The Matrix played a key role in reshaping the sci-fi landscape in Hollywood. It was one of the most influential sci-fi projects and established Keanu Reeves as one of the biggest action stars. The fans are in shock as Warner Bros. has announced a fifth installment in the franchise. Following the failure of The Matrix Resurrections, nobody expected them to take a risk with The Matrix 5.
Several reasons led to the downfall of The Matrix Resurrections, with one of the primary reasons being the absence of Hugo Weaving. Although Jonathan Groff played the role of Smith, it was nothing compared to Weaving’s charismatic aura as the Og antagonist. While the fans have started brainstorming the possibilities of the events for the fifth film, Weaving’s return is undoubtedly crucial.

The Matrix franchise is one of the major sci-fi franchises in cinematic history. The Wachowskis came out with the first movie back in 1999 and shocked the world with one of the most innovative stories in the world of sci-fi. Since then, the sisters have created two sequels together while Lana, alone, worked on the fourth film from the series, The Matrix Resurrections. And while not all of these movies were received with acclaim like the first one, The Matrix is undoubtedly a pillar of sci-fi cinema and one of the most important movies ever made.
And while the fourth movie seemingly teased an end for Neo and the story of The Matrix, the guys at Warner Bros. have different plans, as a fifth movie is in the works at the studio, although The Wachowskis won’t be coming back to direct it. Namely, as has been confirmed by the studio,...

The action franchise that made Keanu Reeves the highest-paid actor for a project is reportedly developing a fifth film. The Matrix franchise released three films in the late ’90s and early 2000s helmed by directors Lily and Lana Wachowski. A fourth film, The Matrix: Resurrections, was released in 2021, with only Lana Wachowski having directorial duties. As the franchise returns for a fifth planned film, neither of the Wachowski’s are returning to direct the film.
Keanu Reeves’ The Matrix franchise will continue with a fifth film being planned at WB
Fans are not sure about the fifth film, especially after the studio decided to appoint a new director. Drew Goddard, who created Daredevil for Netflix, will take over from the Wachowski’s. However, fans highly doubt that the lack of Wachowskis’ creative minds would help a fifth film.

Ready to see how much farther down the rabbit hole goes? A new chapter of The Matrix franchise is about to start, as the first film not directed by one the Wachowski siblings is now in the works. Currently known as The Matrix 5, the new movie has The Cabin In The Woods' Drew Goddard on board to write and direct this outing.
Lana Wachowski, who directed 2021's The Matrix Resurrections, is on board to executive produce this effort for Warner Bros.
Naturally, plot details are being withheld for now, nor do we know who from the films — including the likes of Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss – might be returning, if any. All Warners president of production Jesse Ehrman would tease is that the story will advance the established world without straying too far from what made the series a success.

The Matrix universe is expanding with a new movie helmed by Drew Goddard.
The writer and director, best known for his work on titles like The Martian, The Cabin in the Woods, and Netflix’s Daredevil series, will both direct the film and pen its screenplay. Goddard has plenty of experience with sci-fi, having gotten his start penning episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Lost.
Currently untitled, the project will be the first Matrix film to not directly involve creators Lana and Lilly Wachowski, though the former will serve as executive producer. Plot details are currently being kept under wraps, but it sounds like Goddard has a strong vision to extend the franchise.

San Francisco went green on Saturday evening as Lana Wachowski’s The Matrix Resurrections made its U.S. premiere at the city’s historic Castro Theater.
Naturally, Warner Bros. opted out of the standard red carpet for the event, in favor of a green one—with Mayor London Breed also getting in on the celebration of the film, which shot select scenes in San Francisco. “In honor of the Matrix Resurrection movie premiere tonight right here at our own Castro Theater, buildings across the city — including City Hall — will be participating in the Light San Francisco Matrix Green project!” she wrote on Twitter.

“Step back into the Matrix with this new poster for The Matrix Resurrections,” read the photo caption. “Watch it in theaters and on HBO Max* this Christmas. #TheMatrix.”
Resurrections is the fourth film in the iconic sci-fi franchise which comes 18 years after the release of the sequels The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, and 22 years after its launch with The Matrix.

Everyone’s favorite cat and mouse are taking their antics to New York City. Warner Bros. Pictures has unveiled a trailer for the upcoming “Tom and Jerry” movie, scheduled for a 2021 theatrical premiere.
While the titular characters are animated in similar styles as the original television show, the new film diverges from tradition with live actors and a real-world set. Chloë Grace Moretz stars as an event planner hired by a hotel to organize a wedding, but she’s also expected to remove a pesky mouse — Jerry — from his recent residence within the building’s walls.
Written by Kevin Costello and based on Joseph Barbera and William Hanna’s classic characters, “Tom and Jerry” revives the decades-old rivalry as Tom is enlisted to help remove Jerry from the premises before the date of the wedding arrives. Cartoon violence ensues as Tom contrives various schemes to sneak up on Jerry, only to fail on numerous occasions.

Warner Bros is putting the wheels in motion on new Father of the Bride movie, with Matt Lopez penning the script. This latest reboot will revolve around a Latinx family, a first for the franchise.
This marks the third retelling of the story that began with the Spencer Tracy original in 1950 and was most recently remade by Disney in 1991 starring Steve Martin. That film spawned a sequel in 1995.
The latest film will tell the story of a father coming to grips with his daughter’s upcoming wedding through the prism of multiple relationships within a big, sprawling Cuban-American family. It will be more of a rom-com than previous versions of film.
Sources say Lopez was inspired by his own cross-cultural nuptials and the many epic Cuban weddings he has attended, some of which he’s still recovering from.
Jesse Ehrman and Paul Perez will oversee for Warners.

Cue the falling pianos: Warner Bros.’ Wile E. Coyote movie, “Coyote vs. Acme,” is one step closer to the big screen, having secured director Dave Green.
Green will help develop the live action-animation hybrid, which is currently seeking a writer. Prior to that, he directed the cult animated film “Earth to Echo,” about a group of kids who come to the rescue of a visiting alien. Will Forte is set to voice the iconic character Shaggy in Warner Bros.’ animated Scooby-Doo film, titled “Scooby.”
Gina Rodriguez is also joining the voice cast as Velma.
Chris Columbus is on board as a creative producer with Tony Cervone directing the new project. Plot details are unknown other than the film revolving around the lovable dog and the Mystery Inc. gang.
Warners has been strengthening its animation slate since “The Lego Movie,” which coincided with the formation of Warner Animation Group in 2013. Allison Abbate was tapped to oversee the division and executives, including Jesse Ehrman and president of production Courtenay Valenti, and has made a big push to get classic titles like the Hanna-Barbera properties off the ground.
Matt Lieberman is penning the script. The studio, sources say, understands the history rooted in the Scooby-Doo characters, and wants to give them as much as attention as its DC and Harry Potter properties.
