Game, set and match for Tudor Giurgiu, Cristian Pascariu and Tudor D. Popescu, who co-direct Nasty, a pleasingly hagiographic portrait of Romanian tennis icon Ilie Năstase. What fun tennis must have been in the 1970s, as it was on the turn from a knockabout sport into the sharp-footed profession it is today. Năstase and his contemporaries brought finesse and genius to the game, but tennis hadn’t yet been fully corrupted by corporate greed and mechanical elite athleticism. These players were hardworking and hard-partying in equal measure, and Năstase was a key ringleader for the frivolity, dating models, and canoodling on the mattresses at Studio 54.
He was also the sport’s chief antagonist a generation before John McEnroe took the mantle. Arguing with his fellow players and with the umpires. But he never questioned them when their calls were right, he insists, in one of the rare modern interview clips with Năstase himself.

Call of Duty and Battlefield are no Need For Speed games, but the involvement of Electronic Arts with the latter proves why vehicle mechanics are so fluid in Bf games. It’s been a hard time for both the video games as the fans aren’t happy with the franchises’ latest installments. While MW3 could’ve been better but chose to accompany Bf 2042 in its worst time.
Coincidently, both video games are the latest in their respective franchises and deemed by fans as worst, in their respective franchises of course. It wouldn’t be a surprise if fans were surprised to think about what is happening with the major video game franchises right now. Bf really needs a different strategy if they are to outshine CoD in the gaming arena.

Whether you consider The Crow: City of Angels cursed or simply made in bad taste by a studio (Dimension Films) that couldn’t care less, a rewatch more than twenty years later is a real eye-opener in terms of the film as a standalone experience.
I remember being a kid who thought Brandon Lee as The Crow was one of the coolest things I’d ever witnessed in my life. For the record, I still feel that way. For years we donned black and white face makeup on Halloween night. Hell, the wrestler Sting is still doing it. I don’t know how adults reacted to The Crow at the time but I know us eleven-year-olds were rocked by it.
I bring this up because two years later I would leave the theater immensely bummed out after witnessing The Crow: City of Angels.
I remember hating the movie and vowing...

Auger-Aliassime is the proud winner of the 2023 Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award and is the first Canadian player to receive this honor since it was incepted in 1983. It is an award meant to celebrate the work of philanthropists and is not limited to tennis players.
The award extends the legacy of one of the world's most revered tennis stars, Arthur Ashe, who remains the only black tennis man to win a Grand Slam at the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and US Open. He was ranked as high as World No. 2 during his distinguished career.
Until he passed on in 1993, aged 49, Ashe's achievements list encompassed off-court humanitarian work. He was eloquent and vocal in advocating for civil rights, and his unwavering dedication to social issues made him a conscious leader.

Blue Beetle came out late in the summer as the actors’ strike took place. While the film’s star, Xolo Maridueña, has been able to have some of his pre-strike comments about the film come out during the promotional period, the Cobra Kai star was not able to do any press for the DC movie or talk about it in any way on any venue. However, earlier in the summer, when the hype for the new Dcu movie started to build, Maridueña and the film’s director, Angel Manuel Soto, were able to share just how personal and important this movie was for them as it was a superhero story with a prominent Latin representation that made them very proud and emotional.
Now that the strike has subsided, Maridueña has taken to his social media to finally speak in depth about Blue Beetle. According to Deadline, Maridueña shared a series...

With the recent conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA strike, actors can now freely discuss projects they previously had to keep quiet about during the labor dispute. One such actor is “Blue Beetle” headliner Xolo Maridueña, who took to social media and thanked his supporters in his first public remarks since the DC superhero film was released: “This is for all our inner child.”
“‘Blue Beetle’ is sacred to me, from the family you see on screen to the ones I made off, this movie has tore me down and built me back up in ways I’ll never be able to articulate,” Maridueña said on Instagram. “To celebrate this moment behind closed doors has been one of the most formative moments of my life but it helped me realize, there is no dollar sign, no tweet, no headline, that can quantify the feeling inside a child who sees their ancestry is heroic.

The The Crow: City of Angels episode of Revisited was Written by Emilie Black, Narrated by Niki Minter, Edited by Ric Solomon, Produced by Lance Vlcek and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
While not exactly horror, The Crow: City of Angels (watch it Here) appealed to my dark, goth, horror loving heart back in the day and still does to this day. The 1990s were a period filled with horror and cool films, sometimes films that were both. These days, a lot of people are more into the aesthetics than the content when it comes to art, film included, and The Crow: City of Angels is all aesthetics and a little bit of a dark story that calls to the heart of fans of the original and a few others who stumbled upon it.

Now a federal holiday, Juneteenth (June 19) commemorates the end of slavery in the U.S. Although this day marks just the beginning of an ongoing battle for equality, Juneteenth represents an opportunity to celebrate the joy of the Black experience as much as the hardship. And TheWrap’s got a great list of films to get that celebration started.
Once you’ve checked out some of the more educational Juneteenth-related fare, like “13th” or “I Am Not Your Negro,” consider adding some of these flicks to your streaming list.

