Writer-director Jesper Ganslandt has signed with CAA for representation.
Ganslandt made his debut with “Falkenberg Farewell” in 2006. The coming-of-age film followed a group of friends who grew up in the titular town of Falkenberg and spend a last summer there before moving to the big city.
The film debuted at Venice and had a stellar festival run including Toronto, Reykjavik, Tallinn Black Nights and Goteborg. It was nominated for the Nordic Council’s Film Prize, chosen as Sweden’s submission for the Academy Awards, and was nominated in several categories at the Guldbagge Awards in 2007, including best film, best direction and best screenplay. It won the Fipresci Award at the IndieLisboa International Independent Film Festival.
Ganslandt went on to co-direct documentary “The Film I’m No Longer Talking About” (2009), in which a group of friends without much experience decides to make an epic cult movie; and “The Ape” (2009) that followed...

Matias Varela (Narcos) is set as a series regular opposite Travis Fimmel in Scott Free Productions’ straight-to-series sci-fi drama for TNT, which will mark Ridley Scott’s TV helming debut.
The series from writer-showrunner Aaron Guzikowski, Scott Free and Turner’s Studio T revolves around two androids tasked with raising human children on a mysterious virgin planet. As the burgeoning colony of humans threatens to be torn apart by religious differences, the androids learn that controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task.
Varela will play Lucius, a loyal soldier, who is trying to make up for the perceived failings of his father, a man whose sense of kindness and mercy were his ultimate undoing. Lucius is so committed to reversing his father’s legacy, that he devotes himself to serving the very man who executed him, a man he believes may be a savior to his people.

Goteborg — The 20th Nordic Film Market, held parallel to the Göteborg Film Festival, closed Sunday after three days of screenings and pitchings of 48 Nordic films and projects. Following, five key takeaways or trends:
Standout Nordic Brand Quality
An excellent crop, better than 2018, with a large diversity of content, catering to arthouse/mainstream as well as local/international audiences – these were prevailing reactions from international buyers and programmers polled yesterday in Göteborg. A senior A festival programmer – who asked to remain anonymous- even said: “Today the Nordics are perhaps the strongest region in Europe creatively across TV drama, feature and documentary film.”
Although most titles had already been snatched by the big Nordic sellers – TrustNordisk, LevelK, New Europe Film Sales, The Yellow Affair, Sf Studios – a dozen small offers in post, or in development at the Discovery section, still open for negotiations, made the Göteborg stop-over – fully worthwhile for the 25-plus sales reps in attendance.

The post-Harry Potter career of Daniel Radcliffe remains in full swing and has been an interesting ride filled with surprising project choices. His latest indie, Beast of Burden, a drama disguised as a thriller, sees him collaborating with arthouse-oriented Swedish director Jesper Ganslandt. Going in blind (without even reading the rather spoilerific synopsis) seems like the best course of action for Beast of Burden, since the story strives to reveal new layers that force viewers to reevaluate how they see Radcliffe’s character, Sean Haggerty. So, all we’ll say is Radcliffe portrays a former U.S. Air Force pilot, a man who begrudgingly finds himself smuggling drugs for the cartel. We had the opportunity to briefly chat with Radcliffe regarding his newest release. ScreenAnarchy: Taking a look...

Rotterdam’s opening film Jimmie is the most innovative project yet backed by Moving Sweden, a Swedish Film Institute initiative whose very DNA supports innovation.
Moving Sweden was launched in 2013 by Sfi film commissioner Andra Lasmanis to help Swedish filmmakers experiment with new formats and bold creative moves. Although it backs many new talents, Moving Sweden is also committed to supporting established filmmakers – like Jesper Ganslandt, who made Jimmie as his fourth feature.
The usual formats backed by Moving Sweden are 30, 45 or 60 minute films, or short series of 6-8 episodes of 12-15 minutes each. That’s where Jimmie is different, as it’s a full feature film of 91 minutes.
The Fasad-produced film, told through the perspective of a four-year-old boy, stars Ganslandt and his real-life son Hunter, as a father and son fleeing Sweden for a safer land during an unnamed...

