It’s been two years since Black Panther came out and unfortunately for the band Yeasayer, who have decided to sue Kendrick Lamara and The Weeknd for using their material, which I’ll get into, this really appears to be more of a cash grab by a band that formally split as of December of 2019. Two years almost they’ve had to file this complaint, as Kevin Burwick of MovieWeb even mentions. Two years and nothing. So why now? The reason for calling it a cash grab is that Yeasayer is not one of the more popular mainstream bands out there, though

The now-defunct Brooklyn band Yeasayer has filed a lawsuit against the Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar and others claiming their 2018 Black Panther soundtrack collaboration “Pray for Me” infringes on the band’s 2007 track, “Sunrise,” Pitchfork reports.
In the suit, Yeasayer — which broke up last December — said that “Pray for Me” contains an uncredited sample of “Sunrise” that’s described as “a distinctive choral performance… comprised of male voices singing in their highest registers, with animated, pulsing vibrato, and developed via distinctive audio post-processing.” The band alleges that the Weeknd, Lamar and the...

Oh, so that's why Anna Kendrick released that video for "Cups." In addition to being a surprise, sequel-spawning box office hit, "Pitch Perfect" was also a smash soundtrack success that's still topping the Billboard charts in that category today. You would think that Universal Music Group might have done a better push for this, or at least raised some kind of awareness, but anyway a new Ep of sorts of additional songs from the movie is here. Kendrick's "Cups" aka "When I'm Gone" kicks things off, along with the pretty dope remix/mashup of Azealia Banks' "212" and Young Mc's "Bust A Move." Nicki Minaj, Yeasayer and more round it all out. Why this is coming somewhat randomly months after the film is a bit of a question mark, but fans who have been searching for these songs (and they have been) will undoubtedly be pleased. Tonight is the season finale of "House" which is a show that I have a troubled relationship with. The first couple seasons I was completely on board and then it became increasingly obvious that rather that the writers had absolutely no intention of having the House character grow or suffer any real consequences for his actions. There was that awful story line with the cop who had it in for him (Tritter?) but that more punished the people around him and rather than abandoning his selfish, destructive ass to the real world, they just gathered the wagons around him tighter. After that I watched less and less as his actions became less and less defensible. I'll drop in for an episode every now or again but more often than not just find myself staring at my TV going "Really?" I'll be tuning in tonight but I doubt I'll find my opinion changed much.
