It looks like there is more bad news in store for Marvel fans and fans of Captain America. After extensive reshoots and cutting away major scenes, Captain America: Brave New World still seems to have issues. The Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford starrer has been in the making since 2022 and will be released on February 10, 2025.
The film is set to build on the events of the Disney Plus series Falcon and the Winter Soldier, with Mackie’s Sam Wilson taking over the mantle of Captain America. The film recently debuted some footage at CinemaCon which showed Ford’s Thaddeus Ross as well. However, industry insider Jeff Sneider mentioned that all was not good in the movie.

The Captain America: Brave New World star, Anthony Mackie, recently stated that the long-overdue sequel is hoping to offer a “clear reset” for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s currently chaotic creative direction. Presumably, this aims to maintain the franchise’s reputation amidst its continuous quality decline.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly after Marvel’s first official screening of movie footage at 2024 CinemaCon, the Brother to Brother actor offered his viewpoint on his first full appearance as the Star-Spangled Avenger. As the MCU prepares for a major reset following the events of Avengers: Endgame, fans have high hopes for seeing how Mackie’s Captain America shapes the franchise’s future.

Marvel Studios, led by Kevin Feige, has been relatively quiet lately. But at CinemaCon 2024, they made a big splash by revealing several minutes of brand-new footage from one of their upcoming big-budget films. Not content to just tease the audience with Deadpool & Wolverine clips, Feige introduced Anthony Mackie to CinemaCon attendees to offer a sneak peek at Captain America: Brave New World.
Subsequently, Mackie, 45, took the stage to unveil the first look at the forthcoming movie directed by Julius Onah. Feige claimed the movie would be more “grounded” than the miniseries The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021).

Disney is bringing more than emotional teenagers to CinemaCon 2024, with Marvel Studios ready to unleash superheroes on an already riled-up crowd. In addition to teasing the audience with footage from Deadpool and Wolverine, an F-bomb-dropping Kevin Feige introduced Anthony Mackie to give CinemaCon a taste of Captain America: Brave New World.
Before covering the CinemaCon stage with stars and stripes (metaphorically), Feige added that production on Fantastic Four will start in a few months and confirms that the title of Thunderbolts* does include an asterisk. As for why that is, Feige isn’t about to spill the beans. “We don’t tell you any more about that until the film comes out,” he said. What the hell does that mean? We’ll need to wait to find out.

New-ish Cap, same old shield.
Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson steps into his own as the star-spangled Avenger in the first look at “Captain America: Brave New World” that Disney shared during its CinemaCon presentation on Thursday. It sees the newly-minted Captain America saving Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, the president of the United States, from a group of brain-washed assassins. The action-packed scene finds Wilson engaged in hand-to-hand combat, while dodging bullets as he desperately tries to rescue the leader of the free world from a daring attack on the White House.
The first look at the Marvel movie also showed Wilson getting an offer from Ross that he might not be able to refuse. “I want Captain America to help me rebuild the Avengers,” the President tells the patriotic superhero.
The sequel picks up after the events of the Disney+ streaming series, “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Kevin Feige and Anthony Mackie traveled to Las Vegas to introduce Captain America: Brave New World, the Marvel Studios movie that puts the actor in the starring role.
Feige called back to Captain America: The Winter Soldier as something fans still talk about, because it was a relatively grounded action thriller. He said Cap 4 would follow that tradition and showed a new clip.
Mackie has played hero Sam Wilson since 2014’s The Winter Soldier and appeared in multiple Marvel movies before headlining his own series, the Disney+ show Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which bowed in 2021. It told the story of Sam coming to grips with the idea of him becoming Captain America as a Black man in America after his friend Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) retires.

Fanboys will have to wait until San Diego Comic Con to see footage from Marvel Studios’ 2025 release Captain America: Brave New World, but exhibitors do not. On Thursday during Disney’s closing CinemaCon session, the studio showed off the new Anthony Mackie movie that picks up after the events of the 2021 Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. In that series, Sam Wilson takes over the shield left behind by the late Steve Rogers (Chris Evans).
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige called the film “a grounded politically thriller” onstage of Caesars Palace at the Colosseum before introducing Mackie.
Mackie shared how he started in these movies 10 years ago, and loved how he’s now “starring in my own Marvel movie.” Mackie didn’t delay and introduced the footage.
In the clip, Harrison Ford’s Potus wants Sam Wilson to rebuild the Avengers. He’s impressed what the hero did down in Mexico.

