Idw's Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures comic books have explored Yoda's place in The High Republic era, leading to hopes among fans that the iconic Jedi Master might show up in The Acolyte.
A Yoda cameo would make sense considering how high the stakes in the series are expected to be. However, new comments from showrunner Leslye Headland (via SFFGazette.com) suggest we should temper expectations about him or any other well-known Star Wars characters making cameo appearances.
"Can you imagine? Can you imagine if they were like, 'No problem. You can use Yoda. Not a big deal. Go for it.' No, there is not [a Yoda cameo]," she admitted. "We are pulling characters from the High Republic, and characters from [EU [Expanded Universe]. That's it."
The mention of the Expanded Universe is bound to draw some interest, particularly if it means Lucasfilm plans to address the lineage of Sith Masters who eventually led to Emperor Palpatine.

With just a few days to go until Star Wars: The Acolyte premiere on Disney+, the latest TV spot for the show offers a terrifying new glimpse at its mysterious Sith villain. The more we see of that helmet, the closer it looks to what Kylo Ren donned in the sequel trilogy.
Darth Vader's grandson being inspired by a powerful Sith from the past wouldn't be a huge surprise and this mysterious character clearly plays a pivotal role in bringing the Sith back to prominence.
Given The Acolyte's place in the Star Wars timeline, it still seems likely that Darth Plagueis or Darth Tenebrous is beneath the mask. However, Lucasfilm may be planning to make some significant changes to much of the lore established in Expanded Universe stories.
Thanks to Bespin Bulletin, we also have intel on the runtimes for The Acolyte's first four episodes:

You won’t have to go to a galaxy far, far away in order to get the latest installment of the Star Wars story. Coming in June on Disney+, fans will be treated to the new series “The Acolyte,” which travels back to the end of the galaxy’s High Republic Era. In a similar vein, also coming to the platform in the new month are the final episodes of Disney+’s first season as the streaming home for “Doctor Who.” You won’t want to miss any of the action as the Fifteenth Doctor attempts to save time and space.
Throughout June, Disney+ will also celebrate the 90th birthday of Donald Duck and premiere a new preschool-aimed series based on the iconic “Little Mermaid” film. As always, Disney+ will premiere titles that appear to all members of the family.
The company’s flagship streaming service has two subscription options.

Every fandom has its share of toxic elements, but it's probably fair to say that Disney-era Star Wars has experienced more negativity and backlash from a certain contingent of fans than any other franchise over the past few years.
There was the expected amount of pushback to Daisy Ridley being announced as the lead of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but it really picked up when her character, Rey, was deemed to be a "Mary Sue." The toxicity arguably reached a crescendo when Kelly Marie-Tran's Rose Tico was introduced in The Last Jedi, but the general perception among some fans that Star Wars has become too pandering in its representation and inclusivity continues.
With The Acolyte - a new Disney+ series from showrunner Leslye Headland featuring a primarily female cast - on the horizon, Lucasfilm CEO Kathleen Kennedy acknowledged that coming aboard the franchise can be a "terrifying" experience for female filmmakers and actors.

We're now just a few days away from the two-episode premiere of The Acolyte, and between the persistent rumors and the trailers possibly revealing a little too much, it seems Lucasfilm has given the cast the go-ahead to discuss a certain plot point relating to Amandla Stenberg's character.
If you'd rather go in knowing as little as possible, here's your spoiler warning.
Previous reports have claimed that Stenberg will actually play a dual role as twins, one of whom carries out the Jedi assassinations and frames the other for the murders.
During an interview with The Electric Playground, Stenberg confirmed that she is indeed playing twins named Mae and Osha, while also revealing some new details about both sisters.

‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ marks the upcoming installment in the ‘Star Wars’ franchise, set to debut on Disney+ on June 4th. It promises to offer a wholly unique adventure.
Taking place during the High Republic Era, also dubbed the Golden Age of the Jedi Order due to their vast numbers, the series aims to challenge the notion that Jedi alone wield the Force for good. Showrunner Leslye Headland appears poised to explore the idea that, given the right circumstances, the Jedi can be portrayed as bad guys.
The show unexpectedly sparked controversy online, largely stemming from its female-led cast and controversial statements made by Headland regarding Star Wars lore. These controversies led to rumors circulating a few weeks ago suggesting that the show had been canceled even before its release.
In a recent interview with SFX Magazine, producer Rayne Roberts hinted that the show might still receive a second season:...

‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ is the next chapter in the ‘Star Wars’ franchise. The show arrives on Disney+ on June 4th and it promises to be a completely different adventure.
The show will be set during the High Republic Era, also known as the Golden Age of Jedi Order due to their overwhelming numbers, and it seems that Headland is trying to use that setting to prove that Jedi don’t have the monopoly on Force and that they do too can be bad guys when context is given.
The show surprisingly stirred a lot of controversy online primarily due to having a female-led cast, and due to some controversial statements made by Headland regarding the Star Wars lore. Due to this controversy, rumors started spreading a couple of weeks ago that the show is canceled, even before it hit the screen.

We're now just eight days away from the 2-episode premiere of The Acolyte, and Lucasfilm has shared another clip from the latest live-action Disney+ Star Wars series.
Last week's sneak peek saw Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) engaged in fierce combat with the mysterious warrior he believes to be his former apprentice, Mae (Amandla Stenberg), and here we see the dark-side Force-user try her hand against an equally formidable opponent in Master Indara (Carrie-Anne Moss).
Indara easily evades Mae's initial strikes, but it soon becomes clear that she has been well-trained, and the Jedi's foe manages to land a decent hit towards the end of the fight.
During a recent interview with Empire, The Matrix star spoke about getting the opportunity to join the Star Wars universe and reignite her passion for performing action sequences.

It's no surprise that there isn't a single war movie that's easy to watch. Still, these films are usually adored by both critics and audiences.
First, they require a great deal of technical skill to make. Second, the amount of thought that goes into the set and costume design cannot go unnoticed. And third, the actors tend to shine the brightest in the face of dramatic dialogue and heartbreaking scenes, and there is no shortage of those when it comes to war.
If you're craving a good war movie, but don't have anything specific in mind, Netflix is ready to help with a new addition to its library.
Is 1917 Worth Watching?
Unlike many war movies, 1917 takes viewers back to World War I, not a few decades later. This alone sets 1917 apart from many other films in the genre, giving it a unique setting and rare insight into the events.

Netflix keeps going on with its permanent mission to give old flicks a second life, and it seems like one of last years’ most successful movies will thrive once again as soon as it lands on the streaming giant’s platform.

Actor Lee Jung-jae will attend the Monte-Carlo Television Festival next month for the French press launch of Lucasfilm’s latest live-action series “Star Wars: The Acolyte,” which streams on Disney+. In the show, Lee plays a Jedi Master.
It was his role in the globally successful Netflix series “Squid Game” that first catapulted Lee’s career to an international level. Starring as Seong Gi-hun (No. 456), a financially struggling father who participates in a deadly survival game, his performance earned him the Emmy Award for best actor in a drama series, a first for a non-English speaking actor.
This tremendous success significantly elevated the career of Lee, who is now considered by many as the international standard-bearer for a highly creative and avant-garde Korean culture.
In “Star Wars: The Acolyte,” an investigation into a series of shocking crimes pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee) against a dangerous warrior from his past.

In the extended sneak peek, we find Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) engaged in fierce combat with Mae (Amandla Stenberg), his former apprentice.
Or at least, who he believes to be his former apprentice!

Based on what we can gather from recent leaks and the character name subtitle in last week's TV spot, this is not actually Mae at all, but her sister. Rumor has it that Stenberg is playing a dual role as a pair of twins, one good and one evil (the titular Acolyte), with the former blamed for her sibling's sinister actions.

