That Dirty Black Bag premiered on AMC+ on March 10, 2022, and ran until with a season of eight episodes. July 26, 2022, marks the release of Season 1 on DVD and Blu-Ray.
Mauro Aragoni, Silvia Ebruel, and Marcello Izzo have created a faithful homage to the Spaghetti Westerns of Sergio Leone.
Though it will no doubt draw comparisons to Deadwood (that other popular Western television series), tonally, they feel very different.
That Dirty Black Bag borrows as much from the gore/horror genre as any type of Western -- spaghetti, revisionist, or otherwise.
An underlying plot centers around a mysterious cult that requires human sacrifice, with one such devotee having a literal mountain of skulls in his backyard.
Brian O'Malley and Mauro Aragoni take turns directing each of the season's eight episodes with craftsmanlike attention to detail, but the most magnificent work comes courtesy of cinematographer P.J. Dillon.

Preacher star Dominic Cooper and Douglas Booth, who starred in Netflix’s Motley Crue biopic The Dirt, are starring in spaghetti western drama series That Dirty Black Bag.
The series, which comes from Bron Studios and Italian producer Palomar, is currently in production in Italy, Spain and Morocco.
It is centered around the 8-day clash between Arthur McCoy, played by Cooper, an incorruptible sheriff with a troubled past, and Red Bill, played by Booth, an infamous, solitary bounty hunter known for decapitating his victims and stuffing their heads into a dirty black bag, because, as he puts it, “Heads weigh less than bodies.” The drama echoes and pays homage to the classic spaghetti western, capturing the genre’s legendary irony while revolutionizing it in a modern way and appealing to younger audiences. The gothic has always been the cornerstone and mainstay of horror film: that place that is supposed to be the most secure and welcoming - one's home - is suddenly dangerous and uninviting. Irish director Brian O'Malley (Let Us Prey) returns to these horror roots for an update on gothic tropes with a healthy infusion of social-historic drama. Twin siblings Rachel (Charlotte Vega) and Edward (Bill Milner) live in an isolated mansion in the Irish countryside (the ancestral home of their English forebearers who arrived from the UK). They have to follow certain rules in order to keep strange monsters at bay. Reaching their 18th birthday, Rachel starts to chafe against this confinement; on top of this, their solicitor Bermingham (David Bradley) says they are...

Loftus Hall, the haunted house where The Lodgers was shot
Twin siblings isolated in a crumbling mansion deep in the Irish countryside. A sinister presence watching them, stealing a little closer every night. Dark secrets, a curse, and unexpected romance. The Lodgers is a chilling slice of old fashioned Gothic horror, and it's one of the offerings at this year's Glasgow Film Festival. I asked director Brian O'Malley if he approached it as part of the recent genre revival.
"I'm a longstanding fan of Gothic period ghost stories," he tells me. "I discovered The Innocents - you know the 1962 film - when I was in my late teens. I always found that type of horror to be about mood and tone and what's implied rather than what's obvious to the camera. I liked some of the more recent film like The Others, The Orphanage and The Devil's Backbone. I find it a really.

"Every sound the house makes, I hear them..." Epic Pictures has unveiled a new official trailer for the Irish gothic horror film called The Lodgers, following up the first trailer that debuted last year when this film was premiering at film festivals in the fall. Set in 1920s, the story is about twins Rachel and Edward who share a strange existence in their crumbling family estate. Each night, the property becomes the domain of a sinister presence ("The Lodgers") who enforces three rules upon the twins: they must be in bed by midnight; they may not permit an outsider past the threshold; if one attempts to escape, the life of the other is placed in jeopardy. Sounds pretty creepy. Starring Charlotte Vega, Bill Milner, David Bradley, and Eugene Simon. This looks like a solid thriller and it got some good reviews at the festivals. Might be worth a watch. While most horror films of today struggle to out-shock one another, thankfully there are still auteurs like director, Brian O'Malley (Let Us Prey), who delight in a slower, more gracefully paced approach to eeriness. Like a rich work of gothic literature, O'Malley's The Lodgers weaves a tale of dark ancestry and a damning heritage inflicted upon two innocents, nestled in the woods outside the view of prying townsfolk eyes. Set in rural-Ireland of the 1920s, The Lodgers coops two twin teenagers, Rachel and Edward (played by Charlotte Vega and Bill Milner) inside an awe-striking mansion, withering with decay and neglect. Gone are the caretakers and parental figures who bestowed life and education onto the enfants-terribles. All that remains is a sinister presence that haunts their...

Only a few days after playing to a crowd of 6,500 at the San Diego comic book convention, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World director Edgar Wright and stars Michael Cera and Anna Kendrick arrived in Seattle for only about 15 hours to talk to press before jetting off once again to Los Angeles. Luckily, myself and Laremy Legel writing for Film.com had a chance to sit with the trio to discuss their new movie out this Friday, August 13.
Based on Brian O'Malley's graphic novel series of the same name, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is a busy body visual feast of action, comedy and young love. To say the film is fun is an understatement. To say the interview was an absolute blast would be spot on.
I debated on whether I should break this up into a narrative style or just stick with the transcript and...

I'm drawing a line in the sand right now: I'm going to be one of the promoters of this movie. Whatever Universal wants me to do to promote Scott Pilgrim or the live-action adaptation of Brian O'Malley's comic - "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World," I will do it.It's one of those movies I probably can't be objective about, nor do I want to be objective about it, because it has the potential to show me something that I haven't seen before on screen. Not only that, but the cast supporting Michael Cera (Scott) and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Ramona) is a cast of up-and-comers. Back with this was shot, Aubrey Plaza wasn't known from "Parks & Recreation," Chris Evans wasn't Captain America, Anna Kendrick was on the cusp with her performance in "Up In The Air," and fellow Nyu Alumni Nelson Franklin wasn't waiting to launch his comedy pilot on Fox.
