Exclusive: Heyday Television has acquired adaptation rights to Gillian McAllister’s novel Just Another Missing Person.
After what’s been described as a “highly competitive situation,” British screenwriter Georgia Pritchett will adapt the story for TV. It’s another example of how hot the book-to-tv market is right now, with Heyday’s parent Universal International Studios among the most active in the space.
Heyday founder and Academy Award-nominated producer David Heyman, whose credits include the Harry Potter films, Barbie and Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, will executive produce alongside Pritchett, McAllister and Sue Gibbs.
Just Another Missing Person follows Julia, a detective brought in to investigate the high-profile disappearance of a young woman. However, the simple case quickly becomes complicated when a mysterious stranger blackmails Julia into framing a seemingly innocent person for the crime. Julia is forced to choose between getting to the truth of the case,...

Welcome to this review of this past Friday’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s show!
Match #1: Tommaso Ciampa def. Austin Theory The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
#DIY are determined to become the new WWE Tag Team Champions, and their mission started on the right foot as Tommaso Ciampa picked up a major victory over Austin Theory. Things were looking shaky for Ciampa early, especially after Theory targeted the surgically repaired neck of the resilient Superstar. Ciampa rallied only for Theory to quickly regain control, but Grayson Waller caught wind of words from the commentary team, and Theory took his attention off Ciampa. That proved to be the difference as Ciampa shoved Theory into his partner and promptly rolled him up to score the win.

Alfonso Cuarón knew he wanted franchise installment “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” to be different from the other “Potter” films. So the professor assigned his Hogwarts, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, and Hufflepuff students some homework.
The director wanted the 2004 “Harry Potter” feature to have a “noir” tone, which Cuarón believed would best present the coming-of-age moment for both the trio of characters played by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, as well as for the film series itself.
Cuarón was the first new director to step in after Chris Columbus directed the first two films.
“Chris [Columbus] would help them with intonation and get them excited; Alfonso was treating them as young adults: what are you feeling?” the franchise’s producer David Heyman recalled to Total Film for a 20th-anniversary retrospective interview.
Part of getting the core cast to grow up onscreen was to have each actor meditate on their respective characters’ motivations.

For me, the news that Alfonso Cuarón was helming "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" was exciting. At the time, I only knew him for directing the thoroughly enchanting and visually splendiferous 1995 film version of "A Little Princess." As for everyone else? They were trying to make heads or tails of why the guy behind the indubitably erotic 2001 Mexican road trip drama "Y tu mamá también" had been hired by Warner Bros. to work on its golden goose (which really needs to cut ties with its transphobic creator already).
Cuarón was as baffled as anyone else when WB approached him. "I was confused because it was completely not on my radar," he explained to Total Film. "A Little Princess," while critically well-received, had barely made a dent at the box office, while the director's 1998 mid-budget modern-set retelling of Charles Dickens' "Great Expectations" was an outright flop. Alfonso Cuarón revealed he nearly passed on directing 2004’s Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban before his fellow filmmaker Guillermo del Toro knocked some sense into him.
To mark the 20th anniversary of the hit movie franchise’s third film, the director spoke to Total Film, where he shared his reaction to being offered the job, as he wasn’t too familiar with the Wizarding World initially.
“I was confused because it was completely not on my radar,” Cuarón said, notably because his project before Harry Potter was a completely different genre, the Spanish-language erotic drama Y Tu Mamá También. “I speak often with Guillermo [del Toro], and a couple of days after, I said, ‘You know, they offered me this Harry Potter film, but it’s really weird they offer me this.'”

Alfonso Cuarón marked the 20th anniversary of his film “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” with a new interview in Total Film magazine, in which he admitted that he felt totally strange when Warner Bros. called to offer him the chance to direct the third “Harry Potter” movie. Chris Columbus was stepping aside from the director’s chair after helming “Sorcerer’s Stone” and “Chamber of Secrets,” but the Mexican director behind the erotic road trip drama “Y Tu Mamá También” didn’t exactly scream “Harry Potter.”

For some fans, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is their favourite movie in the franchise, largely thanks to Alfonso Cuarón’s stylistic direction. However, the Y tu mamá también director may not have taken the Harry Potter gig had it not been for some choice words from his friend Guillermo del Toro.
Alfonso Cuarón told Total Film that he was unfamiliar with the Harry Potter franchise when he was offered the chance to direct The Prisoner of Azkaban, but thankfully, Guillermo del Toro was. “I speak often with Guillermo [del Toro], and a couple of days after, I said, ‘You know, they offered me this Harry Potter film, but it’s really weird they offer me this,’” Cuarón explained. “He said, ‘Wait, wait, wait, you said you haven’t read Harry Potter?’ I said, ‘I don’t think it’s for me.’ In very florid lexicon, in Spanish, he said,...

