They talk about working in Canada, while we even chat about their cooking skills, and whether they have any phobias. We also couldn’t help but speak about Ryan Gosling’s performance as Ken at the Oscars, because yes we’re still thinking about it. You can watch the interview in its entirety below.

"Pop the question before she switches teams again!" Paramount Movies has revealed an official trailer for a romantic comedy called French Girl, a Canadian feature about a distinctly Canadian problem - what if you move up to a new city and almost everyone there speaks French, and you don't. Adorable. Or as they say in French, adorablé. Gordon, a hopeless romantic, finds his proposal plans are thrown into chaos when his girlfriend is swept away to Quebec City by a job offer from her ex, a sophisticated celebrity chef. Determined to keep their love alive, Gordon leaves Brooklyn for her hometown, only to find himself hilariously out of his depth in attempting to charm her hard-to-impress, French-speaking family. Zach Braff stars with Evelyne Brochu as his girlfriend Sophie, plus Luc Picard, Antoine Olivier Pilon, Isabelle Vincent, Charlotte Aubin, Muriel Dutil, with William Fichtner and Vanessa Hudgens. This looks mildly amusing...

Maple Syrup Massacre is an editorial series where Joe Lipsett dissects the themes, conventions and contributions of new and classic Canadian horror films. Spoilers follow…
One of the darkest moments in Canadian history happened on Dec 6, 1989: a male shooter walked into the École Polytechnique de Montréal with a semi-automatic rifle. He had written several letters outlining an anti-feminist agenda and he specifically targeted women in his shooting spree, eventually killing fourteen.
For thirty-one years, the “Montreal Massacre” was Canada’s worst shooting.
Denis Villeneuve’s 2009 film Polytechnique, co-written with Jacque Davidts, recounts the events of Dec 6. The film is shot in stark black and white and takes place partially in real time during the shooting, with time jumps and other strategic technical decisions to avoid being sensational or exploitative.
The film opens with a brief burst of violence as two women are shot in a photocopy lab by an offscreen shooter.

Paris Police 1900 blends police procedural and political thriller in La Belle Epoque. But this is no beautiful city. Paris is on the cusp of a new millennium. It is an old city overburdened by its rapidly rising population. Modernity is marching through art and architecture, science and technology, politics and the streets.
The series opens with the fellatio-related death of the French President Félix Faure (Denis Ardant) in February 1899. This event, along with the Dreyfus Affair, helps plunge French politics into turmoil and threatens the continuation of the Third Republic. Meanwhile a young police detective, Antoine Jouin (Jérémie Laheurte), is drawn into the investigation of a woman's murder. Her corpse was found dismembered, stuffed in a suitcase, floating in the Seine. Events transpire to draw the detective, the president's courtesan Marguerite Steinheil (Evelyne Brochu) and the newly appointed police prefect Louis Lépine (Marc Barbé) towards the heart of the...

Despite all her evident idiosyncrasies, there’s something familiar about Sophia (Anne Élisabeth Bossé), the focus of Quebecois debutante Monia Chokri’s comedy “A Brother’s Love,” which gets the Un Certain Regard sidebar of Cannes off to a springy if overlong and somewhat stumbling start. Sophia may have a PhD in political philosophy but she lives a remarkably unexamined life. And in that she is enabled by a co-dependent relationship with her attractive psychologist brother Karim (Patrick Hivon) which traps them both in an eternally arrested state of emotional adolescence. The familiarity springs from a realisation that the male version of Sophia’s character is such a common staple of the modern comedy as to be nearly a cliché: the lovable manchild whose emotional immaturity is actually part of his charm.
However these traits distilled into a woman by Chokri’s promising if overindulgent screenplay and Bossé’s admirably uncompromised performance,...

Good news for fans of Orphan Black. A new Orphan Black series is in early development at AMC, Deadline has learned.
Temple St. Productions, which produced the original series, is on board to produce the series, which we hear is not a reboot or spinoff, but will be a new story set in the Orphan Black universe.
Orphan Black, which helped put BBC America on the original scripted series map as its first homegrown hit, aired for five seasons. It starred Emmy winner Tatiana Maslany as multiple clones in the Peabody Award-winning series that all started on a train platform. A troubled woman, Beth Childs (Maslany), locked eyes with an unknown identical woman, Sarah Manning (Maslany), before jumping to her death. From that day on, they were inextricably linked to a clone conspiracy that came to rule Sarah’s life. The cast also included Ari Millen, Jordan Gavaris, Maria Doyle Kennedy,...

