R&B singer Lou Ann Barton was born in Fort Worth, TX, in 1954. She moved to Austin, TX, in the early 1970s and began getting gigs in the city's bars and music clubs. She performed with
The Fabulous Thunderbirds,
Roomful of Blues,
Stevie Ray Vaughan and
Double Trouble.
She recorded her first album, "Old Enough", on Asylum in 1982, but even though it was produced by
Jerry Wexler and
Glenn Frey, it went nowhere. In 1986 she recorded the album "Read My Lips", featuring such guests as
Jimmy Vaughan,
Kim Wilson and
David 'Fathead' Newman Jr.. In 1990 she released "Dreams Come True" on Antone's.