Guillermo del Toro did not mince words when trying to convince frequent collaborator Alfonso Cuarón to direct “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.”
According to Oscar winner Cuarón, fellow Academy Award winner del Toro simply called him an “arrogant asshole” for even hesitating to take on the beloved franchise installment. However, Cuarón might have had a point in questioning Warner Bros.’ decision to offer him the directing gig: At the time, his most recent film was “Y tu mamá también,” which is decidedly not YA material.

In the run-up to the release of last December’s “Wonka,” Timothée Chalamet made a surprise visit to New York’s Hudson Yards for a screening of the fantasy musical for kids enrolled in After-School All-Stars. With the holiday season in full swing, the 28-year-old actor handed out gift bags filled with Xboxes, Nikes and, naturally, chocolate bars. It was a plan he concocted on his own and was followed by similar events, such as a January visit to a Minnesota high school, where he took selfies with students from the drama program.
“He took every kid’s hand who came. He took a photograph with everybody who asked him, which was pretty much everyone,” recalls “Wonka” producer David Heyman. “That was about his heart. But he’s also very savvy about marketing. He gets very engaged and brings ideas to the table.”
Chalamet is that rare performer who appeals to audiences of all ages.

While Greta Gerwig’s directing career skyrocketed with Barbie, it shouldn’t be overlooked that the screenplay for the year’s biggest movie was co-written by Marriage Story‘s Noah Baumbach. Baumbach would also produce the film alongside Gerwig and Barbie star Margot Robbie. Baumbach’s career with Netflix consists of three features in addition to Marriage Story, including White Noise and The Meyerowitz Stories, starring Adam Sandler.
Baumbach is now tapped to helm his fourth project with the streamer. He’ll be reuniting with Sandler and pairing him with George Clooney for the new project, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The details for the movie’s plot has yet to be revealed, but Baumbach is also on board as a producer on the movie. He will be joined by Sony’s Amy Pascal and David Heyman as producers. Before the dual strikes this year, Faux Library Studio Props in North Hollywood would typically fill up to 20 trucks a day that were picking up props for big Hollywood TV and film projects like “Top Gun: Maverick.” But now, CEO Marc Meyer says the company only sees one truck picking up props — for a TV commercial.

Welcome to this week’s review of Nxt, right here on Nerdly. Let’s get straight into it and see what went down in this “special” episode…
Match #1: Asuka def. Roxanne Perez The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
One of the most iconic Nxt Superstars of all-time, Asuka, returned to the brand to defeat Roxanne Perez in a hotly contested one-on-one match. Perez proved that she belonged by pushing The Empress of Tomorrow to her limit, but Asuka used a devastating spinning kick to pick up the win. After the match, Kiana James arrived and attacked Perez, only for Shotzi to come to her aid and stave off the attack.
My Score: 3 out of 5 Match #2: Pub Rules Match – The Brawling Brutes with Tyler Bate def. Gallus The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The Big Strong Boi teamed with Butch and Ridge Holland to take out...

The production team behind Barbie was on hand at Deadline’s Contenders London event to reveal some of the secrets behind the smash hit’s unique journey and what set it on the road to becoming the year’s biggest movie at the box office.
Greta Gerwig’s acclaimed fantasy comedy, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, has been a cultural phenomenon this year.
Oscar-nominated producer David Heyman told the audience that much of the film’s appeal comes from its originality: “One of the reasons the film has done so well is because it’s original. There’s a real hunger for originality. Greta Gerwig is a singular artist, she pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in the most collaborative way. The film is fun, thematically rich and very moving. It was challenging, of course, but when we made it, there was a spirit of fun that permeated the production.

If you thought this latest season of "Stranger Things" was a little bluer than normal, well it's not your imagination, and it's for a good reason. Turns out it was at the behest of the best living filmmaker.
The long and short of it is that show creators Matt and Ross Duffer received a note from Steven Spielberg sometime after season one of "Stranger Things" where he complimented their throwback use of blue hue for their nighttime scenes. This was definitely more common in the '70s and '80s and while James Cameron might be best known for his blue nighttime photography, Spielberg himself dabbled in that look. Go back and watch "Jaws" and most of the nights are shown in shades of blue.
In "Jaws" that was mostly due to the "day for night" process which is when filmmakers shoot nighttime scenes during the day and slap a...

You’re a wizard indeed–and only a wizard could work the sort of spell that was cast over children and adults all over the world beginning in the late ‘90s, turning the wildly successful Harry Potter books (we’re talking 120 million copies sold here) into one of the most profitable franchises ever.
With J.K. Rowling watching over the production diligently (sometimes to a fault), Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone aka …Sorcerer’s Stone was a marvel of an adaptation. And what eventually arrived didn’t come from a burly half-giant, but rather a wide-eyed cast of newcomers, a visionary crew conjuring the proper vision and the guy who directed Adventures in Babysitting…
So put on your sorting hat and head for Platform 9 ¾ as we find out…Wtf Happened to this movie?!
The making of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone goes back to 1997, the same year the novel was published.