A lot of footage has been released from The Acolyte recently, but Disney and Lucasfilm may have dropped a major spoiler for the next Star Wars TV series.
Speculation has been running rampant for a while now about Amandla Stenberg potentially playing two characters in the show, and it looks like she will indeed be portraying twins. The theory stems from the fact recent previews have shown Mae sporting different clothing and what seems to be a contrasting personality in those scenes.
As we first reported on SFFGazette.com, the subtitles for The Acolyte's latest TV spot have confirmed Stenberg isn't Mae in those scenes, she's "Osha." Disney moved quickly to remove the spoiler, though the Loth-cat is very much out of the bag at this stage.
Based on past plot leaks, it's safe to assume that Mae and Osha were separated as children, with the latter being trained by...

With Star Wars: The Acolyte just a couple of weeks away, another new TV spot is doing the rounds on social media which showcases Jedi Master Vernestra Rwoh's Lightwhip.
As we first explained on SFFGazette.com, it's been established that Lightwhips are a heavily modified lightsaber variant with multiple plasma blades in flexible containment shields. Due to the blades' flexibility, they require more care to use than a regular lightsaber and have less cutting power.
With a history dating back to the "Sith Wars," Lightwhips were particularly associated with the Nightsisters of Dathomir, though Jedi have been known to use them as well. High Republic Era Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh is among them and was able to modify her lightsaber to have an additional whip mode after learning the design in a Force vision.

Star Wars: The Acolyte continues to intrigue and divide fans in equal measure. Despite that latter point, it looks set to be be a crucial chapter in the story of how the Sith returned to prominence before The Phantom Menace.
The Disney+ series reportedly takes place roughly 100 years before the events of that movie, meaning we're likely to meet Emperor Palpatine's Master, Darth Plagueis.
We've seen more than a few glimpses of a red lightsaber in recent promos for The Acolyte, and in an interview with SFX (via SFFGazette.com), executive producer Simon Emanuel revealed that he enlisted action designer Chris Clark Cowan to work on the show.
Why does that matter? Well, he was one of the key creatives behind Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's unforgettable Darth Vader hallway scene!

The next live-action Disney+ Star Wars series, The Acolyte, is set to premiere on June 5, and Lucasfilm has now released two new teasers, one of which might confirm (or at least hint at) a recent rumor that's been doing the rounds.
Possible spoilers follow.
The first promo once again sees Master Sol vow to track down his wayward apprentice, Mae, who has seemingly fallen to the Dark Side and become the titular acolyte (which she is referred to as for the first time here). We then see Mae confronted at the edge of a snowy cliff, where she professes her innocence: "I didn't do it... believe me!"
If she is being sincere here, it might just confirm a persistent rumor that actress Amandla Stenberg will actually play a dual role as twins, which means Mae could have an evil sister out there taking down Jedi and framing her sibling for the murders.

Lucasfilm released a new trailer for The Acolyte yesterday (see below) to mark this year's Star Wars Day celebrations, and a new poster for the next live-action Disney+ Star Wars series has now been unveiled at Ccxp Mexico.
Some fans on social media initially attempted to pass this off as our first look at Darth Plagueis, but a closer look (see the knives?) reveals that it's actually Amandla Stenberg's character, Mae.
Possible spoilers ahead.
Speaking of Master Sol's former apprentice, a rumor relating to this enigmatic Force-wielder has re-emerged with some additional details. According to Daniel Richtman, both Stenberg and Manny Jacinto will actually play dual roles as two pairs of twins - one good, one evil.

‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ is the next most anticipated thing in the Star Wars universe. This is the first live-action show set in the High Republic era, and it’s groundbreaking because it will “sort of” portray the Jedi as the bad guys, due to them being an overwhelming systemic force in that specific time period.
The show was pitched as “Frozen meets Kill Bill” and it has a lot of influences from Samurai and Wuxia films, which will lead to some very promising action scenes.
A new trailer for the show recently dropped, and we can see that everything starts with the fact that Jedi are getting hunted and murdered across the Galaxy. There are insinuations that the Jedi order is not all pleasant as it would be supposed to be and their dominance is rotten to the core, something we’ve learned during the original trilogy as well.

To mark this year's Star Wars Day celebrations, Lucasfilm has released a brand-new trailer and poster for its next live-action Disney+ Star Wars series, The Acolyte.
In addition to some exciting lightsaber action, the teaser reveals more story details, as Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) vows to bring his wayward former apprentice Mae (Amandla Stenberg) to justice.
Mae doesn't appear to be the only one taking down Jedi, however, as we also get a first proper look at the mysterious Sith villain who is behind the murders. His (her?) face is obscured (with a mask not too dissimilar to the ones Kylo Ren and his Knights wore in the sequel trilogy), which may indicate that this formidable warrior will ultimately be unveiled as an already established character.

"She was my student, I trained her. Let me be the one to bring her in." Whoa! The Acolyte is spearheaded by Bachelorette and "Russian Doll" creator Leslye Headland – who is directing & showrunning this series. An investigation into a crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master against a dangerous warrior from his past. The Acolyte is set at the end of the High Republic era in a world of "shadowy secrets and emerging dark side powers", approximately 100 years before Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999). A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes against Jedi, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated. When the first trailer for Disney Plus’s new Star Wars series, The Acolyte, dropped this winter, it raked up more views in its first 24 hours than any other Star Wars series to date. However, it also happened to be their most disliked trailer to date on the platform, to the point that many accused online trolls of review-bombing the trailer. Even still, hardcore fans of the franchise seemed to meet the trailer with a bit of a shrug, so Lucasfilm and Disney are celebrating Star Wars Day (May the 4th) with a new, more-action driven trailer which makes it seem almost like a sci-fi version of a classic Kung-Fu film from the seventies.
Indeed, martial arts epics and samurai tales always influenced George Lucas when he crafted the original trilogy, so it makes sense that showrunner Lesyle Headland’s take on the franchise would make these elements more prominent than ever.

After several "Star Wars" Disney+ shows set between the beginning of the prequel trilogy and the end of the sequel trilogy, the franchise is taking a bold step back in time with "The Acolyte." Set in the later years of the High Republic, around 100 years before the events of "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace," this story finds the Jedi at the height of their power and the dark side of the Force seemingly banished to the deepest shadows.
A new trailer for "Star Wars: The Acolyte" has been released in celebration of May the 4th, a.k.a. Star Wars Day. With now just one month to go until Star Wars: The Acolyte premieres on Disney+, a new banner has surfaced (via SFFGazette.com) highlighting the show's leads...and potentially its mysterious villain!
Mae, Sol, Venestra, Jecki, Indara, Yord, Kelnacca and Mother Aniseya are among those featured, but to the right of Sol is a mysterious figure clad in all black and wielding the red lightsaber we're betting is the same one featured in the trailers. Could this be our first look at The Acolyte's Sith baddie?
It seems likely, particularly with a helmet that instantly brings up memories of Darth Vader and the Sith Inquisitors. In fact, on closer inspection, it almost seems to boast a toothy grin, a sign perhaps that whoever is beneath the mask has a monstrous side.

Star Wars: The Acolyte Leaked Footage Features An Intense Force Battle And A Badass Carrie-Anne Moss
Star Wars: The Phantom Menace returns to theaters this weekend to celebrate its 25th anniversary. With a month or so before The Acolyte premieres on Disney+, Lucasfilm is looking to build hype for that by attaching an extended preview to the 1999 movie.
Now, that sneak peek has leaked online (via SFFGazette.com) and it features an edge-of-your-seat clash.
The clip kicks off with Amandala Stenberg's Mae entering a cantina and approaching a hooded figure who we soon learn is Carrie-Anne Moss's Jedi Master Indara.
A fight ensues which highlights martial arts and the Force, with Indara eventually wielding her green lightsaber as the footage comes to an end (it's then followed by a previously released trailer). The action here is top-notch and may sway those who have written The Acolyte off before it's even begun.

