Exclusive: Prison Break and Legends Of Tomorrow star Dominic Purcell is replacing the late Ray Stevenson in Paramount and Republic Pictures’ movie Cassino In Ischia, which is now back underway in Italy.
Production came to an abrupt halt in late May after lead actor Stevenson suffered sudden illness and was rushed to hospital where he passed away aged 58.
Purcell takes on the role of Nic Cassino, a former action star who is knocked off his perch by the next generation of action heroes. In an attempt to revive his career, he travels to Italy to make the first ever “Neo-Realist” action film with a down on his luck Italian director. When unresolved family struggles resurface, he is forced to reconcile all he left behind on his road to fame.

The series, which stars Emilia Fox as a British spy in Italy, has been renewed for Season 2 at AMC Networks’ Acorn TV.
It comes a year after the series launched three feature-length episodes. It is produced by ITV Studios-backed production company Route 24, which is behind Sky’s The Midwich Cuckoos.
Season 2 finds former British spy Sylvia Fox, played by Emilia Fox, even more deeply in love with Italy, and with life in the picturesque medieval town of Panicale. Hallmark has begun production on its first movie under the new Mahogany banner, titled “Unthinkably Good Things.” The film will star Karen Pittman.
The film, set to debut on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, sees a woman named Allison (Pittman) at a crossroads in her career and love life, in need of the love and support of her two friends Melina (Joyful Drake) and Reesa (Erica Ash). When they visit her in Tuscany, the reunion causes each woman to reexamine the state of her own life and relationships. While they have different personalities and perspectives, they know each other’s truths and help to make life-changing decisions. Jermaine Love and Lance Gross also star.

British actor Emilia Fox (“Silent Witness”) is set to star as a disillusioned U.K. spy who becomes a sleuth in Italy in “Signora Volpe,” a detective drama commissioned by AMC Networks’ Acorn TV that will start shooting in Italy in May.

Former Cinecittà Studios executive Cristina Giubbetti has been appointed by Gomorrah - La Serie producer Cattleya to lead a department dedicated to attracting, servicing, and potentially partnering with, international productions looking to shoot in Italy.
Giubbetti started out as sales manager for international productions at Cinecittà Studios. She then became responsible for the studio’s executive production services in 2011, working with international clients including MGM, Paramount, Universal, Canal+, HBO, Warner Bros and Disney.
