In the glamorous world of Hollywood, where stars often seem to lead fairy-tale lives, the reality behind the scenes can be far from glamorous. Sylvester Stallone, renowned for his portrayal of Rocky Balboa, has been in the public eye not only for his cinematic achievements but also for the challenging chapters of his personal life. One such chapter was his whirlwind romance with Brigitte Nielsen, which captivated the public as the two became one of the most iconic celebrity couples of the 1980s.

The CW will be taking a long, hard look at whether it will air the Miss USA Pageant and Miss Teen USA Pageant in August following controversy at the organization.
Earlier this month, Miss USA 2023 Noelia Voigt and Miss Teen USA 2023 UmaSofia Srivastava resigned from their positions, accusing the organizers of abuse and bullying.
Voigt said that she relinquished her crown, publicly stating that she wanted to prioritize her mental well-being, calling the organization a “toxic work environment” in a resignation letter obtained by the New York Times that “at best, is poor management and, at worst, is bullying and harassment”.
Last month, The CW struck an exclusive, three-year deal to keep both events on its schedule after Miss USA became its number new special of the year with viewership peaking at over 1.1M, per Nielsen.

After pioneering feature length computer animated features with "Toy Story," Pixar Animation became the gold standard for the medium. But it wasn't just because of the innovative animation style providing a new palette for storytelling. Like the many Walt Disney Animation movies that came in the decades before Pixar rose to prominence, the filmmakers at Pixar had a knack for finding the perfect voices for their characters. Whether it was Tom Hanks and Tim Allen as Woody and Buzz Lightyear or Patton Oswalt as Remy in "Ratatoiulle," Pixar has always let the perfect voices shine in their work, even if they don't come from the biggest stars. That's especially true with "Inside Out."
In "Inside Out," a stellar ensemble came together to voice the core emotions inside the mind of an 11-year old girl named Riley. Amy Poehler delivered boundless exuberance and enthusiasm as Joy, Phyllis Smith brought an adorable melancholy to Sadness,...

Back in 2000, director Ridley Scott took us back to 180 Ad for Gladiator, which told the story of Roman general Maximus Decimus Meridius (played by Russell Crowe), who is favored by Emperor Marcus Aurelius to be his successor because his own son, Commodus, is unfit to rule. Commodus disagrees, so he murders his father, has Maximus arrested, and has Maximus’s wife and son killed. While Commodus establishes himself as the new emperor, Maximus escapes from captivity – only to be captured again, this time by slavers who sell him off to become a gladiator. Soon he’s fighting in front of Commodus in Rome’s Colosseum… and it all builds up to Commodus challenging Maximus to a duel. Gladiator was a major box office success and racked up multiple Academy Award wins, including Best Picture. So there was already talk of a sequel in 2001, but it ended up taking more than...

The film which was test-screened in Las Vegas, is already attracting a lot of attention and praise for Scott’s work. Developer Mgp Studios (creators of the Hotline Miami-esque Project Downfall) has dipped their toes into Tarantino territory with their upcoming grindhouse Fps game, Unbroken. That means over the top “visceral bursts of violence” with a kick that turns inanimate objects into projectiles, coupled with the always-welcome Bullet Time mechanics.
Unbroken takes place in the realm of Crests Edge. You are a nameless stranger on a quest for revenge against a man known as Nielsen. You’ve tracked him to Crests Edge, and now you must bring him to justice, dead or alive. Unfortunately for you, Crests Edge is filled with all sorts of monsters and other denizens that don’t take too kindly to outsiders. Making matters worse is the fact that you have 5 full moons to complete your quest.

The Naked Gun, which originally starred Leslie Nielsen, is one of the most beloved action comedy series of all time and a true genre classic in every possible way. The legendary actor died in 2010, but while he was definitely the main face of the franchise, it was confirmed in October 2022 that the franchise would be coming back and that Oscar-nominated actor Liam Neeson would be taking over Nielsen’s role in the upcoming reboot of the beloved franchise.
And while Neeson is definitely a great actor and a big name, as well as someone who has experience in action movies, it remains to be seen how the production side of the whole project will approach the reboot and what the new series will actually look like. But this is something for the future. What we have now is new casting info that has recently been revealed and which confirms that...

