We know that a Booster Gold Max series is in the very early staged of development, but a recent rumor claimed that the project might be quite a bit further along than we realized.
According to the report, filming is scheduled for July, and the lead role has been cast - though there was no mention of which actor supposedly landed the part. Considering it's pretty much been radio silence on the show since it was first announced, this update seemed a little shaky, and DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn has now debunked the rumor.
The Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad director was asked if "the rumor that Booster Gold will be recorded on July 8th true? Will it be the next big Dcu series after Peacemaker Season 2 or will it be Amanda Waller's series" on his recent Ma and Pa Kent post, and responded: "Although...

DC Studios' "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters" slate left us with plenty to be excited about, but news of a Booster Gold TV series coming to Max was arguably among James Gunn's most thrilling announcements.
Fans have been waiting a long time to see the time-travelling superhero in live-action, and while Donald Faison briefly showed up in what would become Legends of Tomorrow's series finale following its cancellation, the character has yet to be given the chance to shine on screen (Eric Martsolf briefly played him in Smallville).
That will soon change, and all signs point to Xolo Maridueña's Blue Beetle joining the time-travelling superhero.
A recent Production List update suggested Booster Gold will start shooting in July. Now, scooper @MyTimeToShineH has chimed in, claiming that is indeed the case. Even more exciting, though, is the fact the character has supposedly been cast in the Dcu!

Walton Goggins has no limitations whatsoever when it comes to his range and skill in film and television. With boundless untapped energy serving as a cushion, the Fallout actor truly gives back to society by tackling multi-colored projects spanning various genres. One such project, however, came dangerously close to insulting the incredible talent and hard work of his director and co-stars in the HBO satire, Vice Principals. And Goggins refused to take such an insult lying down.
Vice Principals [Credit: HBO]Filmed in 2016, this American dark comedy series brings out Walton Goggins’ skills to deliver some of his career’s best moments. However, with enough time having passed between the series production and the political tides within Hollywood, the actor finally feels safe to take a stand on behalf of his co-stars and director to showcase how Hollywood failed them.

James Gunn is currently on a tight and hectic schedule working on both Superman and Peacemaker Season 2. With both hands full and timetable loaded, fans have felt deeply concerned about the filmmaker and the fate of the two projects.
John Cena in Peacemaker
The director addressed this query on his social media platform, and it seems he is devoting more time for Superman while still making visible progress on the Peacemaker sequel. It is a tough job to handle two different projects and develop them at the same time, but that seems to be the thrill and joy of it.

Going to the theater is different from it used to be. Back in my day, going to the cinema meant purchasing an overpriced ticket and concessions, then experiencing a film alongside a group of strangers in silence with occasional outbursts of laughter or surprise. Today, boutique theaters double as restaurants for outrageously priced pub-style food, with beer, wine, and cocktails to get you sauced for the evening’s feature presentation. Some people enjoy this kind of atmosphere. However, Danny McBride thinks serving food and drinks in cinemas is absurd, and he has an idea about improving the theater-going experience – marijuana!
Speaking with GQ magazine, Danny McBride said, “I hate it, I can’t stand it,” about serving dinner and drinks in the middle of a movie. “I also don’t think it makes sense to combine booze with movies. You’re going to have to piss. Doesn’t alcohol make...

Danny McBride has a bone to pick with movie theaters. With the popularization of theaters that now serve dinner and drinks in the middle of a movie, the “Eastbound & Down” and “Pineapple Express” comedian recently told GQ magazine that he is staunchly against the trend.
“I hate it, I can’t stand it,” McBride said while addressing the theaters-that-serves-dinner trend. “I also don’t think it makes sense to combine booze with movies. You’re going to have to piss. Doesn’t alcohol make you want to get up and get loose? You don’t want to sit there, drink beer, and just be quiet. I would have no interest in going to see a movie and just pounding IPAs. Just fucking falling asleep.”
A better idea, according to McBride, would-be movie theaters that offer marijuana and allow patrons to smoke pot. Movies and weed “go together fucking perfectly,” he said.

THR reports the period thriller will feature the undead, and potentially take place in Jim Crow-era South. While other details are under wraps, there are reports it will feature anime influences and has franchise potential. Production will kick off this April in New Orleans, so expect to learn much more soon.

The Safdies may be (temporarily) breaking up as directors, but the brothers are still a showbiz team. Josh and Benny Safdie have executive produced a new documentary limited series “Telemarketers” for HBO, it was announced Wednesday. The channel has set an August 13 premiere date for the series, in addition to releasing the official trailer.
“Telemarketers” focuses on two former telemarketing employees Pat Pespas and Sam Lipman-Stern, the latter of whom is credited as co-director of the series with Adam Bhala Lough. The series chronicles, with the assistance of footage shot by Limpman-Stern, the duo’s time working in the telemarketing industry during the early 2000s, when Limpman-Stern was a 14 year-old high school dropout and Pespas was a top salesman dealing with addiction issues. The two worked for a company that advertised itself as raising money for police and firefighter charities, but in reality pocketed most of the money.

