Daisy Ridley is intrigued by the "challenge" of returning to the 'Star Wars' franchise. The 32-year-old actress will reprise the role of Rey in Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's movie in the sci-fi series and questioned how she will adapt to playing the protagonist once more.Quizzed on coming back to the 'Star Wars' films by Empire magazine, Daisy said: "Why wouldn't I (do it)? Yes, they have been divisive, but also they bring a lot of love and joy to a lot of people."It feels pretty amazing to be able to continue a character – like, can I even remember how to play her? It's an interesting challenge as an actor to come back to something and try to figure out what's changed for me and what's changed for her."The 'Magpie' actress first starred as Rey in the 2015 movie 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' and is looking forward...

Daisy Ridley shot to fame as the leading protagonist Rey in Star Wars’ sequel trilogy. She shared screen space with newcomers Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, and John Boyega, as well as Star Wars veterans such as Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford in the films. The films were divisive in their responses, with creator George Lucas himself not being a fan.
After Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, which ended Rey’s arc, Ridley has been keeping busy with other projects and has also begun a career as an executive producer. However, she will be returning as Rey in an upcoming Star Wars film. Ridley mentioned that she almost manifested a Rey-centered film right before meeting with LucasFilm CEO Kathleen Kennedy.

Having survived a feverishly debated Star Wars trilogy, Daisy Ridley is forging her own path – and taking control.
For Daisy Ridley, the thrill comes first and the fear comes later.
While wading in the middle of the Black Sea for Joachim Rønning’s rousing 1920s-set biopic Young Woman And The Sea, in which she stars as Trudy Ederle, the first woman to swim across the English Channel, Ridley’s aversion to open-water swimming confronted her fully. “You know when you go in the sea?” she asks. “I never go beyond where I can see my feet. The whole thing was such an exploration of things I don’t really like.” Her voice sing-songs: “The lies we tell for the jobs we do!”
Of course, the London-born actor is well-acquainted with treacherous waters. At the age of 21, Ridley was plucked from anonymity to lead the Star Wars sequel trilogy as Rey,...

Adam Driver is an actor who has appeared in numerous roles in many movies, which include Lincoln (2012), Frances Ha (2012), Inside Llewyn Davis (2013), BlacKkKlansman (2018), Marriage Story (2019), The Last Duel (2021), House of Gucci (2021), and Ferrari (2023), but one role stands out among mainstream fans, which is what of Kylo Ren, or Ben Solo, from the Star Wars franchise. And while the sequel trilogy was more clumsy than perfect, even ridiculous at times, Driver’s performance has been praised and Kylo Ren is still considered as one of the trilogy’s most important characters.
And while Kylo Ren died in the films, we have seen that Star Wars characters can – more or less miraculously – reappear in the series, as was the case with Darth Maul and Palpatine, so why not Kylo Ren? The actor was recently asked about the possibility of returning to the role of Kylo Ren, and we will reveal what he said.

First, apologies if this violates Den of Geek’s house style guidelines, but Lol. Lol at everyone who thought that Russell T Davies would return to Doctor Who as the avenging angel of ‘The Fans’, riding in and heroically retconning out all the plot points they had been complaining about for the last four years.
Davies has announced he has no plans to retcon Chris Chibnall’s controversial, canon-shaking Timeless Child plot twist, which revealed that the Doctor is no child of Gallifrey, but a foundling discovered at the mouth of a dimensional rift from universes unknown. Neither is he going to let that twist simply sit in the Doctor’s backstory, present but unacknowledged, alongside other inconvenient facts like the Moon being an egg, Earth’s forests spontaneously multiplying to help burn off solar flares, and the Doctor being best mates with Winston Churchill.

Welcome to this review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s show!
Match #1: Sheamus def. Ivar The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Sheamus’ first match back on Raw was a banger. Picking up where he left off, The Celtic Warrior dropped Ivar with a stunning White Noise from the middle rope as the crowd roared in approval. The Celtic Warrior had his work cut out for him, however, as Ivar nearly squashed Sheamus with a huge splash from the top rope. Sheamus kicked out, screamed at the Viking Raider for more, and hit an epic Brogue Kick to claim a huge win in his return. Monday nights are fight nights, fella!
My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: #DIY def. The New Day and The Creed Brothers The following is courtesy of wwe.