Sunday’s Super Bowl drew 123.4 million viewers across CBS and Paramount+, according to preliminary numbers. That’s the most for any broadcast since Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin set foot on the Moon on July 20, 1969, and the most-watched non-news telecast of all time.
Nielsen says the total number of viewers who watched any part of Super Bowl Lviii was 202.4 million, up from 2023’s 184 million.
The game was a good one — especially late — and that is the single most-important factor for a major sporting event to drive TV ratings. And yes, Taylor Swift certainly helped too.
The Kansas City Chiefs came from behind to defeat the San Francisco 49ers in overtime, 25-22. The game, which had been 10-3 in favor of the Niners at halftime, ended on a walk-off touchdown toss from Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes to wide receiver Mecole Hardman. The CW scored big with its first college football bowl game.
The Wyoming Cowboys eked out a win over the Toledo Rockets in the Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl on Saturday, delivering 1.1M total viewers, according to Nielsen.
The game, which saw the Cowboys emerge victorious after a field goal as the game clock expired, is now among the CW’s top three telecasts of the past two years in both total viewers and in the 18-49 demographic, of which 320,000 people tuned in. The game peaked with 1.9M viewers in the final quarter hour.
This is quite a big audience for The CW, which rarely cracks a million viewers with its regular programming. While the Group of 5 competition didn’t quite reach the numbers of a Power 5 bowl game, it still shows the power of live sports in a declining broadcast landscape.

The Dallas Cowboys’ escape with a 20-19 victory over the Detroit Lions on Saturday on a special weekend edition of ESPN’s Monday Night Football drew 25.7 million viewers, the network said Monday citing Nielsen fast nationals.
The Cowboys’ home victory in a battle of two postseason-bound NFL teams joined previous 2023 Mnf games Eagles-Chiefs on November 22 and Ravens-49ers on Christmas Day as the three most-watched Mnf games since 1997.
The 2023 Monday Night Football season is now officially the most-watched Mnf season of the ESPN era, which began in 2006. The 20 games in 2023 averaged 17.1 million viewers, up 33% year-over-year.
The Cowboys-Lions game went down to the wire, with Detroit ultimately unable to score on a 2-point conversion late in the fourth quarter that would have given it the lead. With the close game, viewership averaged more than 27 million during much of the second half, Nielsen said.

Jess Brammar, whose hire generated headlines two years ago when a BBC board member was accused of trying to block it, will become Editorial Executive in Moore’s content division. Once she returns from parental leave next week, Brammar will replace Rachel Jupp, who is “taking time out to move to Washington DC with her family,” according to a memo from Director of Digital, Channels and Weather Naja Nielen’s sent out this morning.
Brammar moves from her BBC News Channel Editor post and her interim replacement Paul Royall will remain while a permanent replacement is sought.
Brammar’s new job involves supporting Moore with editorial and creative support across all TV genres, radio, sport, children’s and education, but not news.

Suits just broke another Nielsen streaming record by extending its streak atop the weekly Top 10 to 12 straight weeks. Not too bad for a show that has been off the air for four years.
The last hit from USA Network’s Blue Sky golden era, the series starring Gabriel Macht and Patrick J. It transitioned to streaming and was available on Prime Video and Peacock for years until, in an unassuming, modestly priced ($200K-$400K an episode) second-cycle non-exclusive deal, Netflix this year took in the first eight seasons of the show, sharing them with Peacock.
What followed was nothing short of a lightning in the bottle. Suits has exploded in popularity and just surpassed Ozark for the most No. 1 overall finishes in the Nielsen Streaming Top 10 ever.

259,000 people tuned in to watch NFL player Travis Kelce date 50 women on the premiere of his E! reality dating show, “Catching Kelce,” in 2016.
Apparently, Kelce only needed to date one to attract an audience of 27 million.
That woman, of course, is Taylor Swift. And all she had to do was simply attend an NFL game to break national television ratings records.
On Oct. 1, when Swift made her second appearance in the stands to watch the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, who is her new reported beau, she brought an average of 27 million viewers to NBC and Peacock. The game against the New York Jets ranked as the most-watched Sunday program since the Super Bowl, spiking female viewership by more than 35%. Nielsen says 53% more teenage girls watched Sunday Night Football than last season, thanks to the pop star’s attendance.

Nielsen says 53% more teenage girls watched Sunday Night Football than last season, thanks to the pop star’s attendance.

In the early eighties, Arnold Schwarzenegger had become a star through his role in Conan the Barbarian. Following a critically maligned but successful sequel, Conan the Destroyer, Schwarzenegger sought to move into more contemporary roles. His contract with producer Dino De Laurentis was ending, but the legendary mogul wanted to use Schwarzenegger’s star power to launch another adaption of Robert E. Howard’s work – Red Sonja. The resulting film was a star vehicle for Brigitte Nielsen, who some saw as a potential female action icon, and Schwarzenegger, due to his contract with De Laurentis, had no choice but to appear in a critical supporting role (for which he would be top-billed) opposite Nielsen, who played the titular character.

