Jimi Hendrix played on two of the group's singles (under the name "Jimmy
James"), and during 1964 was a member of the group's touring band.
Their song "Summer Breeze" was covered by Seals & Crofts in
1977. Several bars from the melody of it were used as background rhythm
by rap artists Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre for 1991's "G
Thang".
Not only has their hit "Shout" been sung by
The Temptations, its bars have been re-mixed for the opening
of House of Pain's 1992 successful rap single "Jump Around".
