Blumhouse revealed a new motion logo this weekend, on the company’s film, “The Black Phone,” which opened to 23.6M domestically. The new logo preceded the film and is the company’s first ever update to its motion logo.
“Our new logo is a fun tribute to our Blumhouse films and television series, and I’m curious to see if our fans can spot all the hidden symbols we’ve included throughout,” said Blumhouse CEO and Founder Jason Blum. “I’m thrilled we unveiled it with Scott Derrickson’s The Black Phone, so fans saw the new logo on the big screen.” Read our review Here.
“The original Blumhouse logo holds a special place for horror fans like me, so we wanted to honor that legacy while creating something new. This new logo pays tribute to the original version and incorporates a lot of fun Easter eggs...

Here’s some spooky news just in time for Halloween! According to our sources – the same ones who told us the leads of Ghostbusters 3 would be young teens and that a Swamp Thing movie is in development, both of which have since been confirmed – Blumhouse is working on a new horror anthology series for Amazon. The show is reportedly being produced by both Jason Blum’s team and Priyanka Chopra, who also may star, while the episodes themselves will be based on Indian horror tales.

Netflix programming head Ted Sarandos wants to win Oscars. Netflix does fine in the nominations department, this year adding to their short and feature documentary Oscar nominations a record 112 Emmy nods (beating HBO); in 2018, it received four Oscar narrative nominations for Dee Rees’ “Mudbound.” Needless say, global streamer Netflix isn’t in the theatrical business (any theater bookings to date have been to please filmmakers), but Oscar contention adds enormous heft to any title. It’s all about luring more top talent to the service, which reaches 130 million subscribers in over 190 countries around the world.
On Wednesday, Netflix saw the New York Film Festival embrace Alfonso Cuaron’s 70 mm black-and-white Mexican drama “Roma” as its October 5 Centerpiece Gala (after presumably debuting at Venice). Perhaps even more important to the company’s Oscar future was the news that heavyweight Oscar strategist Lisa Taback would be joining the staff as vice president of talent relations,...