Anthony Mackie has been a stalwart of the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever since debuting as Sam Wilson/Falcon in 2014’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” The actor’s superhero tenure has included “Avengers” movies and the Disney+ series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Now, Mackie is taking on the mantle of Captain America in the upcoming theatrical tentpole “Captain America: Brave New World.”
While promoting his latest series “Twisted Metal” in the United Kingdom, Mackie compared the project to his experience making Marvel movies and told Radio Times there was a lot more storytelling freedom to be had outside of the MCU.
“I would say the Marvel thing is completely different, just because it’s such a space of controlled entertainment. Like, there’s only so much you can do,” Mackie observed. “There’s only so much creativity you can bring to the table, because Stan Lee gave us so much content.

Fans were curious about what was in store for the Winter Soldier when Sebastian Stan’s character, Bucky Barnes, was prominently absent from the recent announcement of Julius Onah’s Captain America 4. However, a new theory suggests that his absence from the upcoming flick may allow Bucky Barnes to fully embrace his Wakandan superhero identity.
Despite the disappointment that Bucky was left out of Captain America: Brave New World, the decision actually makes sense. Well, Captain America 4 perfectly justifies his absence, as he moves from a supporting role to a more significant one (White Wolf) in Thunderbolts.
Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes
Bucky Barnes has spent more than a decade in the MCU, but aside from becoming the Winter Soldier and ultimately breaking free from Hydra’s hold, he has not undergone much growth.
Not to be overlooked, though, is Stan’s cameo as Barnes in Black Panther’s (2018) post-credits scene,...

Tim Blake Nelson is excited about his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time since 2008 when he played Samuel Sterns / The Leader in The Incredible Hulk. The Leader returns to the MCU in Captain America: Brave New World, which sees Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson picking up the shield after Steve Rogers passed the torch. The Incredible Hulk ended with Sterns undergoing his transformation into The Leader, and Nelson says his look in the new film could be more comics-accurate.
After an accident at a chemical plant exposed Sterns to high levels of radiation, his skin turned green, and his head became enlarged alongside his brain. After dying and returning to life several times, the Leader becomes obsessed with the afterlife and an object called the Green Door, “a metaphysical barrier that connects the Below-Place, the bottom layer of the Multiverse, even below the deepest layer of Hell,...

Marvel Studios has added screenwriter Matthew Orton to the production of “Captain America: Brave New World,” ahead of the superhero sequel’s plans for additional photography sometime in the spring.
The Walt Disney Company announced a series of delays to its theatrical release slate shortly after the conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA strike. Along with “Deadpool 3,” “Thunderbolts” and “Blade,” “Brave New World” was among the group of Marvel productions impacted, moving from a July 26, 2024 date to Feb. 14, 2025. That’s almost seven more months for the studio to work on the fourth “Captain America” film, which had already completed principal photography prior to the actors strike. Reshoots are a commonplace practice for blockbuster tentpoles, particularly Marvel productions.
Orton’s previous credits include the World War II thriller “Operation Finale” and TV work on “Devil’s Peak” and Marvel’s Disney+ series “Moon Knight.” Dalan Musson and Malcolm Spellman have screenplay credits...

Superhero movies are ubiquitous at this point, and the biggest name in the game is Marvel. Not just any Marvel, mind you, but Marvel Studios. Starting with 2008’s “Iron Man,” Marvel Studios and its now-president Kevin Feige started experimenting with the idea of telling one long, interconnected story over multiple movies with different lead characters, crossing over from time to time – just like in the comics. That experiment proved successful with 2012’s “The Avengers,” and it’s been hit after hit ever since.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to grow, even in the wake of the conclusive nature of 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame,” and it can be hard to keep track of what’s coming down the pike. Below, we’ve assembled a list of every confirmed MCU movie currently in the works, when it’s coming out, who’s in it, and what we know about each project so far.

Marvel have overhauled their release schedule for 2024/25.In the wake of the Hollywood strikes coming to an end, a number of box office moves have been made, with 'Deadpool 3' being pushed back from 3 May 2024 to 26 July, which had originally been pencilled in for 'Captain America: Brave New World'.While it had been predicted the two films would simply swap release dates as 'Captain America: Brave New World' had made more progress than 'Deadpool 3', with director Shawn Levy only completing 50% of the work on the latter, that is not the case and instead Julius Onah's Anthony Mackie-starring film won't hit screens until 14 February, 2025.That shift has then required 'Blade' to move from Valentine's Day to 7 November, 2025.In addition, Marvel's 'Thunderbolts', which hasn't even begun production yet, has been moved from 20 December next year to 25 July the following year.And...