From child wizard to drug runner, Daniel Radcliffe certainly has had a number of different roles in his career so far to try and shake off his Harry Potter persona. In his latest attempt, Beast of Burden, he plays a drug running pilot. Watch the trailer below.
Is it just us? judging by the trailer in which his supposedly last drop goes terribly wrong, he seems to be morphing into Justin Timberlake.
Directed by Jesper Ganslandt (The Ape) from a script by Adam Hoelzel, the film stars Pablo Schreiber (American Gods), and Grace Gummer (Mr. Robot) alongside Radcliffe.
The film will be in select Us cinemas, on VOD and Digital HD February 23, 2018.

Daniel Radcliffe has a new movie coming out called Beast of Burden from Swedish director Jesper Ganslandt. Radcliffe plays a pilot who is forced to deliver an illegal cargo of cocaine across the Us-Mexico border for his final run as a smuggler to save his wife. This looks like a solidly intense and unique thriller worth checking out. Radcliffe also tends to make movies that tell interesting stories.
The movie stars Grace Gummer, Pablo Schreiber and Renée Willett and this is the synopsis that was released:
Sean Haggerty (Radcliffe) only has an hour to deliver his illegal cargo. An hour to reassure a drug cartel, a hitman, and the DEA that nothing is wrong. An hour to make sure his wife survives. And he must do it all from the cockpit of his Cessna.
The movie will be released sometime in 2018. Check out the trailer and tell us what you think.

Post-Potter life has been fairly kind to Daniel Radcliffe.
From battling The Woman in Black to infiltrating a neo-Nazi sect in Imperium, not to mention the wholly irreverent Swiss Army Man, the former Boy Who Lived has consistently strayed outside his comfort zone in order to approach weird, wonderful, and often compelling roles. And Beast of Burden is yet another interesting feather in Radcliffe’s hat.
The film sees the actor playing Sean Haggerty, a “drug-running pilot who teams with the DEA to bring down the cartel on the promise of medical treatment for his ailing wife.” While it’s supposed to be his “last job,” things don’t go according to plan and he finds himself in an extremely tricky situation. It might be a bit of a generic premise, yes, but judging from this first trailer, which can be seen above, Radcliffe looks to have picked another...

"This isn't the plan! They re-routed me..." Momentum has unveiled a trailer for an indie drug thriller titled Beast of Burden, from Swedish filmmaker Jesper Ganslandt. The film stars Daniel Radcliffe as a pilot who must deliver an illegal cargo of cocaine across the Us-Mexico border for his final run as a smuggler to save his wife. Most of the film takes place in the cockpit following Radcliffe as he flies his Cessna across the border. The cast includes Grace Gummer, Pablo Schreiber and Renée Willett. This seems like it has some intense action scenes, with drones, helicopters, and guns. Crazy. Worth a look because it is so unique. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Jesper Ganslandt's Beast of Burden, direct from YouTube: Sean Haggerty (Radcliffe) only has an hour to deliver his illegal cargo. The fall is often perceived as the launch pad for awards season, as numerous prestige films compete for attention in the final weeks of the year. For much of the film community, however, it’s also the first major window into movies worth talking about next year. That’s because the Sundance Film Festival lineup typically drops in the middle of November, shaking up the holiday season with a mixture of familiar faces and newcomers who could make an impact in Park City this January. With programmers working in overdrive to complete the lineup in the coming weeks, and filmmakers praying to break through as the deadlines loom, we’ve cobbled together as much intel as we can for this extensive preview featuring dozens of promising titles that stand a good chance at making their way to Sundance this year. As usual, we’ve tried to avoid projects that are...

Ostlund screened about seven minutes from one scene of the new film, during which a controversial performance artist (played by Terry Notary) makes guests at a black-tie art gala very uncomfortable. “You know I love awkward situations,” the director said.
Goteborg’s audience of industry experts commented that they were impressed by the confidence of the unnerving scene, which showed Ostlund working on a bigger scale even than his last hit, Force Majeure.
At a festival session later for the public, Ostlund previewed a second clip from the film, in which a museum director (Claes Bang) delivers a self-centered video apology to a boy he had accused of being a thief.

