lythgoe has shaken things up a bit by bringing in some new twists.
There are a handful of new rules that will switch up the competition entirely. The most notable one sees the jettisoning of the top 20. Instead, they're choosing 10 dancers right away (five guys and five girls) from the audition rounds in Las Vegas. The show will be augmented by a team of 12 "all-stars" — past contestants from different seasons who are "experts" in their particular dance genre. These dancers won’t be judged, and won't be choreographing.

This is gonna be kinda weird, dear readers. Not Rascal Flatt's Gary Lavox trying to dance with Shakira weird, or Shakira trying to quote Roosevelt and/or Casey Kasem weird. But, well, there's not all that much to tell you about the on-the-scene action during last night's live American Idol results show. As you may have gathered, a good half of the evening was pre-taped, and the judges and contestants were nowhere to be seen when the cameras weren't broadcasting live. However, after the show was over and the 19 Entertainment logo had chirped, none other than Lady Gaga invaded the Idoldome,...

While everyone else was interested in the off-stage drama of the un-fianced Maksim and Karina from Dancing with The Stars, the only thing about the Emmy dance routine we cared about was the plethora of So You Think You Can Dance alumni. Backing the Dancing with the Stars (ex)couple were Season 4 alumni Mark Kanemura, Katee Shean, Joshua Allen, Season 3 (and Abdc's) Hok Konishi and Dominic Sandoval, as well as Season 1 and fellow Quest Crew member Ryan Conferido. The routine was even choreographed by So You Think You Can Dance choreographers and occasional guest judges, Tabitha and Napoleon.
And fear not, if you happened to miss the sizzling routine, we've got the video for you.

To mark tonight's season premiere of So You Think You Can Dance, we asked season 4 fan favorite Stephen "tWitch" Boss -- he and partner Katee Shean performed Mia Michaels' Emmy-nominated routine to "Mercy" (a.k.a. "The Door Dance") -- to pick his favorite Sytycd performances of all time. His list, "in no particular order," follows. 15. Ade and Melissa, "This Woman’s Work" (season 5) Choreographed by Tyce Diorio "I’m definitely in tears writing about this one. There was power, trust, hope, understanding, compassion, sincerity, anger, fear, and all of the other underlying things that come along when you or someone you know goes through this experience . Everyone who felt the power of this piece was connected on what the meaning of unconditional love really is and should be. Next week's MTV Video Music Awards is shaping up to be a So You Think You Can Dance affair. Season 3's Travis Wall (and new, triumphant Sytycd choreographer) will be choreographing the evening's opening number, Season 4's Mark Kanemura will be a back-up dancer for Lady Gaga, and fellow Season 4 alumni Kherington King's music video for Fame will also be show during the Vma's.
But that's not all folks, while So You Think You Can Dance wasn't able to swing a Michael Jackson tribute dance/show, MTV is. According to Wade Robson's Myspace, for that Mj tribute MTV will be bringing in a handful of So You Think You Can Dance choreographers including Wade, Mia Michaels, Brian Friedman, Tyce Diorio, Dave Scott, and Laurie Anne Gibson. The best of So You Think You Can Dance's choreographers will be performing along side Janet Jackson, in what is sure to be an emotional tribute.

Full disclosure: I'm a rabid So You Think You Can Dance fan. Every summer for the past four years the talent on display on this show simply blows every other reality competition out of the water. So much so, that one can even overlook the nagging, hetero-cheerleading presence of producer Nigel Lythgoe on the judging panel.
Nigel's peculiar obsession with the masculinity of male dancers aside, Sytycd raises your standards when it comes to dance. I mean, once you start watching this show it is awfully hard to sit through an episode of Dancing with the Stars.
Sytycd is now in its fifth season, and every year we wonder if they can assemble dancers talented enough to stack up against previous season standouts such as Travis Wall, Danny Tidwell, Neil Haskell, and a host of others.