Last year, Under the Shadow‘s Babak Anvari signed on to direct a new Cloverfield sequel from a screenplay by iBoy writer Joe Barton. It's the Circle of Life: Disney keeps returning to the same well over and over until it runs dry, at which point the studio is forced to innovate again. After a decade of raking in billions of dollars by remaking its beloved animated features as either live-action/CGI hybrid films or animated films with photorealistic CGI, the House of Mouse has finally started to see a slowdown on that front, with the 2023 version of "The Little Mermaid" falling well short of the box office heights scaled by the previous re-imaginings of Disney Renaissance classics. Of course, this particular money-printing machine isn't about to break down overnight, as several more re-tellings are making their way down the assembly line as we speak.
Along with live-action takes on "Snow White," "Lilo & Stitch, and "Moana," Disney is also working on "Mufasa: The Lion King," an extension of its 2019 computer-animated (I said what I...

Exclusive: Actress Liv Tyler has signed with CAA.
The move comes just a few months after the conclusion of principal photography on Captain America: Brave New World, the superhero flick marking her return to the MCU which will have her reprising her role as scientist Betty Ross.
Tyler first played the part in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk and stars here opposite Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, Tim Blake Nelson, Shira Haas, and Harrison Ford. A continuation of Disney+’s miniseries The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which saw Mackie’s Sam Wilson assume the mantle of Captain America, the film directed by Julius Onah is currently scheduled for release July 26, 2024.

It’s been over four years since Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, the original Captain America, passed his iconic shield to his friend and teammate Sam Wilson. The ending of ‘Avengers: Endgame’ gave Steve Rogers a happy ending and opened the way for Anthony Mackie’s Falcon to become the next Captain America. However, as we’ve seen in 2021’s ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,’ Sam initially refused to take the shield but ultimately decided to become Steve Rogers’ successor after it became obvious that the US government wouldn’t let the shield stay in the museum.
The six episodes of the ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ series on Disney+ depicted Sam Wilson’s transition from Falcon to a new Captain America. After a decade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Anthony Mackie’s superhero career is coming full circle as he’s set to spearhead “Captain America: Brave New World” following Chris Evan’s exit at Captain America at the end of “Avengers: Endgame.” While Mackie is stepping into the title role for the first time, he said the experience of making “Captain America 4” felt familiar.
“It kind of brought my Marvel experience full circle because we shot in D.C. at the same hotel that we shot ‘Winter Soldier’ at,” the actor told TheWrap during an interview conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike. “One of my first Marvel scenes was me sitting at a table talking to the senator and me and Chris [Evans] and Scarlett [ Johansson] kidnapping him and we go back and we stay at the same hotel and we shot at that same area. Seemingly over before it had even started, Kyle Bradstreet’s Secret Invasion has rolled the credits on its six-episode miniseries. Pitched as the long-awaited Nick Fury standalone for Samuel L. Jackson’s Marvel Cinematic Universe staple, we were warned this would only loosely adapt the 2008 comic arc of the same name. Still, did anyone expect things to go down quite like that?
With just six episodes and an average runtime of 40 minutes, critics feel that things were rushed toward “Home.” Rounding off the stories of Fury, Gravik (Kingsley Ben-Adir), and G’iah (Emilia Clarke), as well as shoehorning in Super Skrulls And setting up Nia DaCosta’s The Marvels and Julius Onah’s Captain America: Brave New World was a lot for just 38 minutes (including credits).
With the writers throwing the kitchen sink at the Secret Invasion finale, it makes sense that a seemingly glaring plot hole slipped through the net.

“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” will be the last time Harrison Ford dons a fedora and bullwhip to play the iconic adventurer, but fans will still have plenty of opportunities to see him on the big screen.
The actor is diving straight into another blockbuster Disney franchise by joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, the role previously played by the late William Hurt. Ford will make his debut as the character in next summer’s “Captain America: Brave New World” before suiting up again in “Thunderbolts” next December.
Few Hollywood projects are bigger than a Marvel movie, but even Ford’s superhero co-stars found themselves intimidated by his movie star gravitas. In an interview with Inverse, Anthony Mackie recalled his nerves about working with Ford and the fittingly nonchalant way that the “Star Wars” legend put him at ease.

Los Angeles, July 2 (Ians) Hollywood actor Anthony Mackie shared that he was very nervous to shoot opposite Harrison Ford on their first day of filming ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ that he forgot the script.
Marvel’s upcoming fourth ‘Captain America’ movie finds Mackie’s Sam Wilson stepping into the title role for the first time in a feature film, reports Variety.
Ford is a new addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, replacing the late William Hurt as Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross.
“The first day was so intimidating,” Mackie told Inverse. “I was so fucking nervous I couldn’t remember my lines. He’s Harrison f****** Ford. There is this aura about him. But he dispels that really quickly because he’s such a cool guy. He’s everything a movie star should be. He would say, ‘Let’s shoot this piece of shit.’ And everybody was like, ‘Yeah, let’s...