Artie is a cute little robot in an apocalyptic, post-human landscape, roaming through a desert on Earth with a single job, that, frankly, seems a bit pointless. He has one friend, another robot, who pushes him to learn and discover more about his world, to break out of his programming, and to save something important.
I had to check the dates on Jon Nielsen’s graphic novel Look , because the parallels with the Pixar movie Wall-e were so obvious that I wanted to believe this was from the late ’90s and it was all parallel development. But no: this is a 2017 joint, so, unless I assume Nielsen (a fairly prominent web cartoonist) was living in a media-free cave during the Aughts, those parallels must be built-in, part of some plan.

“I could have been a contender; I could have had class; I could have been somebody.” So lamented Marlon Brando in On the Waterfront, a movie about a dock worker who once aspired to be a prize fighter before taking a one-way ticket to Palookaville. It’s a distinct tragedy, yet it has a certain universality. It speaks for anyone who had greatness within reach—and then saw it slip away like so many Mother Boxes.

The Walt Disney Co. has agreed to pay $9.5 million to settle a class-action lawsuit over the Magic Key annual pass program at Disneyland, according to a court filing Thursday.
The lawsuit, filed in 2021 by Jenale Nielsen and other pass holders in Orange County Superior Court, alleged that after Nielsen bought the $1,399 annual pass in September 2021, she found she was not able to reserve a ticket for much of November, despite tickets still being available for that month.
The lawsuit alleged that Disneyland artificially limited Magic Key reservations and the number of Magic Key holders who could visit on any given day. The case was removed to federal court in April 2022.
“After purchasing her pass, plaintiff learned that she was unable to use the Dream Key pass to make a reservation on some days, even when the parks were not at capacity and general admission park reservations were listed as available on Disney’s website,...

Elvis Presley‘s “Don’t Be Cruel” remains one of his most beloved tracks. A classic rock band put their own spin on the track in the 1980s. Subsequently, the same band had a hit covering “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”
Deciding to cover Elvis Presley’s ‘Don’t Be Cruel’ was ‘torture’ for Cheap Trick
Cheap Trick had a huge hit with their 1988 power ballad “The Flame,” a song that wasn’t written by any of the members of the group. During a 2023 interview with Songfacts, Cheap Trick’s Ben E. Carlos said the band wanted their follow-up single to be a cover. “I literally went through piles of tapes with Richie [Nielsen] from publishers, went through hundreds of songs,” he recalled. “We’d sit there in a room with a ghetto blaster, put a tape in, get about 10 seconds in, and usually just pop the tape out and pitch it in the circular file.

Perhaps you’ve heard but it’s been a very Suits summer.
Despite airing its final episode in September 2019, USA Network’s legal procedural Suits has been the talk of the streaming world ever since its first eight seasons arrived to Netflix on June 17. All nine seasons have been streaming on Peacock for far longer but Netflix, as the biggest streaming service, tends to drive the most attention. Per Nielsen, Suits has already broken its own streaming record with 3.7 billion minutes viewed the first week of July and viewership intensity doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon.
The potential reasons for Suits‘ surge in popularity are manyfold. While the dual WGA and Sga strikes shouldn’t have led to an extended pause in summer content in theory, some studios have juggled their schedules a bit to weather the storm for the fall season. Additionally, Suits‘ basic cable format...

In the most memorable scene from The Exorcist, the demon inside preteen Regan MacNeil (Linda Blair) taunts Father Karras (Jason Miller), telling him that his recently deceased mother was in hell with it. “If that’s true, then you must know my mother’s maiden name,” Karras tells her, smirking. “What is it?” The answer wasn’t so much a word as a growl and maybe a gallon of green, sticky vomit. From his reaction, that wasn’t her maiden name.

Once again, 10 promising directors are making their way to Karlovy Vary Film Festival thanks to European Film Promotion’s Future Frames – Generation Next of European Cinema initiative, ready to burst onto the international film scene.
“Over the past few years, we have established a reliable label with Future Frames,” says Sonja Heinen, Efp’s managing director, adding that the goals have remained the same: spotlighting talent, creating visibility for the emerging directors, and helping them access the market.
“Being selected gives them a certain stamp of approval. They get a platform to exchange and experience, and are equipped with coaching which they can use later in their career,” adds Nora Goldstein, project director.
Polish director Agnieszka Smoczyńska, behind Sundance award-winner “The Lure” and Cannes title “Silent Twins,” is this year’s mentor.

Holger Rune was compared to Nick Kyrgios by former tennis player Frederik Nielsen who is a huge fan of his compatriot.
Holger Rune is a rising star in the sport of tennis and some have noted quite a few similarities with the Australian player . For starters, both have been named as tennis bad boys even though both have rejected that description .
Rune doesn't see himself as a controversial player but rather a passionate one who simply wants to win. He's quite similar to Kyrgios in that regard but one fundamental difference is the commitment to sport.
Rune is obsessed with tennis while Kyrgios never was, which might impact the legacy of both. Former Atp player Nielsen drew comparisons between Rune and Kyrgios in a recent interview with SpilXperten.