While at Series Mania Festival to present his mini-series “Thanksgiving” in competition, Nicolas Saada sat with Variety to discuss the spy drama which centers on the marriage between a Frenchman and American woman who are keeping secrets from each other.
Written by Saada and Anne-Louise Trividic, “Thanksgiving” was produced by Claude Chelli at Capa Drama, the thriving French banner behind “Versailles” and “Braquo,” for Franco-German network Arte. Newen Distribution is handling international sales on the series.
A former high-profile film critic, Saada previously wrote Frederic Jardin’s “Nuit Blanche,” which was remade into “Sleepless” with Jamie Foxx; and directed two films, “Spy(ies),” a London-set thriller with Guillaume Canet, and most recently “Taj Mahal,” a psychological thriller with Stacy Martin (“Nymphomaniac”) set against the backdrop of the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attack.

We don't have to worry whether Orphan Black will be cancelled or renewed for a sixth season. When BBC America and Canada's Space channel renewed the drama for a fifth season, last year, they made it clear it was for a final installment. Showrunner Graeme Manson said that it was a creative decision. Even though it is ending, we're still tracking the ratings, for a few reasons. It can help predict the likelihood of a spin-off or sequel. It helps us measure the success of other BBC America shows. And, it's also fun. A sci-fi thriller series, Orphan Black stars Tatiana Maslany as Sarah Manning and the Leda clones. "The machine is incredible!" "Pure, unfiltered truth." Ready to remember all of your memories? Lionsgate has debuted the official trailer for an indie sci-fi film titled Rememory, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. This is one of a few subtle indie sci-fi films that played at the festival, along with Marjorie Prime and The Discovery. The gimmick in this is a device that can extract, record and play a person's memories. The inventor is found dead, and his wife retreats into her home until a mysterious man shows up and begins investigating what exactly happened. Peter Dinklage stars, with Julia Ormond, Martin Donovan, Evelyne Brochu, Henry Ian Cusick, and the late Anton Yelchin. The film received pretty bad reviews out of Sundance, and while I am somewhat intrigued, this trailer doesn't really grab me. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Mark Palansky's Rememory, direct...

Memory is elusive, and the same event can be perceived entirely differently depending of the perspective of those experiencing it. So, it’s no surprise that when it’s discovered how to record and play back memories in “Rememory,” trouble isn’t far behind.

[Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers from “To Right the Wrongs of Many,” the series finale of “Orphan Black.”]
BBC America has dubbed “Orphan Black’s” last season “The Final Trip,” and it has been an uneven ride of highs and lows that nevertheless ended satisfactorily.
The season began with the promise that Sarah (Tatiana Maslany) and her sestras would take a stand once and for all to take down the shadowy man who was behind behind their cloning and who still wanted to control their biology. It was exciting to think of the Ledas coming together in force to finally stick it to the man.
Unfortunately putting a face to the name P.T. Westmoreland (Stephen McHattie) proved to be too much of a bizarre distraction. While his Victorian affectations were entertaining, his entire storyline this year — from the “Island of Dr. Moreau” vibes to that twisted Victorian dress-up dinner party — felt far too cartoonish to be worthy of the series’ big bad. After a while, all of...

There will be no shortage of clone meet-ups during Orphan Black‘s fifth and final season, premiering this Saturday at 10/9c on BBC America.

The sestras will return for their final “Orphan Black” ride in June, but they’ll go down fighting.
When last we left the Leda clones, Alison (Tatiana Maslany) and husband Donnie (Kristian Bruun) had gone out hiding in the woods, along with the very pregnant Helena (Maslany). Meanwhile, Sarah (Maslany) is injured and on the run after Rachel (Maslany) went on a homicidal rampage. Rachel is now about to meet the mysterious P.T. We had also seen Cosima’s (Maslany) reunion with Delphine (Evelyne Brochu), and Kira (Skyler Weller) and Mrs. S (Maria Doyle Kennedy) being held hostage.

Sadly, Orphan Black's next season will be its last but something tells us Clone Club is going to go out with a big bang. BBC America recently gave fans a sneak peek behind the production and revealed new cast members for Season 5. Star Tatiana Maslany has received many awards for her time playing eleven different clones on the series created by John Fawcett and Graeme Manson but it wasn't until this year she finally nabbed the Emmy. Clone Club, as the fans are affectionally know, were over the moon but it was the tiniest bit bittersweet knowing the end was near. Season 5 will feature Maslany as well as the returning Jordan Gavaris (Felix), Kristian Bruun (Donnie), Evelyne Brochu (Delphine), Maria Doyle Kennedy (Mrs. S), Kevin Hanchard (Art), Ari Millen (Ira), Josh Vokey (Scott), Skyler Wexler (Kira), James Frain ( Ferdinand), and yes, Hell Wizard Calwyn Shurgold. Another amazing season of clone drama (and audiences wondering about Tatiana Maslany's well-deserved Emmy) has come to a close with the Orphan Black Season 4 Finale.
As a whole, Orphan Black Season 4 was pretty damn great. It was certainly an improvement over Orphan Black Season 3, which was a bit too Castor-clone-filled for my tastes. There were plenty of wonderful performances, heartbreaking moments, killer twists, and satisfying reunions – all the makings of spectacular drama.
While we're sad to have learned that next season will be the show's last hurrah, the finale set up plenty to look forward to. A new villain, in the form of P. T. Westmoreland, Cophine goodness, and Sarah needing to rescue her family (yet again) are all on the horizon.
But before we move on to anticipating and speculating about Orphan Black Season 5, let's take a look back at the highs, the lows, and the clone MVPs...

