Global production, financing and distribution company Dynamic Television has announced a first round of international sales for “Creepshow,” Shudder’s – an AMC Networks channel – popular horror anthology series based on George A Romero’s 1982 cult classic written by Steven King. Deals were announced for M6 and Salto in France; Atresmedia in Spain; AMC Networks for Poland and the Middle East; Ote in Greece; Rusreport in Russia, Cis states, the Baltics and Ukraine; Telnet in Belgium; Rtbf for French-speaking Belgium and Astro in Malaysia. Season 1 was a hit in the U.S., U.K., Germany and Australia for showrunner and executive producer Greg Nicotero. A second season has already been ordered.

Sky Studios has signed an exclusive deal with Philipp Leinemann, under which the German filmmaker will develop, write and direct local and international dramas for the company.
His 2014 debut film Wir Waren Könige (The King’s Surrender) won awards including best feature at the Torino Film Festival, while his German TV series Tempel is being developed in the U.S. by Shades of Blue and Eyewitness creator Adi Hasak and Dynamic Television.
Sky Studios CEO Gary Davey said: “This is great news for Sky Studios’ ambitions in Germany. Phillip is a top-level talent with the creativity and work ethic that is a perfect fit for us.”
Leinemann added: “Sky is now offering me the opportunity to tell bold and ambitious stories and to develop freely. It reminds me why I came into film-making in the first place and I have a great sense of excitement and joy.”...

German pay-tv group Sky Deutschland has commissioned its second major drama series, giving an eight-episode order for the end-of-the-world drama Eight Days.
Oscar-winning director Stefan Ruzowitzky (The Counterfeiters) has signed on to direct the series, which follows a German family living through what they expect will be the last eight days of human existence.

Particularly with the kinds of headlines earning national attention these days, it might not surprise you to learn that there are those that believe the only difference between a police officer and a criminal depends on who wears the badge. It's not a new concept, and has formed the foundation of countless movies and TV dramas, but writer/director Philipp Leinemann somewhat boldly seems to pretend there are no precedents with "The King's Surrender." Another tale of bad cops doing bad things, it's a grueling retread over familiar ground with little redeeming value. The story kicks off with a German Swat team raiding the home of a drug dealer, but things go south very quickly. An officer is shot and badly wounded, the dealer himself is killed in a hail of bullets, and one of his accomplices gets away. This is just the start of sprawling tale that weaves together...

Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s The Young and Prodigious Spivet will be the opening film at this year’s Filmfest München (June 27-July 5) after Jeunet previously kicked off the festival in Munich in 2001 with Amelie From Montmartre.
Special highlights at what will be Diana Iljine’s fourth outing as festival director include the first ever complete retrospective dedicated to the veteran Us director Walter Hill, a gala evening in honour of the Oscar-winning producer Arthur Cohn with a screening of The Children Of Huang Shi, and a tribute to the producer-director-cinematographer Willy Bogner.
The Walter Hill retrospective will range from his 1975 debut Hard Times, starring Charles Bronson and James Coburn, through such classics as The Long Riders and The Warriors and two films made for Us television - the pilot Deadwood and the Western epic Broken Trail - to his 2012 film Bullet To The Head, with Sylvester Stallone and Christian Slater.