Way back when, during the production of the first “Star Wars,” Harrison Ford once joked to director George Lucas, “George, you can type this shit, but you can’t say it!”’
“Of course, that’s the year he gets nominated for an Oscar for Best Screenplay [for ‘Star Wars’ itself]. What do I know, right?” Ford said during an AFI tribute to Lucas in 2005.
For Malcolm Spellman, Dalan Musson, and Julius Onah, the writers currently credited on “Captain America: Brave New World,” they can only hope history repeats itself.

Anthony Mackie is calling out Hollywood conglomerates amid a potential SAG-AFTRA strike on the heels of the WGA’s own.
Since early May, the Writers Guild of America has placed a work-halt order for union members due to negotiations for fair wages and in response to the threat of A.I. entering writers’ rooms. The Directors Guild reached a deal with the AMPTP to avoid a strike; however, SAG contract negotiations in response to AI and streaming residuals are still underway.
“It’s a shit show if we go on strike,” Mackie told Inverse, noting the only way to move forward is to find a fair deal between studios and the Guild. “They’re going to have to. Unless they get a bunch of fucking YouTubers to make ‘Avengers 5’!”
The MCU actor continued, “Once the studios went public and were bought out by major companies, we were fucked. It’s no longer about art.

"Captain America 4" now has a new name. Originally titled "Captain America: New World Order," the movie is now "Captain America: Brave New World." Whether the new movie will pay tribute to Aldous Huxley's classic 1932 sci-fi novel "Brave New World" remains to be seen, and reps for Disney did not respond to Popsugar's request for comment about the change.
Anthony Mackie, who stars as hero Sam Wilson, announced the news on his Instagram on June 6. "When Harrison Ford tells you how kicking ass should look, you listen!" he wrote in the caption. "LoL… Thanks for the on set wisdom and laughs my friend! Can't wait to do it again… Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World in theaters May 3, 2024." However, shortly after Mackie shared that post, Marvel pushed back the film's release by two months.

A first-look pic has dropped for the latest Captain America installment thanks to Marvel Studios post on Twitter. Originally titled Captain America: New World Order, has now been changed to Captain America: Brave New World.
Back in August 2021, Deadline broke the story that Anthony Mackie would be picking up the mantle of Captain America in the latest phase of the MCU. Deadline then reported in October 2022 that Harrison Ford was joining the Marvel film as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. The fourth Captain America pic will be scripted by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson (both writers from Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), and directed by Julius Onah.
Known as Sam Wilson aka Falcon (Mackie), the films follow the comic lore of the character becoming the new Captain America. In the comics, General Ross has been a staple since the 1960s and is the reason the team of misfit heroes The Thunderbolts exists.

The New World Order has fallen. We’re now in a Brave New World. Since the announcement of a fourth Captain America film, with Anthony Mackie‘s Sam Wilson in the lead, fans have had one nagging concern: that subtitle.
To the uninformed, there’s nothing terribly wrong with Marvel calling its movie Captain America: New World Order. After all, the movie will deal with the Leader and the Serpent Society establishing a secret government, causing trouble on the world stage. However, the phrase has been used by Right Wing conspiracy theorists in the U.S., often with racist and explicitly anti-Semitic views. While Marvel likely did not mean to invoke these ideas, there’s no denying that the title may have put a damper on the first movie starring a Black Captain America for some.
So it’s quite a relief to see the latest set photos from the film,...

Captain America 4 has a new moniker.
Marvel Studios announced Tuesday morning via its Twitter account that the fourth Captain America installment — and the first to feature star Anthony Mackie as the lead — is now called Brave New World.
The news came alongside a behind-the-scenes photo of stars Mackie and Harrison Ford. Last July, the studio announced the film was originally subtitled New World Order. The release date has been set for May 3, 2024.

With just a single, relaxed, behind-the-scenes pic posted on Instagram by Anthony Mackie, everything changes for Captain America’s next big-screen MCU outing. Formerly known as New World Order, the fourth Cap movie will now proudly bear the title Brave New World, as shown on the back of the chairs in Mackie’s on-set snap. At first glance it’s a superficial change, but it’s probably a sensible idea to move away from a phrase thrown around by George Bush Sr in the ‘90s and embrace something a little more Shakespearean.
‘O brave new world, that has such people in’t.’ So says Miranda in The Tempest. She was, obviously enough, not talking about the cast of Cap 4, but if she had been, she wouldn’t have been wrong. As Mackie’s photo attests, the film includes the not inconsiderable presence of Harrison Ford as General Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross...