A video game released in a broken state? Must be a day ending in “Y.” Overwatch 2 is the latest in a long line of titles that received a ton of hype before launch but were crippled by technical issues upon release. The latest issue plaguing the title prevents players from using their favorite characters and leaves them wondering if Blizzard has decided to push the game’s free-to-play mechanics just a bit too far.
When Overwatch 2 launched, the free-to-play game shipped with a roster of over 30 playable heroes, most of which are locked behind a significant barrier of entry. Overwatch newcomers who want to use all of the original game’s characters have to slog through 25 to 50 hours of gameplay, but even that might not...

By the time you read this article, Overwatch 2 will finally be available to download and play. Since the game is free, anyone who skipped on the first entry can finally give this game a try without spending any money. However, since Blizzard decided to alter how players obtain heroes in Overwatch 2, many fans will instead have to spend quite a bit of their time trying to unlock all of the game’s heroes.
Playable characters were the driving force of Overwatch. Each new hero and villain sported a memorable backstory, as well as fantastic art and gameplay design. Blizzard essentially treated each new character as a celebration since then, complete with the introductory cinematics that were released alongside each playable character. In the past, though,...

Tala Ashe is trading the Legends on the Waverider for The Girls on the Bus.
The Legends of Tomorrow vet has joined fellow Arrowverse alumna Melissa Benoist (Supergirl) in the aforementioned HBO Max series, which chronicles four female journalists who follow every move of a parade of flawed presidential candidates, while finding friendship, love, and scandal along the way. The comedic drama is inspired by a chapter in Amy Chozick’s 2018 novel Chasing Hillary, which was based on the author’s time covering Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign as a political reporter.

Desiree Hartsock has proven fans wrong. Pic credit: @desireesiegfried/Instagram
Desiree Hartsock chose Chris Siegfried as her winner on her season of The Bachelorette back in 2013.
However, not everyone was as happy as Desiree was when that final rose was given out in the Season 9 finale.
In fact, quite a few Bachelor Nation fans thought she should have chosen Brooks Forester, who was a fan favorite for the entirety of Desiree’s season.
However, Brooks chose to leave, which shocked viewers when it happened; therefore, because she ended up with Chris, Bachelor Nation didn’t waste any time saying that Desiree settled in her choice to pick Chris.
But Desiree was recently quoted talking about her winner, “People thought he was my backup choice and said things like I should have been with this other guy.”
She went on to say, “Ultimately, I made the right decision choosing Chris, and...

Photo: 'Citizen Ashe' The Problem Sam Pollard’s Sports Docs Raises Its Head A truly good documentary has to try harder to be exceptional, and that’s where a film like ‘Citizen Ashe’ strikes me as disappointing. On paper, this is a fine film; it covers the life of famous Black tennis player Arthur Ashe, who grew up in the late days of the Jim Crow South, and who by the ‘70s would become one of the most famous athletes in the country. This new film, directed by Sam Pollard and Rex Miller, explores the circumstances of Ashe’s quiet relationship with the period’s civil rights movements, and how that relationship inspired his later outspoken association with HIV/AIDS awareness. Pollard is a prolific Black documentarian, with his 2020 feature ‘MLK/FBI’ being his most notable, and Arthur Ashe’s story is undoubtedly an attractive subject for the filmmaker.

This review of “Citizen Ashe” was first published on Sept. 3, 2021 after the film’s premiere at the Telluride Film Festival.
There are the sports icons who inspire fans and wannabe players. Then there are the athletes who, apart from the stat sheet, change their sport for the better, use their position to help others, and generally spur us to want to be better people. Tennis has a few of those throughout its history, and two of them won singles titles at Wimbledon in 1975: women’s pioneer Billie Jean King, and men’s champion Arthur Ashe.
Long overdue as a multifaceted documentary subject for his sports achievements, influence and activism, he is finally the center of one with “Citizen Ashe,” an engaging, moving portrait co-directed by Rex Miller (“Behind These Walls”) and Sam Pollard (“MLK/FBI”).
The ins and outs of Ashe’s groundbreaking win in England over rival Jimmy Connors are thrillingly depicted,...

This review of “Marcel the Shell With Shoes On” was first published Sept. 5, 2021, after its premiere at the Telluride Film Festival.
After so much bad news over the past – oh, it’s been awhile – many viewers might be in the mood for entertainment that’s a little sweeter, gentler and kinder. Enter the adorable and effortlessly charming Marcel the Shell (Jenny Slate), a one-eyed, child-like anthropomorphic shell living in an Airbnb with his grandmother, Connie (Isabella Rossellini).
They are the only two shells remaining in the home after a devastating upheaval tore their community away from them when the couple (Rosa Salazar and Thomas Mann) who lived at the house split up, accidentally carrying off Marcel’s family and friends. But these two tiny creatures have since learned to survive, making the best of their microscopic world through creative means.
Many wonders and punchlines stem from their makeshift solutions, and...
