NEW YORK - Josh Landis and Mitch Butler, creators of the online animated news series "The Quick Draw" on ABC.com, joined CBS News on Monday.
The duo will produce a similar version of the three to five-minute interstitials called "The Fast Draw" that will air on a variety of CBS news broadcasts including "The Early Show" and "CBS News Sunday Morning".
Landis, a veteran news writer and producer who was the head writer for ABC's "World News With Charles Gibson", will also serve as a correspondent for CBS Newspath, the network's 24/7 satellite newsgathering service for its stations and international broadcast clients.
"The Fast Draw" will explore and explain the major stories of the day using a combination of live action and cartoons, CBS said. "We're always looking for new ways to help our viewers understand the increasingly complex -- and sometimes confounding -- world around us," said Paul Friedman, senior vp, news coverage CBS News. "Josh and Mitch do that in a unique and informative way that will complement the strong reporting of our anchors and correspondents."
Landis was also a writer for ABC's "World News Tonight with Peter Jennings," head writer of weekend "World News" and a writer for "Good Morning America". In addition, he served as a producer/writer for CNN and an associate producer for Fox News Channel.