Way back in 2002, the excitement for Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones diminished somewhat. Late Night with Conan O’Brien sent Triumph the Insult Comic Dog to mock the fans lined up for the premiere, resulting in a segment in which comedian/puppeteer Robert Smigel launched nerd jokes at the assembly.
Most of the jokes were pretty obvious, including the last bit, in which a man cosplaying as Mr. Spock gained the knack for cursing and walked up and down the line with his middle finger extended. But while the perceived Star Wars vs. Star Trek rivalry has become an old toxic cliché at this point, the fact is that the two franchises don’t actually overlap very much in terms of their core missions. Trek favors optimistic philosophical inquiry and Wars emphasizes fantasy and adventure.

Since her Star Wars trilogy ended, Daisy Ridley has largely ploughed herself into indie fare. She’s soon to be seen in morbid drama Sometimes I Think About Dying, and led Neil Burger’s psychological thriller The Marsh King’s Daughter – but next, she’s switching gears again. She’s the titular young woman of Young Woman And The Sea, which is a character-focused human drama – but not an indie film. No, it's a Disney production from producer Jerry Bruckheimer, with Ridley playing Gertrude 'Trudy' Ederle – the 1920s American swimming champion who made it her mission to swim the English Channel. Check out the trailer here:
Anyone else feeling nippy just watching that? For all that Rey had Daisy Ridley leaping through Star Destroyer caverns and fighting for her life in snowy battlefields, this looks like a different kind of physical challenge – heading into the deep end (literally) for a tale of personal and psychological endurance.

John Krasinski’s follow-up to his Quiet Place series has just as many monsters and far fewer jump-scares. Check out the If trailer below:
How does a relatively fresh-faced actor-director follow-up one of the most successful new horror/thriller franchises of recent years? By making what star Ryan Reynolds has called ‘a live-action Pixar film’.
When a young girl called Bea acquires the ability to see everyone’s old imaginary friends, she joins forces with Reynolds’ ‘the man upstairs’ to stop them all being forgotten for good.
Matt Damon, Awkwafina and Steve Carell join a stacked voice cast alongside Reynolds, Fiona Shaw and Cailey Fleming (young Rey in The Force Awakens) in the real world.
Check out the final trailer for If, that’s just been released, and the first trailer from the end of last year just below it…

Star Wars currently has several projects in development, ranging from Mangold’s new film set thousands of years in the past to Waititi’s project, which he teased would challenge fan expectations. In the midst of these, there’s a new movie focusing on Rey.

Originally, Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson were set to write, but Steven Knight took over. The story is set 15 years after ‘Rise of Skywalker,’ delving into the aftermath of the war and the state of the galaxy with the Jedi scattered. There’s never been a better time to be a Star Wars fan in terms of quantity. There’s more Star Wars on screen and on the page now than ever before in the franchise’s history. From Disney+ series to video games to The High Republic books and Marvel comics, you can experience new adventures in the galaxy far, far away pretty much any way you want it right now. If Lucasfilm were able to get some movies off the ground, we’d be able to say that the franchise is firing on all cylinders.
Whether or not we finally do get some new Star Wars on the big screen in the years to come, the future of the franchise is still very bright, thanks to TV series like The Mandalorian, which has already expanded across multiple spinoffs full of Original Trilogy nostalgia and exciting new characters. One year ago, at Star Wars Celebration, the news was confirmed: Daisy Ridley will officially be coming back to the galaxy far, far away, reprising the role of Rey in a film set 15-odd years after Episode IX – The Rise Of Skywalker, in which her hero will be establishing a New Jedi Order. In the intervening 12 months, the project has remained in its early stages, but Ridley herself has been awaiting her return to Star Wars – all while working on acclaimed smaller films like Sometimes I Think About Dying, and Young Woman And The Sea. Among it all, she’s feeling positive about what her Star Wars future holds.
As she tells Empire in a major new career-spanning interview – available in the upcoming The Acolyte issue – this time she’s “coming in a bit more eyes wide open” to the whole experience. “I suppose I feel more like I’m owning it.