Twelve hours ago Orphan Black co-creator John Fawcett tweeted "The end is near," which many fans took as a sign of the end of Season 4 but today BBC America announced the big news. Orphan Black will return for Season 5 next year which will also be its last. Clone Club is bound to be shocked by the news. The BBC America series launched to rave critical and fan reviews when it began back in 2013. The series stars Tatiana Maslany as a series of clones in what is not only a technical but tremendous acting achievement. Layers have been peeled back each season revealing more clones for Maslany to master as well as depths of conspiracy and betrayal. The series is fantastic at covering both fantastical as well as real-world science, what it means to be family, sexuality, gender, and more. Co-creators Fawcett and Graeme Manson released a shared statement: “We are excited to deliver an epic conclusion to the tale of Sarah and her clone sisters. The past four seasons have been a phenomenal adventure, and we are eternally grateful to our loyal fans who have loved the twists and thrills of our weird little show. We are thankful to our partners at Temple Street, and to BBC America and Space for their support and giving us the opportunity to end on a high.” “When we embarked upon this journey with John and Graeme, we knew we had something special on our hands, but didn’t imagine how deeply it would resonate with audiences and the worldwide acclaim it would receive. We are truly in awe of Tatiana, who, each season, pulls off the impossible and brings each clone and their unique personalities to life in an extraordinarily captivating way,” said David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg, Executive Producers of Orphan Black and Co-Presidents of Boat Rocker Studios. “We are so proud of the cast and crew, who will be on this final ride with us as we draw the Orphan Black story to a close, and extremely thankful to our partners at BBC America and Space for their continued support, as well as the legions of fans who have made these five seasons possible." Orphan Black received a Peabody Award in 2014, and Maslany received a 2015 Emmy nomination for Best Actress, two Critics’ Choice Awards for Best Actress, a TCA Award for Individual Achievement, a Young Hollywood Award, a Gracie Award, two Canadian Screen Awards and Golden Globe, SAG and People’s Choice nominations. Here's hoping more wise up to her outstanding talent. While Maslany fills out a significant portion of the cast, she's joined by the talented Jordan Gavaris, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Kristian Bruun, Skyler Wexler, Kevin Hanchard, Ari Millen, Evelyne Brochu and Josh Vokey. I'm gutted to hear next season will be the last, but I'm also thankful the show will be able to go out on its own terms and have time to wrap up the story in a satisfying way. And frankly, it also gives fans time to come to terms with the end, something not a lot of fan-favorite shows get the opportunity to do these days. Temple Street will be producing ten episodes for BBC America (and Space in Canada) for Season 5. Season 4's finale airs tonight, Thursday, June 16th at 10/9c.

Once again forced to flee, she realizes no matter how far her family runs it will never be far enough.”
In tandem with the extended clip – shedding some light on Sarah’s chance meeting with one Beth Childs – the network has also dropped an eerie new promo for Orphan Black season 4. Remaining as stylish as ever, the footage hops around from one clone to the next, not only reminding us of Maslany’s complex...

We’re fast approaching the premiere of Orphan Black season 4 and with little under a month to go, BBC America has rolled out the latest psychedelic trailer, heralding the return of Tatiana Maslany’s haunted Sarah and her many, many clones.
If previous seasons have laid the foundations of a global conspiracy, then things appear to be coming to a head for Maslany’s protagonist. Retaining the fast cuts and pulsing soundtrack of existing teasers, Orphan Black season 4 is all about narrowing down the hunt for Beth Childs – the one clone that started it all.
Besides, considering that season 3’s pacing ebbed and flowed, ultimately distracting from the core concept at the heart of the series, here’s hoping for a return to form with next month’s batch of episodes.

New season, new clones, and a whole new string of mysterious for Tatiana Maslany’s character (characters?) to unfold. BBC America has today premiered a new teaser for Orphan Black season 4, and this one not only includes some tangible footage, it also confirms the show’s return on April 14.
Sarah Manning is back on the case in today’s teaser, though a series of trippy jump cuts amplified by dubstep help drive home the point that Maslany’s lead is something of a tormented sole. Returning home from her Icelandic haven, Orphan Black season 4 is set to trace back to the origins of BBC America’s hit drama, with Sarah searching far and wide to search the one clone that started it all, Beth Childs.
Also starring Jordan Gavaris, Kevin Hanchard, Évelyne Brochu, Kristian Bruun, and Maria Doyle Kennedy, Orphan Black season 4 will premiere exclusively on BBC America come April 14. Mark the date,...