Is Aldous Huxley the new head of Hydra?
Marvel Studios has renamed its fourth First Avenger film “Captain America: Brave New World,” changing the 2024 release’s original title of “Captain America: New World Order.” The May 3 release date has not changed.
“Brave New World” is also the title of Huxley’s altogether too predictive 1932 dystopian novel, set in a futuristic World State. Disney did not explain the reason for the change in its Tuesday morning release, though the phrase “New World Order” carries a whiff of globalist politics that the literary “Brave New World” does not.
The studio also released its first set photo from the movie, currently in production. Harrison Ford and Anthony Mackie, who plays Sam Wilson and takes over the mantle of Cap for “Brave New World,” can be seen yukking it up behind the scenes.

Legacy has been part of superhero storytelling, almost from the beginning. When one character can no longer maintain their super-moniker, they pass it on to another, creating a chain of heroes with different takes on the same identity. Traditionally, legacy heroes have been more of a DC Comics thing than a Marvel thing, resulting in more Flashes than Thors. But with its ever-expanding live-action universe, the MCU is embracing the legacy concept as new actors take on established names.
We’ve already seen glimpses of this with Jane Foster becoming Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder and Shuri stepping in as Black Panther after the death of her brother T’Challa, as well as potential legacy characters with Kate Bishop’s Hawkeye and Yelena Belova’s White Widow.

Back in 2007, a website – Slusho.com – was launched to advertise a brand of drink called Slusho, which contained a highly addictive ingredient called Seabed’s Nectar (which is why “You can’t drink just six!”) and comes in flavors like Blueberry Zoom, Chocolate Rage, Mikan, Nashi, Banana Anime, and Strawberry Tasty. As it turned out, this was just viral marketing for the 2008 creature feature Cloverfield (watch it Here)… even though it didn’t have any relevance to the plot of the movie. At least, not from what we could see in the movie itself. Now another Cloverfield movie is in the works, with Under the Shadow‘s Babak Anvari on board to direct from a screenplay by iBoy writer Joe Barton – and the folks at Slash Film noticed that Slusho.com has been re-activated. The viral marketing site lives again!

This Friday, "Evil Dead Rise" will revitalize Sam Raimi's classic horror franchise once again in a way that's familiar but completely fresh. Though the new entry trades in teenagers in mysterious cabins in the woods for a troubled family living in a high rise apartment, it maintains all the geysers of blood, gore, chainsaws, and dark humor that the series is known for. Just as Fede Álvarez did with his 2013 reboot, director Lee Cronin is taking Raimi's world back to its nastier roots by returning to the nihilistic, oppressive atmosphere that made the original 1981 "The Evil Dead" a midnight movie sensation.
After making great impressions with preview test audiences, Cronin's movie went from being an HBO Max exclusive to receiving a wide theatrical release. The hype for "Evil Dead Rise" is truly real, but when you see it this weekend, don't expect our beloved horror-himbo Ash Williams to make an appearance.

It’s hard to imagine what, exactly, the fourth entry in the Captain America franchise will be. It’s not just that Captain America: New World Order will be the first without Chris Evans’s wholesome hunk Steve Rogers in the red, white, and blue, with Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson abandoning his Falcon identity to become the new Sentinel of Liberty. The movie also puts the legendary Harrison Ford in the place of the recently departed William Hurt as former Secretary of State and Hulkbusting enthusiast Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, and brings back Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns, a scientist last seen in early MCU entry The Incredible Hulk.
With The Falcon and the Winter Soldier showrunner Malcolm Spellman writing the script, and The Cloverfield Paradox director Julius Onah helming, we know that the movie will continue the threads set up by that show. While the series ended with...

There is already plenty of The Incredible Hulk's DNA running through Captain America: New World Order, with Tim Blake Nelson returning as Samuel Sterns (Aka The Leader) and Harrison Ford stepping to play the recurring role of Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross from William Hurt. Liv Tyler is the latest recruit, returning to the MCU as Betty Ross.
Whether this means Mark Ruffalo might show up as Bruce Banner remains to be seen, but the focus looks to be more on other elements from the Hulk's story.
New World Order sees Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson as Cap, following the events of The Falcon And The Winter Solider, which saw him wrangling with whether he even wanted to take over after Chris Evans' Steve Rogers handed him the shield at the end of Avengers: Endgame.