Nicolas Cage will pick up this year’s Cheval Noir Career Achievement Award at Fantasia.
“He is one of the most individualistic and captivating screen presences in the last 40 years. Beyond his unique charisma, the kinds of atypical characters he’s been drawn to and what he can bring to them is so special and rare,” artistic director Mitch Davis told Variety.
“Audiences lose their minds when he goes to these energetically extreme places: ‘Vampire’s Kiss’ was my first experience with that and I was absolutely floored. But they are also transfixed by the quiet, textured qualities he brings to more somber characters. He’s a one-of-a-kind treasure in American film.”
Throughout the years, Cage has been embracing genre cinema, admitted Davis. And it has embraced him back.

Last month, HBO said goodbye to two of its signature series: “Succession,” a tale of three born billionaires vying to replace their aging patriarch; and “Barry,” an action comedy that unlocked new levels of ambition in its star-auteur, Bill Hader. Fans — and, one presumes, the network — were left with a vacuum the next seasons of “The White Lotus” and “House of the Dragon” are too far off to fill. Fortunately, a show that combines the best of both its erstwhile peers returns June 18 for a third season. “The Righteous Gemstones” remains consistent in its outrageous opulence and crude humor, but its latest chapter is unusually well timed.
Like “Succession,” “The Righteous Gemstones” follows a family poisoned by wealth and power at a crucial inflection point; like “Barry,” the show has a visual panache that defies our expectations for a half-hour comedy. But unlike either show, “The Righteous Gemstones” resists the...

Plot: When the spoiled Gemstone children finally get their wish to take control of the Church, they discover leadership is harder than they imagined and that their extravagant lifestyle comes with a heavy price.
Review: If you are still grieving the end of HBO’s marquee series about a filthy rich family vying for power and acting like assholes, rest assured that the cable network still has another series that fits that description. Danny McBride’s The Righteous Gemstones is back for a third season of hilarious hijinks of sacrilegious genius. While the second season of The Righteous Gemstones took things in a darker direction with insight into the youth of Eli Gemstone (John Goodman) with a downbeat ending, this new run is decidedly lighter with just as many dick jokes and brilliant insults. Led by the great Goodman, McBride, Edit Patterson, and Adam DeVine, The Righteous Gemstones’ third season...

HBO is bringing back its most beloved, ultra-rich adult children fighting for their family business. I’m talking, of course, about the Gemstones.

One of the long-beloved exercises in comic book fandom is picking out the dream movie versions of your favorite characters, and with the announcement of James Gunn's new "Superman" movie, the fancast wheels are spinning like mad. It's a major bummer that Henry Cavill, who played the Man of Steel in the DC Extended Universe, won't be back in the red cape and spandex for the new film, but since it's focusing on a much younger Clark Kent/Superman, it only makes sense to cast someone else. As Gunn and Peter Safran move away from the Dceu and form the new DC Universe (Dcu), they're going to have to recast a bunch of beloved characters, and it's probably good to rip the bandage off now. After all, we might end up with new versions of Wonder Woman, The Flash, or even Batman.

Quentin Tarantino isn't just one of our greatest living filmmakers, he's also one of the world's preeminent cinephiles. Whereas many directors try to keep their opinions to themselves, especially regarding recently released movies, Tarantino loves to sound off. He publicly shares his yearly top 10 lists, and uses every interview as an opportunity to talk about whatever movies happen to be on his mind at that particular moment. He also recently launched a podcast with his longtime buddy (and one-time Video Archives co-worker) Roger Avary, and published a book in which he holds forth on significant movies and directors.
Ever since Tarantino became a brand unto himself (around the time Miramax gave him a boutique distribution arm called Rolling Thunder Pictures), we quickly realized that his taste in movies is all over the place. He could champion an arthouse triumph like Wong Kar-wai's "Chungking Express," then turn around and re-release...

When it’s all said and done, historians may look back on 2022 as the year TV’s bubble finally burst. The industry’s collective reevaluation of streaming is already leading to tighter budgets and “moderated” spending. Networks that once competed in the originals space are now pretty much out of the game. Broadcast continues to bank on sports and reality TV. If these trends continue, the scripted TV count could recede to, well, not reasonable levels — we’re still facing hundreds of series every year for the foreseeable future — but perhaps an output that doesn’t feel quite so crushing.
Well, I’ll believe it when I see it. Despite market indicators, it’s hard to imagine a lighter load when you’re still climbing out from under an avalanche. 2022 is expected to set a record for scripted programming, driven in part by the Covid pandemic’s production bottleneck giving way,...

There’s a wonderful variety of comedies on TV. But whenever a show needs to be funny, there’s an opportunity for the camera to get involved in the telling of the joke. Whether it comes down to blocking and composition, movement, or shot scale, the camera can bring out an additional layer of humor and help inform the way we laugh at a series. IndieWire spoke to directors Randall Einhorn and Jody Hill about the ways in which their work, respectively, helps creates the context for genuinely warm humor on “Abbott Elementary” and the rich ridiculousness of “The Righteous Gemstones.”
Mockumentary, where the camera tries to approximate “finding” joke moments in real time through camera movements, zooms, in-camera adjusts, and interaction with the actors, is one of the more obvious models of visual comedy. But according to Einhorn, it’s really a means to embed the viewer with the...
