NBC4 was the big winner at the 66th Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards, taking home eight trophies, including investigative news reporting and news featuring reporting.
ABC7 won six statuettes, including light news story (single report) and information/public affair series (more than 50% remote).
The Television Academy held the awards ceremony Saturday night at the Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in North Hollywood.

Univision’s flagship Kmex-tv leads the list of stations vying for the 66th annual Los Angeles area Emmy Awards.
Kmex landed 20 noms, including bids for hard news reporting (for reporter Antonio Valverde), investigative reporting (for reporter Leon Krauze) and reporting on crime/social issues. Knbc-tv was second with 16 mentions, followed by Ktla (14), Kabc (13) and Telemundo’s Kvea (10). Time Warner Cable Deportes was the top cabler with 9 noms, tied with indie pubcaster Kcet.
Kmex is a contender in two of the top newscast races, for morning newscast (airing between 4 a.m.-11 a.m.), and daytime newscast (11 a.m.-7 p.m.). There are no nominations in the top three newscast categories, which include the category of late newscasts (7 p.m.-midnight); all stations that choose to enter in any of the three categories are considered in the final judging.

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has released its annual list of local Emmy nominations. NBCUniversal’s NBC4 is tops with 18 noms, followed by Univision’s Spanish-language outlet Kmex with 15. CW-affiliated KTLA5 is next with 13; ABC’s ABC7 and indie for PBS channel Kcet landed 12 each.
