The Rookie's popularity with viewers remains strong, which has earned the ABC show a renewal for a new seventh season. Pretty good news considering its spin-off, Feds, was unfortunately canceled due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
The strikes also affected the main series, as The Rookie Season 6 has only 10 episodes instead of the usual 20-22, so there hasn't been much content about our favorite members of the LAPD Mid-Wilshire Patrol Division, and next week we'll already see the finale.
And the closer we get to the end of the next chapter of The Rookie, the more revealing the events become. For example, after the last episode it became clearer who the mastermind might be this time. Only the fans were a bit confused, because the villains are getting more outlandish every season, and the regular cops are having to deal with those who are usually targeted by S.W.A.T.

The table has been set, and the stakes raised, for The Rookie‘s Season 6 finale, airing Tuesday, May 21 on ABC.
A lot happened in this week’s episode, which opened with Bradford (played by Eric Winter) being quickly benched after he was basically framed, by Pearson, for Mad Dog’s death (which was actually a suicide). Chen (Melissa O’Neill) went undercover as a nanny for one of the underworld’s premiere money launderers, only to learn that Monica (Bridget Regan) would be paying visits. Monica got a bead on those who tried to kill her, thanks to “Cruz Castillo” (guest...

For all its flaws, The Rookie remains an excellent procedural that continues to delight viewers with its balanced mix of police drama, action, and comedy. Based on the true story of an LAPD officer who joined the law enforcement in his mid-40s, the show centers on the department's oldest rookie, John Nolan (Nathan Fillion), who finally gets the chance to become a training officer himself in Season 5. Despite the fact that the ABC series receives mediocre scores from critics, it is very popular among audiences, earning The Rookie not only a spin-off, Feds (unfortunately canceled due to WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes), but also a renewal for a new seventh season.
But for now, we still have three episodes of Season 6 to go, and the plot continues to develop rapidly, providing viewers with intriguing storylines that promise to shock fans closer to the finale. As such, we saw a...

Sometimes a kiss is just a kiss, and sometimes it means more… but maybe not in the way you think. The Rookie in the March 5 episode has to address that moment between Aaron Thorsen (Tru Valentino) and Celina Juarez (Lisseth Chavez) at John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) and Bailey Nune’s (Jenna Dewan) wedding, and TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek is all about that. In the clip, Aaron tries to explain what happened to his therapist, Blair (Danielle Campbell). “Everything was all romantic— music, soft light—and I kind of kissed Celina,” he says. “Celina, who you work with? Celina, who saved your life when you were shot? That Celina?” she checks. “Did I mention the light?” he stresses. “Because I really believe the mood lighting was 20 percent responsible.” When it comes to her reaction, he describes it as “not good. The look she gave me was somewhere between horrified and really horrified.

Sixty-four years late and right on time, Alice Childress’ wise and stirring backstage comedy-drama Trouble in Mind is making its long-in-coming Broadway debut tonight, and to describe the play as prescient would be an understatement. Uncanny rings truer.
With a star turn by Lachanze that takes a strong place in a theatrical season already formidable in its roster of performances, Trouble in Mind takes a behind-the-curtain look at the racism, coded prejudice, self-flattery, sexism and built-in bigotry that Broadway has always professed to eschew.
Childress, who died in 1994, knew better, and her insights fuel Trouble in Mind. First staged to acclaim Off Broadway in 1955, the play, about a Black actress in a big Broadway play who must choose between truth and security, was optioned by producers to open on Broadway in 1957 – if only Childress would write a more upbeat and forgiving ending. She chose truth.

CBS All Access is closing the book on Tell Me a Story.
The Paul Wesley and Danielle Campbell-led anthology series has been canceled after two seasons.
The news is somewhat surprising given that it generated a decent amount of buzz for a show on one of the less popular streaming services.
While CBS All Access will not be ordering a third season, the first two seasons are headed to The CW in a deal that will bring more eyes to the series.
But it may be too late, given that the streamer has canceled it.
The beauty of anthology series is that they have a beginning, middle, and end every season, so fans will not be left in the lurch with several questions unanswered.
Tell Me a Story Season 1 will either be used to bolster the network's summer or fall slate, given the increased reliance on acquisitions.

With many broadcast shows in disarray as a result of the coronavirus production shutdown, a trend is emerging of networks turning to streamers and international waters for content to fill their schedule.
Only hours after Fox announced it will air season 1 of the Spectrum series “L.A.’s Finest” this fall, the CW has gone three better by acquiring the broadcast rights to four different series, among them “Swamp Thing” from DC Universe and “Tell Me a Story” from CBS All Access.
In additional news, the Kevin Williamson-created anthology thriller has been canceled by All Access, Variety has confirmed, meaning that the show will end at two seasons, both of which will be heading to CW for a second-window run and will remain available to stream on All Access.
The other two shows that CW has picked up are “Coroner” (two seasons) and “Dead Pixels” (one season), which hail from Canada and the U.

In additional news, the Kevin Williamson-created anthology thriller has been canceled by All Access, Variety has confirmed, meaning that the show will end at two seasons, both of which will be heading to CW for a second-window run and will remain available to stream on All Access.

