It’s been more than a year since The Royals‘ reign at E! reached a premature end, but fans — and series star Elizabeth Hurley, apparently — are still mourning the loss of the Henstridge monarchy.
During an appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live on Monday, Hurley was asked by a caller if she was satisfied with the show’s conclusion. “No,” she replied. “We didn’t expect it to end. Everybody thought there would definitely be a fifth season, so the storylines weren’t really finished properly. I think a lot of the fans were upset that we didn’t tie up loose ends.

Despite declining ratings each season, E! has continued to renew The Royals TV show, when it might have been cancelled on other networks. As the cabler's first foray into scripted fare, they have given this primetime soap opera every chance. After production was done on the fourth season though, they fired creator Mark Schwahn, in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations. How that ultimately affects this low-rated show's fate remains to be seen and likely depends on the ratings in the fourth season. Will The Royals be cancelled or renewed for season five? Stay tuned. *Status update below.

The Royals have truly outdone themselves this time.
Sunday’s third season premiere pushed the Henstridges to their own personal extremes: Liam’s angst has reached an all-time high, leading him to fisticuffs in an underground fight club; Eleanor remains determined to sabotage her own happiness by keeping Jasper at arm’s length, yet still begging him to fight for her; Queen Helena is (accidentally?) boning her new Lord Chamberlain; and Cyrus is literally murdering people and dumping their bodies into the sea. Those wacky royals!