Howard Kazanjian served as a producer on two of the original three Star Wars films. While Kazanjian went uncredited on Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back, arguably one of the best in the franchise, he also worked on its sequel Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi.

Having worked on the original trilogy makes Kazanjian a reliable source of critique on the widely divisive and polarizing sequel trilogy of Star Wars films produced under Disney. While many hardcore fans may have disliked the latest sequel trilogy of the Star Wars cinematic universe, these movies were a gateway into the future of the franchise going forward, which was full of potential to make something new and continue the franchise’s legacy.

As viewers explore Grogu’s backstory further, they speculate about his role in both the series’ storyline and the broader Star Wars universe. A fan theory from Reddit suggests that Grogu, also known as “The Child,” is part of a longstanding cycle where a child grows up to save the Chosen One from falling into darkness.
Speculation arises from the saviour cycle theory, suggesting that Ahsoka Tano could have trained Grogu to eventually mentor a new Chosen One in a later phase of the Star Wars timeline, especially considering her appearance in The Mandalorian’s second season. This theory implies that...

But before either of those projects bear fruit, fans of Knight’s writing can look forward to his new show “The Veil.” The FX on Hulu limited series stars Elisabeth Moss as a spy who finds herself caught up in a web of secrets in a globe-trotting espionage series.
“The Veil” stars Elisabeth Moss, Yumma Marwan, Alec Secareanu, Thibault de Montalembert, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, James Purefoy, Josh Charles, Joana Ribeiro, Phill Langhorne, Dan Wyllie, Aron von Andrian, and Dali Benssalah.

Earlier in the week, Lucasfilm released the first trailer for The Acolyte, the first live-action series set during the High Republic era of Star Wars. The series was first announced in 2020 and is headed up by Leslye Headland. The series experienced multiple production delays and will now release on June 4th.
However, despite Lucasfilm trying to generate excitement for this long in development series the reaction hasn’t been the most positive. As of writing this article, the trailer on on the official Star Wars YouTube Channel has 215K Dislikes to 144K Likes.
Surprisingly, the video still has comments enabled and a number of disappointed fans are making their voices heard. Many of them make fun of the “Close your eyes, what do you see?” part of the trailer.
A good portion of the comments also reference Harvey Weinstein as the showrunner, Leslye Headland, was his personal assistant for a number of years.

Billy Dee Williams, the star who played Lando Calrissian in the original Star Wars flicks. Shaun and his best mate Ed are in trouble. They’ve discovered two zombies in their garden, and the lumbering flesh-eaters show no signs of stopping. However, Shaun and Ed have found one way of slowing the approach: throwing records.
And so, as the two zombies grow closer, Ed and Shaun rustle through the latter’s collection. “Sign o’ the Times … Purple Rain,” Ed suggests as projectiles, only to have Shaun tell him no. That is until Ed reaches a low point in Prince’s discography, the Batman soundtrack. “Throw it,” Shaun commands, striking a blow against the living dead.
The above scene is just one instance of the humor and horror that director Edgar Wright and his co-writer Simon Pegg bring to the RomZomCom Shaun of the Dead, released twenty years ago. Shaun (Pegg) and Ed (Nick Frost) spend a lot of time discussing their pop-cultural interests, even in the most dire situations.

The Walt Disney Company is giving its investors a sense of the massive profits it has made off of the Star Wars and Marvel universes since that studio and Lucasfilm became part of Disney — and it’s more than one can shake a lightsaber at.
In a presentation posted to the shareholder campaign website Vote Disney, the House of Mouse included highlights of its success with franchises as the company is waging a proxy fight with activist investor Nelson Peltz.
Corporate intrigue aside, the presentation reveals some compelling numbers on the high-profile acquisitions Disney has made over the past 15 years. In a section titled “Enduring franchises highlight our powerful IP and unique monetization capabilities,” Disney indicates that it has seen a 2.9 times and 3.3 times return on investment after purchasing Lucasfilm and Marvel Studios in 2012 and 2009, respectively.
In 2012, Disney paid $4 billion for Lucasfilm, giving Disney ownership of the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises.

