“Underground Railroad,” the new limited series from Oscar-winning director Barry Jenkins, arrived on Amazon Prime on Friday. The 10-episodes series, written, directed and executive produced by Jenkins, chronicles the story of Cora Randall (Thuso Mbedu), an enslaved girl in a bid for her freedom after escaping a plantation in the Antebellum South.
The series, based on Colson Whitehead’s 2016 Pulitzer-Prize winning novel, reimagines the Underground Railroad as an actual railroad with engineers, conductors, train tracks, and underground tunnels. Amazon Prime Video has debuted the official trailer for the highly anticipated Amazon Original limited series ‘The Underground Railroad’, from Academy Award–winner Barry Jenkins.
The series chronicles Cora Randall’s (newcomer Thuso Mbedu) desperate bid for freedom in the antebellum South. After escaping a Georgia plantation for the rumoured Underground Railroad, Cora discovers no mere metaphor, but an actual railroad full of engineers and conductors, and a secret network of tracks and tunnels beneath the Southern soil.
Over the course of her journey, Cora is pursued by Ridgeway (Joel Edgerton), a bounty hunter who is fixated on bringing her back to the plantation she escaped; especially since her mother Mabel is the only one he has never caught.
As she travels from state to state, Cora contends with the legacy of the mother that left her behind and her own struggles to realise a life she never thought was possible.

“This show isn’t a show about slavery. It’s a show about the character Cora,” Jenkins told Shadow and Act. “I think when we talk about slavery, in a way, we almost dehumanize the folks who were enslaved against their will. We almost rob them of their personhood. We assume the condition of being enslaved was the totality of their experience and the totality of their humanity.”
The adaptation of Colson Whitehead’s acclaimed novel stars Thuso Mbedu, Chase W. Dillon and Joel Edgerton. Aaron Pierre, William Jackson Harper, Sheila Atim, Amber Gray, Peter De Jersey, Chukwudi Iwuji, Damon Herriman,...

Amazon Prime Video has unveiled a majestic and powerful full trailer for Barry Jenkins’ upcoming, 10-episode limited series “The Underground Railroad,” the Southern antebellum saga he’s adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Colson Whitehead. All episodes unveil on the streaming platform May 14, right in time to make the series eligible for the 2021 Primetime Emmy Awards.
“The Underground Railroad” takes a bold approach to telling a story of slavery, as Whitehead’s novel was set in an alternate history where the 19th-century Underground Railroad was a literal railroad that American slaves used to flee the South and find freedom. The series chronicles Cora Randall’s (Thuso Mbedu) desperate bid for freedom in the antebellum South.
After she escapes a Georgia Plantation, she finds the fabled Railroad is a real one full of engineers and conductors, whose secret network of tracks and tunnels runs beneath the soil of the South.

Few characters have lasted the whole stretch on The Walking Dead, but Melissa McBride is one of them. However, things could have gone very differently if initial plans to off her character Carol Peletier back in season 3 had gone through.
Speaking at the AMC Networks summit, Twd‘s Chief Content Officer Scott M. Gimple revealed that he was asked to kill off Carol in the third season by then showrunner Glen Mazarro. Gimple fought to keep her alive, though, as he thought the character had so much more potential.
“I was dead set against it, because I thought it would be a great story to see a person who came from abuse become the hero and not in an easy way, that she herself had to struggle with the power that she found.”

With so many characters no longer alive on The Walking Dead after six and a half seasons, it doesn’t take long to put together a list of five people that you’d like to resurrect in the series. That’s exactly what Jason and Karen do on a new episode of The Walking Dead ’Cast, which features an interview with one of those former cast members, IronE Singleton, who played T-Dog in the first three seasons.
From The Walking Dead ’Cast: “Which former Twd characters would you most want to see come back, and in what situations? In honor of that question, this ep we talk with one of the original greats, IronE Singleton, a.k.a. T-Dog! IronE is a one-of-a-kind man. While The Walker Stalkers host many Walking Dead conventions throughout the year, their biggest one takes place around Halloween in the state where the series is filmed: Georgia. This year’s Walker Stalker Con Atlanta will be brimming with special guests, including Rick Grimes himself, Andrew Lincoln.
Our friends at The Walker Stalkers recently announced that Andrew Lincoln, aka Rick Grimes, will be attending Walker Stalker Con Atlanta for one day only on Sunday, October 30th.
Lincoln is expected to take part in a panel and will also do photo-ops. Further details have yet to be revealed, but fans can expect panel seats and photo-op slots to quickly sell out once they become available to purchase.
This is a rare convention appearance for Lincoln, so fans of the actor and his work who live nearby (or even far away) will not want to miss this, especially since 100% of Lincoln’s...

It's a shame AMC only made six episodes for the first season of "Fear the Walking Dead." "The Walking Dead" companion series was just getting good.
The Season 1 finale, "The Good Man," was really good -- action-packed, tense, emotional, surprising, and filled with tons of walkers. One main character was bitten -- Liza (Elizabeth Rodriguez), the ex-wife of Travis (Cliff Curtis) and mother to Chris (Lorenzo James Henrie) -- and Travis shot her before she turned. But the season ended on a hopeful note as the group followed enigmatic smooth-talker Victor Strand (Colman Domingo) to his swanky ocean-front digs and prepared to join him on an even swankier yacht.
They went to the coast. They were going on a boat. This is what T-Dog (IronE Singleton) always wanted on "The Walking Dead."
You may recall how that Atlanta character occasionally brought up the idea of heading east to the coast.
