Anna David's novel Party Girl has been acquired by Niels Juul, an exec producer on Martin Scorsese's Silence and The Irishman.
The novel centers around a celebrity journalist who, after years of hard partying, gets sober only to be hired by a glossy magazine to write a column about her party-hopping lifestyle.
The story closely parallels the life of David, who has been sober for nearly two decades. "I got a job writing a column called 'Party Girl' for [the now defunct] Premiere [magazine] right when I got out of rehab," she says. "And most of the ...

Jemima Kirke has attended a few rehab facilities, but she doesn't consider herself an addict. The Girls star opened up to Anna David's podcast, Recover Girl, telling the host all about her struggles with alcohol and drugs. Despite needing treatment, Kirke told David that her partying ways didn't stem from a need to repress feelings but instead recognized it as a "tool." "I didn't relate to [AA's] psychic need for the alcohol. I recognized it as a tool and I know how to use it as a tool," she explained. "I'm not someone who drinks excessively but I will drink for a reason sometimes. It's a problem more than addiction. I think that's possible." Even now,...

About the films:
Over the past four decades, Belgian director Chantal Akerman (Jeanne Dielman, 23, quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles) has created one of cinema’s most distinctive bodies of work—formally daring, often autobiographical films about people and places, time and space. In this collection, we present the early films that put her on the map: intensely personal, modernist investigations of cities, history, family, and sexuality, made in the 1970s in the United States and Europe and strongly influenced by the New York experimental film scene. Bold and iconoclastic, these five films pushed...

-- "By Some Miracle I Made It Out of There," (Atria Books), by Tom Sizemore, with Anna David
The cover photo of Tom Sizemore's autobiography, "By Some Miracle I Made It Out of There," is a perfect introduction for what's to come.
The 51-year-old actor stands looking up at the camera, instantly recognizable because of his work portraying tough-guy characters in such memorable 1990s films as "Saving Private Ryan," "Heat" and "Natural Born Killers."
His face, though, looks worn, and his eyes are those of a man who's been to hell and back.
And that's exactly what his book details – Sizemore's ascent to the height of cinema, working for the Steven Spielbergs and with the Robert De Niros of the world – and his drug-fueled descent that left him imprisoned and out of options.
"I was a guy who'd come from very little and risen to the top," writes Sizemore,...

Tom Sizemore, now sober after a long struggle with drug addiction, has signed a deal with Atria Books to write a Hollywood memoir about his gritty past and path to redemption. Sizemore, known for his roles in such films as Natural Born Killers and Saving Private Ryan (as well as a stint on Celebrity Rehab), saw his acting career sidelined by a crippling addiction to heroin that eventually landed him in jail. He'll write about that, and more, with co-author Anna David in the book, scheduled for release in 2013. "He's a total softie who cries openly, he reads

Exclusive: Tom Sizemore, who went from the intense star of films like Heat and Saving Private Ryan to a cocaine and heroin addict whose addiction struggles and subsequent recovery played out on reality TV, has signed a memoir deal with Atria Books. He’ll write the book with Anna David and the pub date is 2013. The book will detail his rise from tough childhood in a Detroit housing project to his climb to the top in Hollywood and his eventual dark descent into drug addiction and back. Sizemore, who once romanced Elizabeth Hurley and Sharon Stone and whose performances in films from True Romance to Black Hawk Down elevated him from character actor to the star of his own TV series in Robbery Homicide Division, lost it all due to his substance-abuse struggles. At his lowest point, Sizemore was accused of domestic violence by Heidi Fleiss and traded a Beverly...

• Jesse Eisenberg, star of "The Social Network," makes a startling confession to Anna David: "Look, I don't have a Facebook page because I have little interest in hearing myself talk about myself any further than I already do in interviews or putting any more about myself online than there already is. But if I wasn't in this position, I'm sure I would use it every day." And he admits he identified with Mark Zuckerberg: "I'm uncomfortable in the same way Mark is. I can't watch myself in interviews. I feel like I look like a wreck. My mom is always calling me and going, 'Stop fidgeting,' and it's like, 'You have no idea what...