For fans anxiously awaiting Lucasfilm's next big move after the divisive "The Rise of Skywalker" brought an uncertain end to "Star Wars" on the big screen, well, this next update only kind of clears things up.
"Wonder Woman" director Patty Jenkins once was the subject of a breathless announcement back in December of 2020, which revealed that she would be directing a "Star Wars" film about a squadron of X-wing pilots due out by the end of 2023. That obviously didn't end up happening, probably because the title was quietly removed from the studio's release schedule after months and months without a single update. We subsequently found out Jenkins' 'Star Wars" movie had been unceremoniously shelved, possibly in response to the poor reception to "Wonder Woman 1984," but maybe that was a bit premature. In a thoroughly unexpected surprise, this latest bit of news comes not from Lucasfilm itself, but from...

Star Wars has quite a list of projects in the works currently, from Mangold’s new Star Wars film that takes place thousands of years in the past to Waititi’s undisclosed project that he claimed “will piss off the fans.’ There’s also a new movie focusing on Rey’s restoration of the Jedi order 15 years in the future, which won’t, according to the rumors, lead to a new trilogy but will rather be a standalone movie. Additionally, Filoni is actively working on the development of ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2, among other upcoming projects.
In this sea of upcoming projects, fans were consistently asking about ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ season 2. Ewan McGregor shed some light on the potential future of the series during his The Tonight Show appearance with his wife, Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

Daisy Ridley, known best as Rey in the "Star Wars" sequel trilogy, has had a pretty fascinating career outside of a galaxy far, far away. From narrating documentaries to failed YA sci-fi adaptations, she's certainly spread her wings. Later this year, Ridley will get the chance to lead a straight-up action flick called "Cleaner." It sounds like a riff on "Die Hard" from director Martin Campbell, who directed two of the greatest "James Bond" movies ever made. We may not even have a trailer yet, but it sounds very much like the film is going to live up to the promise of the talent involved.
The actor was on hand at this year's SXSW film festival in Austin, Texas, to promote her new movie "Magpie." During a panel, Ridley got to talking about some of her more physically demanding roles as of late, including the upcoming Disney drama "Young Woman and the Sea.

Daisy Ridley is set to reprise her role of Rey for a new Star Wars movie directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and the actress shared a few insights about the project while speaking with Deadline.
While Ridley said that she’s still waiting to read a script, she did say that she knows “bit and bobs,” including that there will be “an introduction of new characters.” When asked if any previous characters would be reprising their roles, such as John Boyega as Finn or Adam Driver as the ghost of Kylo Ren, Ridley said she didn’t know. Another character who fans might expect to see is Luke Skywalker, but Mark Hamill hasn’t heard anything. “Everything is confidential,” Hamill said. “So, If I were involved, I wouldn’t be able to tell you. And if I were not involved, I wouldn’t be able to tell you. So, I don’t know.

Star Wars has several projects in progress, including a new film directed by Mangold set thousands of years in the past and Waititi’s secretive project that he teased would upset fans. Somewhere in between, there’s ‘Star Wars: Episode X’ tentatively titled ‘New Jedi Order,’ which seems closely tied to its storyline.
Announced at Star Wars Celebration 2023, the new movie focuses on Rey’s journey after ‘The Rise of Skywalker.’ Directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, it follows Rey as she endeavors to rebuild the Jedi Order. Originally, Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson were slated to write the script, but Steven Knight took over. The story unfolds 15 years after ‘Rise of Skywalker,’ delving into the aftermath of war and the state of the galaxy post-First Order, with the Jedi facing upheaval. Kathleen Kennedy revealed that Rey is committed to honoring her promise to Luke by rebuilding the Jedi Order, drawing inspiration from the books.

