German distributor and world sales company Kinostar has acquired Polish filmmaker Maria Sadowska’s erotic thriller “Temptation.”
Based on the bestselling novel by Edyta Folwarska, “Temptation” tells the story of young journalist Inez, whose assignment to cover soccer star Maks Wygoda leads her onto a dangerous journey.
“Temptation” was produced by Daniel Markowicz of Warsaw-based Lightcraft, who also produced and directed the recent hit Netflix actioner “Lesson Plan,” and executive producers Paulina Nowak and Anita Dabrowska.
“Maria and Daniel are extremely talented, and we are very happy to start working with Lightcraft on this movie, with hopefully many more to follow,” said Kinostar head Michael Roesch.

The October 1st deadline for all countries wanting into the Academy Award's foreign-language film category has come and gone. According to IndieWIRE [1], The United Kingdom, which has predominantly submitted Welsh films over the years (if submitting at all), has surprisingly chosen the documentary Afghan Star as its 2009 submission for the Academy Awards. - For the last two months, Turkey has been busy with festivals and awards and the most frequently named films were Nuri Bilge Ceylan's Three Monkeys and Autumn from helmer Özcan Alper. Three Monkeys has been released in several territories already (its U.S. debut begins May 1st) but Alper’s Autumn, a film that was admired on its home turf and has won several awards in local festivals is still looking to break out on the international scene. On the 22nd of February, the Turkish Film Critics’ Awards were handed out by Siyad. Autumn won for Best Film, and Ceylan took home Best Director. At the beginning of the month, the 2nd edition of the Yesilcam Awards (a prestigious, Oscar-like ceremony with 1500 people voting) delivered great news to Ceylan in the Best Film, Best Screenplay and Best Director categories. Autumn collected the First Film of a Director Award.