Kevin Williamson won’t be spinning a third season of Tell Me a Story on CBS All Access. The streamer has canceled the fairytale-themed anthology thriller after just two seasons, TVLine has confirmed.
But there’s a twist (of sorts) to this story: The CW has acquired both seasons, our sister site Deadline reports, and they may be used to fill gaps left in the network’s fall schedule due to Hollywood’s coronavirus shutdown. The show’s first two seasons will remain available to stream on CBS All Access.

Kevin Williamson’s horror anthology series Tell Me a Story will not return to CBS All Access for a third installment. The two existing seasons of the show, from Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, have been acquired by the CW. This will mark the TV network debut of Tell Me a Story. It also will mark the return to the CW for The Vampire Diaries co-creator/executive producer Williamson and star Paul Wesley who stars in both seasons of the CBS All Access series, as does Danielle Campbell of The Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals.
Seasons 1 & 2 of Tell Me a Story will continue to be available on CBS All Access across platforms, with the CW licensing the first two seasons for a second-window run. It is not clear yet whether Tell Me a Story‘s first season would run on the CW in the summer or be kept for fall...

Tell Me A Story Season 2 begins on Thursday. This season there will be three new fairytales woven together to merge into one seamless tale.
Tell Me A Story Season 1 featured the tales of The Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, and Hansel and Gretel to great effect.
Can the latest season match the heights with retellings of Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Beauty and the Beast?
Critics received the first two episodes of the second season which set the stage for the stories to begin.
Set in Nashville, Tennessee, we meet the Pruitt family including matriarch Rebecca (Carrie-Ann Moss) and her three children, Ashley (Natalie Alyn Lind), Maddie (Odette Annable), and Jackson (Matt Lauria).
Each of the three children finds themselves embroiled in one of the three fairytales.
Ashley is at the heart of Beauty and the Beast, Jackson at the heart of Cinderella, and Maddie on the periphery of Sleeping Beauty.

Paul Wesley has finally addressed the claims that he did not get along with his The Vampire Diaries co-star, Nina Dobrev.
Wesley played Stefan Salvatore, and Dobrev played Elena Gilbert on The CW smash, and for the first few seasons, the characters were in a relationship.
“I think the point that Nina was making, and I’ll totally back her up on this, is that we totally clashed [the] first couple years in terms of just getting on each other’s nerves, and then developed this wonderful friendship,” Wesley told reporters at the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Thursday, August 1.
“So it’s like this nice, happy ending.”

Amid the reboots and sequelitis on both the big and small screens, Kevin Williamson was asked during his Tell Me a Story panel at TCA whether a third iteration of his popular late-’90s teen drama Dawson’s Creek was in the cards.
“We keep talking about it, but … as of now it’s not even in the pipeline,” he said. “We talked about it but didn’t really find a reason to do it. We [came] up with, ideas and we’ve thought about it, but no.”

It was earlier revealed in December that the second season will interweave the stories of the three princesses from Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella. Chicago – Miranda Bailey has a proven track record as a film producer of big title independent films, and has worked as a writer and actor. She has now conquered the creative side, as she makes her debut as a feature film director with “Being Frank.” The film features comedian Jim Gaffigan in the title role, and also features Anna Gunn, Samantha Mathis and Alex Karpovsky.
“Being Frank” has Jim G. as a father, which he also famously is in real life, but this Dad has a twist. Somehow, someway Frank has managed to maintain two families, and take them to maturation. This bigamist jig is slowly coming apart as the film begins, when Phillip (Logan Miller), the son of the Mom portrayed by Anna Gunn, begins to suspect that something is amiss. Meanwhile, in Frank’s second family (where the Mom is played by Samantha Mathis), his daughter Allison (Danielle Campbell...

Chicago – Comedian Jim Gaffigan is one of the funniest persons on earth, basically by being himself (Score!). In the last five years, he has been immersing himself into the waters of character acting in the movies, doing some serious supporting roles in films like “Chuck” and “Chappaquiddick.”
Lately, he has been on an indie film streak, with lead roles this year in “Light from Light” – which closed this year’s Chicago Critics Festival – and the recently released “Being Frank,” in which he portrays the title character.

The Haunted Comedy is a genre that probably reached its height in the 1940s with movies like Abbott and Costello's Hold that Ghost.
There was another wave of them during the 1980s with Haunted Honeymoon starring Gene Wilder and Gilda Radner, and High Spirits with Steve Guttenberg and Daryl Hannah.
To be clear, a haunted comedy is not the same as the horror comedies of the 90s like the Scream spoofs of the Scary Movie franchise.
Ghost Light is a comedy first, and one that deals with the goofy antics of the theater crowd.
Tempting Fate Review: Mistakes Were Made!
It's through their idiosyncracies and superstitions that the haunting gets explored.
If you didn't know, one of those superstitions is that the play, Macbeth, is cursed. You can't say the title lest the entire production get cursed.
Quoting lines before the production is also verboten, especially when noting the witches incantations.