The future of "Star Wars" is still a little murky but it is most certainly upon us. The last time the franchise graced the silver screen was back in 2019 when "The Rise of Skywalker" concluded the sequel trilogy. Though Lucasfilm has very much tried to move on in the years since, Daisy Ridley will be returning once again as Rey in a new, untitled film that will see her training a new generation of Jedi. Ridley may have already played Rey in a massively successful trilogy of films, but she's still nervous about returning as the character in the upcoming film.

Rumours continue to swirl about the future of Daisy Ridley’s Star Wars project, with the continued lack of a script being a key point of gossip.
It’s no secret that Lucasfilm has struggled to get Star Wars films into production over the past five years, with 2019’s The Rise Of Skywalker being the last movie from a galaxy far, far away to see the inside of a cinema.
The reception to that film was largely on the unkind side, but nonetheless, the film’s story is set to be continued with Daisy Ridley, the film’s lead, returning as Rey in a new project that was announced in the early part of 2023 (but in development for considerably longer).
Since then the film has been reported as having been hit by a least two delays.

French President Emmanuel Macron Responds For First Time To Rumors That Wife Brigitte Is Transgender
French President Emmanuel Macron shut down claims his wife, Brigitte Macron, was born a man. On International Women’s Day, Macron, 47, addressed the rumors that his wife, 70, is transgender, saying they were misogynistic attacks.
“The worst thing is the false information and fabricated scenarios,” said President Macron. “People eventually believe them and disturb you, even in your intimacy.”
Two French women were fined after spreading these rumors. However, they were able to reduce their fines on appeal, claiming they were intimidated by authorities to cover up a “state secret.” The women have been identified as Amandine Roy and Natacha Rey.
In December 2021, Roy and Rey were featured in a four-hour YouTube video in which they said Brigitte was born as a man named Jean-Michel Trogneux, the name of her brother.
Macron’s step-daughter Tiphanie Auziére briefly mentioned the rumors in an interview with Paris Match.

Macron’s step-daughter Tiphanie Auziére briefly mentioned the rumors in an interview with Paris Match.

Expectations are very high for Daisy Ridley‘s return to the galaxy far, far away. The actor is set to don the Jedi robes once again in a standalone film, which currently has the working title of Star Wars: New Jedi Order, but she’s no longer playing Rey as the fresh-faced student still figuring out her place in the galaxy or among the many generations of Jedi heroes who have come before her. The Rey we’ll meet in the upcoming movie has become the teacher who is now working to build a new Jedi Order.
The movie, which is set to be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel), takes place 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker and the end of the Sequel Trilogy. That means we’ll get to see a more mature Rey who plans to do things differently than when Luke Skywalker tried...

There's long been this narrative that some "Star Wars" fans are mad that "The Force Awakens" threw out George Lucas's ideas for the continuation of the Skywalker Saga and that it doesn't really have anything to do with him. And while there was a version of the stories from George Lucas' blueprint that would have delved deeper into the Whills and midi-chlorians, the brunt of ideas that we were presented with in the sequel trilogy came right from Lucas' brain. From Luke's turn from the Force to the character of Rey and many points in between, "The Force Awakens" is a mirrored reflection of many of George Lucas' early ideas going straight back to the early drafts of the screenplay for "A New Hope."

After wrapping up "The Skywalker Saga," Disney (rightly) put the brakes on all their plans for new "Star Wars" movies. The fandom is unquestionably fractured (although everybody seemed to agree that "The Rise of Skywalker" was a big disappointment), there's a saturated market thanks to the neverending stream of Disney+ shows, and there's just no relying on the Og cast to buoy the young blood anymore.
Lucasfilm is in the toughest spot they've been in since George Lucas sold the company. At least back then they had the excitement of the promise of new "Star Wars" movies, but between the TV shows, the Saga Films, and the "A Star Wars Story" spin-offs ... well, "Star Wars" just isn't special anymore. I mean, it is in that the world is still beloved and has the attention of a giant fanbase, but new "Star Wars" just doesn't feel like an event anymore.
