Domhnall Gleeson, Dominic Cooper, Idris Elba and more have responded to their names being thrown into the 12th Doctor hat...
After the initial flurry of "Pick me, Nigel!" self-promotion and teasing from a few potential Twelfth Doctors (and er, a few with less potential), a handful of names has persisted.
There was Ben Daniels for a start, then Rory Kinnear, the latter announced as having been offered the role by last weekend's Telegraph. The Skyfall actor's agent, no doubt delighted with the publicity either way, has neglected to comment, unlike theatre director Fiona Laird who announced on Twitter last Sunday, "By the way, #doctorwho fans, I have it on the Highest authority that Rory Kinnear's agent has not received one single call about it."
There was also a story narrowing the choice down to three fine actors: Domhnall Gleeson (ginger! It must be true!

Rory Kinnear has allegedly been offered the lead role in Doctor Who when Matt Smith bows out at the end of the year.
A Daily Telegraph source claims to have learned that the 35-year-old Skyfall actor has been approached for the part, despite executive producer Steven Moffat insisting that the BBC is yet to choose a 12th Doctor.
The source said: "He has been offered the part and we are waiting to hear if he will accept. He is the perfect choice."
When Kinnear - who has starred as MI6 officer Bill Tanner in the two latest James Bond films - was asked about his possible involvement with the BBC series in April, he claimed that he doesn't even watch the programme.
"I think I'm being used as a decoy on that front. It's the first I've heard," he said.

Steven Moffat has denied that there will be a Doctor Who announcement today (June 8).
It had been rumoured that the next Doctor would be unveiled today after Matt Smith announced his departure from the show earlier this month.
TV producer and director Ed Stradling tweeted: "Steven Moffat says this morning, 'I haven't a clue who it is, we've barely started'."
The BBC also wrote on its official Doctor Who Twitter: "We can confirm there is no #DoctorWho announcement planned for today."
It was previously claimed by Starburst Magazine that its sources have come up with three names who could potentially play the Time Lord.
Domhnall Gleeson, Daniel Kaluuya and Dominic Cooper are all thought to be in the frame for the role.

Saturday 11Am: The official Doctor Who Twitter account has denied the report, saying: "We can confirm there is no #DoctorWho announcement planned for today." BBC One also confirmed no announcement.
Meanwhile, TV producer and director Ed Stradling tweeted: "Don't believe what you read about the new Doctor Who being announced this weekend. I think it must be Starburst getting a bit over-excited! Steven Moffat says this morning 'I haven't a clue who it is, we've barely started.' So no Doctor Who announcement this evening I fear!"
Saturday 1Am: The BBC is reportedly set to announce who will be playing the new twelfth incarnation of The Doctor in "Doctor Who" on Saturday night.
Starburst reports that a national Sunday paper has discovered the identity of the actor, forcing the British broadcaster to make their announcement earlier than planned. A photoshoot has apparently already taken place.

Steven Moffat claims Russell T. Davies has turned down offers to return to 'Doctor Who'. The sci-fi franchise's showrunner has extended several invitations to the screenwriter to pen an episode for the show, but Steven believes Russell wants a ''nice long rest'' from being involved with the popular BBC drama series from 2005 to 2010. In an interview with TV producer Ed Stradling, Steven said: ''I do keep asking him [to write a new episode]. The offer is continually made and I'm getting nowhere!'' Although Russell has not expressed interest in returning, Steven would welcome his friend back ''like a shot'' as he...

Despite making him continual offers, Steven Moffat says that Russell T.Davies is unlikely to return to writing Doctor Who...
In the wonderful Ed Stradling interview with Steven Moffat that did the rounds yesterday, a number of interesting questions were posed to the Doctor Who showrunner. How long is Matt Smith's tenure likely to be? Answer: until the end of time. What's your least favourite self-penned episode? Answer: The Beast Below. And your favourite? Answer: Not Blink, not The Empty Child, but The Big Bang...
One of the most interesting though, was the question of how likely it was that Russell T. Davies would ever return to writing on Who, and this is what Moffat said:
"I do keep asking him, seriously, could you imagine I don't? I get really resentful if I hear that he's written anything that is even vaguely around...

The current Doctor Who showrunner is going nowhere, as Steven Moffat confirms he's started to plan series eight...
We'll keep this short and sweet. Ed Stradling, Doctor Who and documentary powerhouse, interviewed Steven Moffat at the Gallifrey One 2013 convention in La this weekend.
The fourteen-minute chat took in the return of old foes and fan favourites, the logistics of making the fiftieth anniversary episode in 3D, how keen Moffat is for Russell T. Davies to guest-write an episode, how long Matt Smith will stay in the role ("Forever, for the rest of time"), the showrunner's least and most favourite self-penned episodes, and why The Big Bang was given that title.
During the interview, Moffat confirmed that he'd "just starting planning the next series", meaning we shouldn't expect another showrunner changeover in the near future.
Oh, and look out for a Twitter question supplied by...