We’ve learned a lot about the show in the past few weeks since the trailer dropped. Most about its influences. The show was pitched as “Frozen meets Kill Bill” and it has a lot of influences from Samurai and Wuxia films, which will lead to some very promising action scenes.
Now a lot of fans never really checked out the rest of the Star Wars beyond just live-action films and shows, as Leslye Headland also explained that High Republic books were a major influence, even adapting some characters to the big screen.

Carrie-Anne Moss will make the leap from The Matrix to Star Wars with The Acolyte, the upcoming live-action series set to be released on Disney+ this summer. The actress plays Jedi Master Indara, and as we’ve seen in the trailer, she’s adept at wielding a lightsaber as well as using “Force-fu,” which naturally makes one think of Trinity.
According to The Acolyte creator Leslye Headland, that connection with Trinity is very much intentional as she told Empire that Master Indara was “very much inspired” by Carrie-Anne Moss’ iconic Matrix character. “I personally wanted to see someone who had the highest status you could imagine in a Force-fu fight – somebody that would come in and you immediately would be like, ‘Oh, that’s the most powerful Jedi in the room.’ And that’s Trinity,” Headland explained.

Star Wars: The Acolyte will take audiences back to the High Republic era of the franchise, a period in which the Jedi were at their height. Naturally, we will meet plenty of Jedi in the upcoming series, including Jecki Lon, a Padawan played by Logan star Dafne Keen.
Jecki Lon is the Padawan to Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae), and Dafne Keen spoke with Entertainment Weekly about her character. “Well, I’m very excited that we know her name now, because it was secret for so long,” Keen said. “And I’m very happy that I get to say that she’s an alien and that she’s a Padawan and that she’s a Jedi. She’s a mixed species — part Theelin, part human. She’s very cool and I have some very cool fights I do with the lightsaber. I really love her. She’s a great character...

A few weeks back, they released the trailer for the highly awaited ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’, giving us a glimpse of the setting and characters. Though the plot remains largely unknown, fans are thrilled that it’s set in the High Republic Era, a first for live-action.
Despite this unique backdrop, ‘The Acolyte’ is the second show to explore this era, following ‘Young Jedi Adventures’, which recently concluded. Judging from Headland’s comments, ‘Acolyte’ promises to be different from what we anticipate. She described it as a mix of ‘Frozen’ and ‘Kill Bill’, drawing inspiration from samurai and Wuxia films.
Besides the setting, what really catches attention in the show are its characters. Headland admitted that some characters are original while others, like Vernerstra Rwoh, were lifted straight from the books.
The cast for the upcoming project includes Amandla Stenberg playing Mae, a former padawan turned warrior; Lee Jung-Jae as Sol,...

Last week, the trailer for the highly-anticipated ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ was released, giving us a glimpse of the setting and characters. While the plot remains mostly mysterious, fans are thrilled that ‘The Acolyte’ will explore the High Republic Era, a new frontier for live-action storytelling in the franchise.
Despite this unique setting, ‘The Acolyte’ marks only the second show set in this era, following the conclusion of ‘Young Jedi Adventures.’ From what Headland has shared, ‘Acolyte’ promises to offer a fresh perspective. She has described it as a blend of ‘Frozen’ and ‘Kill Bill,’ drawing inspiration from samurai and Wuxia films.
As a big Star Wars fan since her teenage years, it’s no wonder she found inspiration from the Star Wars Expanded Universe. One notable character drawn from the High Republic book series. From the beginning, Headland made it clear that her show would shake up the traditional Jedi narrative,...