Daniel Radcliffe will now be able to add "drug smuggler" to the list of characters he's played in the movies. He will play a drug smuggling pilot in an upcoming action-thriller called Beast of Burden, which is being directed by Swedish filmmaker Jesper Ganslandt.
According to THR, the story centers on Radcliffe's character as he runs drugs across the border while navigating and dodging the "Drug Enforcement Administration, the Cartel and others over the course of a day."
The movie sounds like it could be pretty intense. Radcliffe is always taking on crazy and different roles in films and it's always fun and interesting to see what he'll do next. A heroic wizard, an elusive magician, a flatulent corpse – we can now add drug-smuggling pilot to Daniel Radcliffe’s eclectic résumé, according to The Tracking Board, now that the British star has been tapped to headline indie thriller Beast of Burden.
Not to be confused with The Rolling Stones hit of the same name, Beast of Burden marks the English-language debut of Jesper Ganslandt, the Swedish director best known for The Ape and Blondie, along with a handful of shorts and documentaries. Adam Hoelzel is the brains behind the screenplay, one which finds Radcliffe in the role of Sean Haggerty, a seasoned pilot who risks his life and career by flying 55 pounds of cocaine across the border in a small plane. He’ll have to remain hidden from the prying eyes of both the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Cartel, which ought to lay the groundwork for a tense, nail-biting thrill ride.

Robert Pattinson out of ‘Mission: Blacklist’ movie (photo: Dane DeHaan and Robert Pattinson in ‘Life’) Robert Pattinson and Mission: Blacklist have parted ways. Pattinson, whose name had been attached to the project for two years — since Cannes 2012 — has reportedly dropped out due to scheduling issues. Now, what could those issues be? Well, Robert Pattinson, best known (at least for the time being) as the vampire Edward Cullen in the immensely popular Twilight movie franchise, has no less than two movies opening at Cannes 2014: David Michôd’s thriller The Rover, co-starring Guy Pearce, which will be shown as one of Cannes’ Midnight Screenings, and David Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars, also featuring Julianne Moore, John Cusack, Mia Wasikowska, and Carrie Fisher, and which is in the running for the Palme d’Or. There’s more: Robert Pattinson has recently completed work on Anton Corbijn’s Life, with Pattinson as photographer Dennis Stock,...

Actors like Robert Pattinson are sometimes the most interesting ones to watch as they go about crafting their career in Hollywood. Completely written-off as a legitimate talent due to his work on the Twilight series, the British thesp is now making most critics bite their tongues. With an impressive turn in Cosmopolis not too long ago, and lead roles in two very exciting upcoming films (David Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars and David Michod’s The Rover), the actor is starting to turn heads again.
Add to that a whole slate of in-development projects (Lost City of Z, Life, Queen of the Desert) that will solidify his status as a leading man even further, and Robert Pattinson is quickly becoming one of Hollywood’s most exciting young talents (I never thought I would write that sentence).

Robert Pattinson is having a hell of a year. The former “Twilight” star has two films appearing at Cannes 2014 – David Cronenberg’s “Maps To The Stars” and David Michod’s “The Rover.” His already-completed bucket list achievement includes working with Werner Herzog (“Queen of The Desert”), Anton Corbijn (“Life”) and his to-do list includes acting for auteurs like James Gray (“Lost City Of Z”), James Marsh ("Hold on to Me") and director/actor Brady Corbet (“The Childhood of a Leader”). But a busy plate often means something has to go by the wayside. So the Wrap is reporting that Pattinson has dropped out of the Saddam Hussein thriller “Mission: Blacklist.” A psychological thriller, the movie is a true story of military interrogator Eric Maddox on the hunt for the Iraqi leader, and the events that led him to uncover the wanted man in a spiderhole in Tikrit. This will likely come across as sacrilege, but my disinterest in Tim Burton has grown over the years starting somewhere around the time he gave us his last most ambitious project in Big Fish. Replacing Johnny Depp in favor of the alluring ensemble cast (might be another award mention-worthy turn from Amy Adams) the scaled down dramatic compelling bio-pic fare sees Burton once again work with the same scribes who gave us Ed Wood and additionally know how to write court-room scenes of high value as seen with The People vs. Larry Flynt.
